Saturday Dec. 13 @ 2pm Columbus and Apopka square off for the "big school" 8A title in Orlando Florida.Obviously these teams rank number one and two in their 8A class with Apopka being number one. Apopka comes into this game with a 7-4 record with a 5 game winning streak. Apopka has 148 players on their roster. Apopka is PF 596 and PA 288, and a better SOS than Columbus. Apopka is ranked number 5 in the state. Go Explorers!!

I don't think Johnny Utah is a Highlands fan. If I'm wrong somebody will correct me. Congrats to T and D. for their accomplishments. (Are we back on topic now?)

I don't know who got the most out of the CC vs HHS game, but both teams learned something about themselves that day. CC's coach said "his team was gassed" at the end of the game. I think HHS learned if they get down by a lot early in a game, they can get back in it. Both coaches saw there teams weaknesses and made adjustments. CC vs Flanagan was a dog fight the whole game. It was like two pit bulls fighting until they couldn't fight anymore. This was a home game for Flanagan and were the favorite. Good luck CC. FHSAA should be carrying this game live on pay per view. The Flanagan game was $9.95 for a day viewing. Hopefully, Swamprat will correct me if Im wrong, and add anything that I have forgotten.

Highlands might have something to say about it, they are also 5A bound.

Apopka was winning big early in their game, so I'll assume they won. The game will be played in Orlando as far as I know.

I forgot the L in Flanagan too. Could a mod please fix both of my mistakes? Thanks Florida needs to have their playoffs on a neutral field, lots of "home cooking" in this one. Flanagans QB was called for intensional grounding in his own end zone, but the refs did not call it a safety. How is that not a safety? Columbus had the ball on the Flanagan 25 and up comes a phantom unsportsmanlike 15 yard penalty to take them out of field goal range, they ended up punting. Thanks FTTS for the correction. Jim Bunning, the grandfather of PT lived and still lives in Ft. Thomas as far as I know. Mr. Bunning had 11 children and I went to grade school with Cathy Bunning who was in my class. So they could be called natives of Ft. Thomas. Jim Bunning is in the pro baseball hall of fame. Also believe he pitched either a shutout or perfect game when he was pitching for the Phillys. I don't know anything about the Hoge family, other than they are nothing but class. The Collinsworth's are residents of Ft.Thomas. Cris's wife Holly went to grade school in the Johnson school district in Ft. Thomas, and is a Highlands grad. Obviously, she had some say in where they were going to live after they got married. .I'm just saying some elite players related to these people, aren't just "flown in" to play football for Highlands. Ft. Thomas has a great community to live in and football isn't the only thing that makes the fort attractive for people to want to raise families here. I'm sure there is more examples that I don't know of. There are so many generations of HHS players , I don't think anyone could name them all.

Coach Merritt didn't mention where we could find the live webcast of the game, did he? Columbus has a web page that CCNN will broadcast the game, but I'm not sure it's going to work. Hopefully it will. Go Explorers!!

If your a Soph. and starting at DB,LB or safety for the Birds, your a stud no doubt about it. I know it's only about seniors, but, use a little logic. Abner was a huge loss this year for the Birds. I hope he is doing well. #WINFORTHEM. :thumb:

I look at it like this. Hoge has a D1 scholly at BYU and is being recruited as a QB. Moore is a great QB and is being recruited as an athlete from what I've heard from the Dixie people. No knock on Moore at all. If I couldn't get Hoge, I would take Moore in a heartbeat.

They have been sluggish several times this season. The ones of the top of my head are the Columbus game, Lex Cath had a long opening drive for a TD. The Elder game. They won one game and lost two. The Columbus game they were down 21 at the half, and lost 37-34.Birds have been "lights out in the second half. I'm not concerned. Go Birds!!

I think I got it now. You like Hoge but hate Highlands. :thumb: Is this a new rule of yours that we have to mention players from other teams if we mention players from Highlands? :lol2: Please make it stop.
