Anyone know what the school colors were for Wayland & Carr Creek? Is there any reference to schools that have been closed in regards to colors, mascots, etc........

I have been told before that the high schools that closed during this time were converted to Middle Schools, but I could have some bad info on this.

Betsy Layne is not an independent. There isn't an independent school system in Floyd County as far as I know. I honestly always thought Prestonsburg was just like Pikeville & Paintsville are but they are not.

If I am not mistaken, that school & McDowell were consolidated into South Floyd back in 1993. Ironically, South Floyd & Allen Central will be consolidated into Floyd Central beginning next school year. Wheelwright is right in the southern end of Floyd County

There used to be tons of place name schools back in Pike County, consolidation has done away with it. Virgie, Dorton, Millard, Mullins, Johns Creek, Elkhorn City, Feds Creek, Hellier & over in Floyd County Wheelwright & McDowell & along with P-burg & Betsy Layne as you have mentioned.

Funny you should say that @ALTCat , the previous redistricting that occurred in Fayette happened back in 07/08 & took several large neighborhoods from Dunbar & gave them to Bryan Station to build up the population in that school after it was rebuilt. If anything, they keep on swinging the pendulum around towards Dunbar. The estimated enrollments of these schools are: Henry Clay 2400, Dunbar 2300, Lafayette 2200, Bryan Station & Tates Creek are 1900 & the new school will have a capacity of roughly 1800 although I've driven past it and it looks to be by far the biggest school in the city.

He would be an excellent choice @ATLCat , but the only problem is the "blank check" from any school in Fayette for a high school head football coach is $9350.

This is honestly 6 in one hand & a half dozen in the other. The average Joe Tickettaker isn't going to know every college coach who comes to the ticket booth either. You would not believe the volume of "passes" or "official identification" cards I have seen over the years that people have tried to use to push their way through to see a high school game. I never had a problem letting college coaches in if they were looking at one of my schools players as long as they would give me a heads up that they were coming. Even when visiting schools would call me & say that a college coach was coming to scout a game I would be totally fine with it. In the end, any college coach is going to get reimbursed for travel, food, etc, that they resubmit back to the school, so its a push at best. Maybe they need to check with other state associations to see how they go about doing this to streamline this issue if its such a problem.

I would vote Demons or Bearcats. Demons was the mascot from the old Douglass High & Bearcats was the old Dunbar High School mascot that the Douglass Park teams utilize currently.

This may have already been answered, but McCreary Co., Sheldon Clark & Phelps are 3 schools that I can think of in recent memory that have dropped out of their district for a 2 year cycle.

2196 seating capacity @ Bellarmine compared to 7,326 @ E.A. Diddle for girls basketball. Would have to look @ the attendance numbers to see from the GBB state tournament.

Ok, let me restate my post. I have been involved as a host to a state tournament event & the concessions were ran by a booster club for a local team that kept all of the $$$$ for their respective team, so in essence we are both correct.

I may be wrong, but I do believe that whoever hosts the championship events; Rupp Arena, WKU, NKU, Bellarmine, etc...... they sell their own concessions. The KHSAA isn't in the food service business, at least they weren't when I was doing AD work @ a high school.

I have to respectfully disagree. I have seen numerous transfers get denied within Fayette County from one school to another in-county. That rubber stamp doesn't exist.

Wont impact Lafayette hardly at all. It will impact Henry Clay & Bryan Station the most.

Word on the street is that he is the new AD @Watusi......
