I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised by the BGP poll here. It's been roughly 60-40 BG throughout. That's with the following going on: First home game for new head Coach Brian Landis. First home game on new turf field and video board. It's Alumni Night. It's Future Tiger Night. I'm sure X will play better than at Owensboro. Heck Rash Stadium alone is worth 7 points (I believe that). That's alot for a young BG squad to overcome on their first real road game of this very early season. @TheBallCoach mentioned a key area for BG in the Oline and Davis did take some hits, but IMO at least 50% of those hits were his fault not the Olines. Can't run to the middle of the field when you are a slender Sophomore QB. He will learn. X has good lines on both sides of the ball. IMO they went away from that too early in the Owensboro game. I don't expect that in this game. It's been said that X needs to find better execution over significant changes. I agree with that, but also wondering if some changes will be made. Probably a few. BG will probably be pretty antsy early and will need to calm down and get to business early. Can't afford to fall behind early to this strong X defense. BG played at least 10 sophomores in the Bullitt East game. Hoping that plays an advantage of not putting alot of pressure on themselves and just come out and play ball. We shall see. As @bruin66 said turnovers and penalties will carry a heavy weight in games like these and I think that is likely the overall determining factor here. I'm not trading teams. BG 13 X 10

After this game, Ganaway Jr being out won't matter very much. But this week it really matters as Ganaway's mobility would be a HUGE factor to extend plays and drives with his legs as much as he could his arm. Is what it is! At least you get him back Red Devil fans! I think the Biggs kid is a good-looking QB. He just doesn't have much experience and certainly no experience for what he will face on Friday Night in East Louisville. For Owensboro, you are the underdog - relish this opportunity! You have nothing to lose! You should be high as a kite! You just beat X for the first time ever. You are the defending 5A Champs! Go give it your best shot because after this game (and likely a feisty OCath battle) it's going to be awhile before you are in a long term game. For CAL, keep sharpening the saw! You schedule these type games to stay way yonder ahead of every other 3A team and it's working. Murray has a MASSIVE Oline so you need to not just pack it in (you're coached to well to do so, but still). Getting your starters 4th Quarter snaps is valuable for the long run. CAL can make a statement with this game! We will see! Good luck to both team and no injuries!!!

I'm wrong on the fumbles and INTs. They are located in the defensive stats. Have to work a little harder than the old way though.

Pulling for Apollo here! Hills is a tough team though! Are going to need a better defensive effort to get it done. Plain and simple. Go Eagles!

I had this same question. Maybe through dumb luck, I maneuvered over to the arbiterlive.com page and selected my team. Then I clicked on the W/L and score icon and when the icon of that game came up there is a "STATS" icon at the bottom below each team (as long as your team did in fact input stats). It still isn't as good as before with Total Rushing Yards/Total Passing Yards for both teams in an easily comparable fashion noticeably missing. And there is nowhere I saw for fumbles or interceptions. But hey, we are bringing the mountain to Muhammad here.

Great game here! Owensboro played great vs St X and deserved to win. But the Red Devils always play better at home IMO. This will be a tough challenge. CAL has playmakers all over on both sides of the ball as well and Hall is a difference maker as is Brown and Hobbs. The loss of Ganaway JR is really significant for O. Is there a known amount of time the O QB will be out? In the end, I look for CAL to be too much at home, but Owensboro will battle. CAL 24 O 14

Greenwood High School hosted a Freshman Jamboree yesterday morning at the Swamp. I'm not totally sure how many teams were there, but I know the following teams attended/played: Greenwood, Bowling Green, South Warren, Logan County, Central Hardin, Rossview (TN), Christian County, and I know there was a Daviess County school there too, but not sure which one due to the buses I saw. It was a terrific event that had at least 2 fields (may have been 3) broken in half (like a 7v7) and teams playing starting at the 40 and continuing until the offense scores or turns the ball over. Each game was about 20-25 minutes, and all teams played 4 games with their Freshman teams. Out of these, Logan County had a really scrappy team with a big line and looked pretty good. And I would have liked to have seen Christian County play, but they didn't play on the field BG did so I didn't get to see them. Shoutout to Greenwood for hosting this annual event. Very well coordinated and managed! Great job!

