  1. I agree with the running portion. They threw, IMO, way too much last year.
  2. What weapons do they return?
  3. If strength beats technique as much as you say it does, why do linemen practice hand placement, hands above eyes, and to have a balanced stance? Even NFL players will tell you that technique is more important than strength. They will also tell you that strength aids in their technique because with the added strength, they are able to bend their legs better, stay in a bent knee position longer and they are able to deliver a better blow among impact. Strength, agility, and quickness are three of the four most important things to a quality linemen. The fourth is the most important-technique. You cannot have a quality linemen without technique. No "ifs", "ands", or "buts" about it. You can put Arnold Schwarzenegger in the trenches and he will get beat at least fifty percent of the time due to his lack of technique. I am using this metaphor because of his amount of strength, not because hes a good football player. The person across from him can get their hands on him quicker, off the ball quicker, and make a good move. That is all do to technique. Strength, agility, and quickness all aid to technique. You can improve your quickness, gain on lifts, and improve your agility. Wide outs use these as their main attributes. That's fine when you are running away from a defensive back. When you put a wide out in the trenches with those three qualities and no technique, you might as well hand the other team the ball. Technique is the MOST important attribute for a lineman. What I am saying, you may not think strength means everything, and I agree with that. However, if it didn't win you games, why are programs lifting in the winter? It does win you games. It makes your muscles tired time and time again so when you are in the fourth quarter, you aren't tired as much because they are already trained to be tired. Technique is fundamental in the trenches, but strength, agility, and quickness are key to a lot of attributes for a linemen.
  4. It's not sways true. I just making a point of reference. Strength aids. However, strength helps in most sports.
  5. If that smaller, stronger lineman takes advantage of technique, technique will beat strength any day.
  6. Tackett was pushed out. No doubt. Why would someone push him out, is my question.
  7. If you were the superintendent, would you have fired Tackett?
  8. Using the same concept as with Mayfield, they're #1 until a 1A team beats them.
  9. Now let's play the He said/She said game. No body from Raceland does care. I'll tell you right now that Raceland could care less if Musick resigns because what does he do on the football field? Nothing. He spectates. But what is important is that some schools in this area, not singling anyone out, have problems doing what they are supposed to do. However, after all this is said and done, if those kids would have actually lived where they were supposedly living or commutes from their houses and weren't subjected to living on another land, we wouldn't even have a problem to talk about. At this point, it really isn't about football. It's about doing the right things. And that goes to any school anywhere. And I'm not saying Raceland is perfect. It just so happened to be Raceland's rival.
  10. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
  11. You are correct. I honestly forgot about Wheelersburg last year. They had a strong showing last year.
  12. I will agree to that. There are two different strengths in my books. Weight strength and field strength. I've seen guys throw other people around that are much heavier and bigger than them on the field but bench a third of their body weight.
  13. Raceland has hosted this weight meets for, I believe 7 or 8 years. Ram can confirm this. Raceland has also won it 6 or 7 times. I believe Scott County came in one year and won the meet by one point. However, I believe it does. Strength goes a long way on the football field. I honestly didn't think it did for a long time, but I have established a new opinion on it and it does. Greenup won some games this past year and I was happy for them to get back on the right track and now they are winning some weight classes. That is good to see! It does translate to wins.
  14. I would have to agree with oldrambler. Those kids knew what was happening. And no one can say they didn't. It was the majority of the adults fault, however, the kids are at fault as well. I still see tweets and instagram posts from some former Fairview players say, and I quote, "Really wish we wouldn't have taken advantage of the things we did. If we didn't, we could've done it anyways without it". Now, yes, this former player was a "star" but I knew of him and knew he played a great deal of time, more of a role player. He also posted a picture with this from the state title game. What I mean by saying the took some opportunities away from other teams may have been interpreted wrong. Yes, they beat my team that year fair and square during the 48 minutes between the white lines. However, they took advantage of KHSAA rules and that bother me and anyone else who considers sportsmanship as a priority in high school football. And I say this strongly not because I am picking over throwing a shot out there, but ever since Fairview started the relay line of kids from out of state, their "sportsmanship", from the players and coaches, has gone down to nothing. I am saying, if Fairview didn't do this relay of kids, maybe another team could have competed for that state title. All I'm saying is, it took away from Fairview's football program-forever. It took away from other teams competing for a state title. And maybe we wouldn't be talking about this today if some adults and kids would do the right things instead of trying to "one up" everyone else. To anyone: Do it right, or don't do it at all.
  15. I know Jerome Hall and Caden Townshend both squatted 500+. Raceland won overall and Dalton Stamm won the most weight lifted combine with 1440.
  16. Seems like there is a lot brewing in Westwood. I'm not a fan of anything in Westwood after all this has been said and done. A lot of opportunities were taken from other teams in situations like this. However, maybe Fairview will hire someone who can turn things around in the community.
  17. I think Beechwood takes three. I also think the west will win all four. However, Raceland will be in the state semis the next four years and if they aren't, I'll be really surprised. Raceland will play either Pikeville or Hazard in the semis on the east side each year. Pikeville is creeping towards the finals every year as is Raceland. Hazard has been and conquered and I believe one of these three teams will challenge Beechwood in state at least two of their three predicted title I chose. Which ones? I honestly don't know. I think maybe Raceland once and Hazard the other. Nonetheless, I think Beechwood wins three, and someone on the west gives Beechwood a run for their money and surprises them. Can't say who, maybe Frankfort, but that's what we will see in the near future.
  18. Alex Roy is back for Fairview? I honestly thought he was a senior. Maybe I thought wrong. The more you know...LOL.
  19. Proud of him for picking such an appropriate school. It is very hard to play two sports in college, even at the NAIA level. Congratulations to him and his family!
  20. Do what you did at Georgetown: score fast, score often, and win every game!
