  1. Heck you could always use house paint like Highlands old field. Neve heard a good thing about that turf.
  2. I was told that it is a football field. Cov Cath had to ask for the out of bound lines for soccer and that's all they could get. Hearing that some Soccer parents and players are NOT happy. I could be wrong on the lines but what I gathered the other night from a friend is that this is Football use mainly.
  3. 100 yards of the field is complete. Endzones are the next to be put in. Soccer lines will not be added except for the out of bounds lines. This is an NFL funded project therefore will be a true Football field. No extra junk in the middle. The new logo will be added once sidelines are put down. I'm told 1 week left.
  4. End zones will be green with blue lettering Cov Cath in one and Colonels in the other.
  5. Not sure. But what I know is that if a kicker is put in the same sentence as Evan Talkers, he is a good one. I've been told Matt Kloska has one incredible leg and 40 yards are nothing to him. It's a nice weapon to have and best yet, he will on be a junior.
  6. I believe Hornsby will no longer be doing the kicking as they now have a soccer player, Matt Kloska (sp?) , kicking for the team. Angel punting. Shelton longsnapping. The kicking will be much improved this year. Hearing that Kloska has a boot and has showed signs of Evan Talker-like. Boy do I miss his foot.
  7. A lot of people seem to be counting out this defense and only focusing on the Colonel offense this year, with good reason, because of a offensive minded head coach. But as much of you recall, the blue boys offense last year was highly anticipated and talked about yet this defense kept the Colonels in A LOT of games last year. Obviously many positions need to be filled on both sides of the ball with departing seniors but this defense, IMO, looks to be one of the top defenses in the class if not the state this year. The box for this Colonel defense looks to be the staple of the defense. With Steins and Sheilds up front, who are both returning starters from a year ago. Shelton and Sammons and/or Timmerman at the linebacker position. Hearing that Shelton is starting to be getting a lot of interest and looks from quite a handful of schools which is impressive considering he is only a junior to be. In the secondary, Pitzer - also getting some interest and looks from some schools. Thiel, Butler, and best look to staple the secondary. This defense is an athletic group of kids and hardworking to say the least. I think this defense will suprise a few people regardless of what type of scheme they run. Looking forward to a great year!!
  8. The official coaching staff for this season goes as the following: Eddie Eviston - Head Coach/ Offensive Coordinator Terry Brown-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Sam Beiting-Defensive Backs Tyler Gross-Offensive Line Pat Hancock-Defensive Line Nick Hovan-Defensive Line Dave Johnson-Defensive Backs Ashley Moser-Running Backs Benji Patenaude-Wide Receivers Andy Zerhusen-Offensive Line/Associate Head Coach
  9. If it's on Delhi where I think it is, not bad travel at all.
  10. Had 3 friends confirm it this morning. He will remain a teacher at CCH and coach at the Mount. Great news
  11. Dave Wirth will be, from what I've been told, co-offensive and special teams coordinator, WR coach, and I'm assuming recruiting GCL and NKY. Biggest news is he will be returning next year at CovCath to remain a teacher. Good for him and his family.
  12. Nick Hovan- Former Varsity assistant/JV assistant/freshman head coach and current CCH teacher(Health and PE I believe ) has been added to the staff as Defensive line coach.
  13. He does this weekly?!? That is one man with a whole lot of class who people should model after. Bravo Coach!
  14. Johnson Central, IMO, is a lock this year now that Highlands Ans CovCath have gone on to bigger and better things. Seems like every year JC talked about how it was the time to get over the hump of either HHS or CCH but always ended up losing to one or the other. JC is my EARLY prediction
  15. Ted Edgington was looked upon and asked about the head job at CCH. Even thiugh Ted had minimal varsity experience and one year as freshamn hc, I'm categorizing it in the same group. Although hiring a middle school coach with no head coach may be unorthodox, it could be best for that situation. Depends on the type of person and coach he is, not the way he calls his offense or defense. And at the end of the day, what the school thinks is most important. Wins or grown respectable young men(can certainly have both).
  16. This thread has been quite slow which surprises me. Why so quiet? On a more serious note, when does spring ball start for CovCath and when will their spring game be?
  17. I know one thing, this new Blue Colonels offense will play a lot better than the previous system. With the elimination of WR screens which they used to run just about every play it seemed like LOL. Chris Reisiger looks to be the next Big OL with D1 interest. Guys like McGinnis (sp?), Darlington, France, Schrand, and Ziegelmeyer all look to make HUGE impacts on the offensive side. The biggest question of the season: who will be leading the charge? Who will be calling the shots at QB????? The defensive box will be the staple of this defense and team IMO. Linebackers will be returning all starters from last year. Seniors to be Pitzer, Sammons, Timmerman and Junior Alex Shelton. I believe Pitzer and Shelton alone were both Top 3 in Tackles on the team last year along with the graduated Alex Wagner. I think Pitzer And Shelton are well on their way to the next level. Defensive line looks to be Steins, Sheilds, and the rest has escaped me. Defensive backs will need to fill a bunch of gaps with the players that have graduated. Anthony Best, Matt Thiel, and Kameron Butler look to run the show at DB. I really do not know much more about who will be filling in the spots that are now vacant. Most of the guys mentioned above either started last year as underclassmen or got significant time. No idea as to what type of offense or defense will be run. But I know Coach Eviston likes to score a lot of points. It's going to be a great year. Go Colonels!!