5A Bowling Green (1-0) at 6A St. Xavier (0-1)With the season now fully underway, we get into a more challenging section of games on the schedule and that certainly includes this game for Bowling Green with home games vs Scott County and South Warren on the horizon and for St X with games at Male, Trinity and Boyle County coming up soon too. So, this is a big game for both teams. BG vs St X All Time SeriesThis will be the 24th meeting for these two teams. All time St. Xavier leads the series 15-8. St. X won 8 straight games including: - From 1925 and 1926, - From 1931 and 1932, - From 1981 and 1982, and - In the Rafferty’s Bowl from 2005 and 2006. Those Rafferty’s Bowl games were close with both ending roughly 14-7 St X. From there, Bowling Green won 4 straight with some super teams from Scooter Hollis’ team in 2011 to 2014. They then traded wins for the next 7 games with St X breaking that streak with 3 straight wins from 2021 to 2023. But BG regrouped in 2024 and played their best regular season game of the year at St X and won going away 26-9. But St X would come to BG last season and outlast the Purples 27-10 in a game of two halves. The first half X completely dominated and BG had no offense. But BG switched QBs at halftime and went with the true Freshman Anthony Davis and the young man immediately drove BG down the field for the score and he started the rest of the way for BG from there. But X was the better team that night. So, St X is on a 1 game win streak in the series. St. Xavier Information (Check out @Tigerpride94 post also)St X has entered the Coach Brian Landis Era. The new head coach takes over for Coach Kevin Wallace who departs after 8 seasons on the X sideline. A good article regarding Coach Landis can be found here: How St. X's new football coach is making his mark on the program St. X has a lot of new players playing major minutes, but they did return RB Cooper Yates, who is a quality runner. The Tigers new QB came from Hazard in JR William Shoptaw. And most other skill guys are new as well. Defensivley X returns two defensive backs and LB/DE Korey Tutt who had a great game at Bowling Green last season. This is a stout defensive unit. I was able to make the X game at Owensboro last night and it was a great atmosphere for a game and you sit right on top of the players and field. Love that! Owensboro overwhelmed X 24-7 with their speed primarily from their defensive backs and WRs. That IMO caused QB Shoptaw to force some passes he likely shouldn't have as X had a total of 4 turnovers in the game, which is a poor recipe for success. But I caution the armchair QBs on rapid changes, as Owensboro's speed is very hard to replicate in any practice. That being the case, what changes, if any, are expected from the men in green? Fair question. Bowling Green Purples InformationThe Purples played what may be the last Rafferty's Bowl game at WKU tonight. Although I'd never say never in this category, but near term that is certainly likely. The Purples overcame a determined 6A Bullitt East Charger squad 34-7. BG leaned more on their run game than I can remember in recent memory as SR RB Nick Graham was award the offensive player of the game award. But the Purples got contributions all over the field from brand new players who are hungry to get their chance. And their line play was better than most any game last season. They also played with great enthusiasm, which went missing last year also. Big Shoutout to the BG Coaching Staff who seem to have reinvigorated these younger Purples and have good confidence going forward. And now BG will get to pack that confidence up in a charter bus headed north up I65 to take on traditional power St Xavier on Friday night in Louisville. Game Information:This game will be played on St. X’s revamped field, fresh with new turf and a new video board! This is going to be an interesting game. For St. X, they want to win their new Coaches first home game and get the bad taste out of their mouths from their trip over to Owensboro. For BG, its more keeping that momentum going. St X's defense will pose a significant challenge for the Purples, but I think I'm most looking forward to seeing how the St X offense vs the BG defense plays out. I expect X to have similar problems. So that means a low scoring game, I think. What say you?

6A Dupont Manual (1-0) at 6A South Warren (1-0)This will be the fourth time the Crimsons and Spartans have met on the gridiron with Manual winning in 2023 and 2024 and South winning at Manual last year 27-17 (although it was really played at Louisville Southern High School as the Crimsons new turf field wasn’t completed yet at Historic Manual Stadium). All three previous contests have been good football games with the possible exception of the 2024 game at South with Manual jumping on South early and winning 35-7. This 2026 matchup sets up two upper half 6A teams that will start to separate what both teams are really looking like this young season. Dupont Manual Crimsons InformationHead Coach Keith Eckloff begins his 3rd season at Manual accounting for a 19-5 record with 2 second round playoff bow-outs. Last year’s 15-14 knife fight loss (2nd Round of Playoffs) at Male was especially painful. But hopes are high off West Lee Street with many good football players back for the Crimsons. According to @Colonels_Wear_Blue , the Crimsons return their starting QB Kaden Mack and their two top receivers in Brayland Miles & Noah Price. They return most of their starting OL/DL. They have to replace 2025 starting RB Gerian Traynor, but rising seniors Jeremy Presley & Kaden Mack both rushed for 600 yards a piece last year, plus rising junior Julius Bledsaw did a really nice job carrying the ball with almost 150 yards on only 18 carries. On defense, they return 6 of their top 10 tacklers. The Crimsons also picked up a 6’1” 280 lbs Dline transfer from Trinity (Kolin Baker) so they should be good on the lines. Manual on opening weekend defeated Louisville Central 36-7. I think Central scored first and then the Crimsons rolled from there. Will be interesting to see how the Crimsons handle this road environment. South Warren Spartans InformationThe Spartans come into this game on the heels of their 32-9 convincing win over Lexington Bryan Station in the e.Commerce.com Bowl at LCA High School. QB Camden Page had a great game going 22 for 27 for 253 yards and 4 TDs. I don't know alot more than that, but was told it felt a little closer than the score would indicate but South was never really threatened either. Game PreviewThis should be a very entertaining game as both teams have solid lines and quality QBs with solid skill players. When that is a given, then things like the kicking game become more important. I don’t know much of either’s kickers, but keep an eye on which team is getting help in the field position battle thanks to the special teams group. Who takes this game in Bowling Green on Friday Night?

Good Rafferty's Bowl Matchup! Solid crowd for Bullitt East and a really nice crowd for BG on a drop-dead gorgeous night at LT Smith Stadium! For the Chargers, Super impressed with QB Egan! He can scramble with the best of them. BG had him dead to right several times but couldn't bring him down. Very elusive! He's going to win BE many games this year! BE's Oline did ok and they have really solid WRs. They just don't seem to be totally in synch yet though and that may be because Egan may have been hurt earlier and just not able to put the time/work in yet and get the chemistry fully going yet. He made a great throw on the TD. The Chargers D made BG work for pretty much everything all night but the blocked punt. Good effort and good luck the rest of the way Chargers! For the Purples, confidence is a fickle thing. You have it (or you don't) and just like grabbing smoke it changes. BG kinda punched themselves in the mouth by leaving empty handed twice in the red zone early in the game and especially so with the INT in the end zone. Shouldn't have thrown that one, but you live and learn. Most proud of the will to keep going and not quit and keep fighting. I quit counting Sophomores at 8 who played meaningful minutes tonight. Lot to like there! But its a double edge sword as that youth can also make mistakes, but BG played with more fire tonight than all last season combined. Not sure why about last season but that's over and 2026 is fun to watch. Really happy with the O and Dline play tonight. No, we didn't play Trinity, but you play the team in front of you and try to get better and BG did that tonight. St X will be a huge challenge but looking for the opportunity next week off Poplar Level Road in Louisville. Go Purples!
