Let me quit drinking my Purple Kool-Aid for a moment and brag on a 5A team that deserves some press. Imagine this statement coming from the late, great Howard Cosell. You know how to impersonate Howard! "Ladies and gentlemen. This is Howard Cosell. The surprise of class 5A this year is the Greenwood Gators. That's right, the Gators from Bowling Green. The most underrated player in the state of Kentucky, Mr. Jackson Adams. This kid is a phenomenal high school quarterback. Quit reading the news clippings on other quarterbacks across Kentucky. Jackson's numbers speak for themselves. He didn't only break the all-time records at Greenwood, he shattered them. His rushing yardage at the end of his career will be staggering and his legacy will live for many years through the halls of the school in which he attends. The Gators will take care of business on most of their Friday nights. Under their quarterbacks leadership, the Gators finally get to be on the other end of some running clocks, including a clock on the Bluebirds from Northern Kentucky. That's right folks you heard it from Howard Cosell first. This is the year of the Gators making some noise in their class." Now, as I pick up my Purple Kool-aide; the Purples, although as green as they have been in several years, should still run the table on all of their 5A opponents this year. Bulldogs travel to Bowling Green this Friday, August 11 (5pm central time) to scrimmage the Purples. Both teams have high hopes this season. Can 6A squad flex their muscles against BG? Can BG speed match Males speed? Should be a pretty good gauge for both squads to start out the season. Hoping scrimmage can be clean and crisp with no injuries. Male fans, BG fans - Although scrimmages are just a scrimmage and you can't get a real look at either team, what are your thoughts on this matchup. Interested in what others think about this matchup.

Bowling Green High School. Vito Tisdale. Sophomore. Freak Athlete. As a freshman, track coach talked him into running track. He won the individual Regional championships for 100M, 200M and long jump. On football field as a freshman, was arguably best defensive player on the team. Some may disagree with that statement, but many would agree. Already has offers from SEC, Big 10 and other power conferences. In 2 weeks he begins the season carrying the rock for first time since 8th grade year. I predict he will rush for 1200 yards this year, even with teams keying on him. Upside is huge and he is still rising. May be my bias but I feel as a senior (class of 2020) he will be a 5 star recruit. I think any person connected to the BGHS program would agree that if he remains healthy throughout his career he will be, by far, the highest rated, recruited player in BG history. Everyone in our part of region is aware of this kid, I think he will be on everyone's top players list by next season. Little Vito has the "IT" factor for the Purples.

Every team across the Bluegrass has a handful of very talented players. Although each player is talented in their own way, which player on your team do you see that really stands out. It doesn't have to be your QB or a skill player. Who on the team, in your opinion, has the "IT" factor? Brag on them a bit. Tell us what makes them so special and give us something to look forward to watching when we see them on the gridiron in a few Fridays from now. Have any stats or interesting facts about the kid? Give us the scoop on the player that you believe is the straw that will stir the drink for your team!!

Good kid. Should have a solid year. Coaches say he is improving still. He will be a great distraction and should cause some havoc with many offenses.

Coast to Coast Preps is calling Zion the best 8th grader EVER. Not my words. This Monday college coaches are allowed to contact summer AAU coaches so more offers will be coming. Again, crazy statements that are very bold statements as well. May or May Not be correct but he is certainly in the conversation.

If Zion Harmon is not at top of list, the list is wrong. However good he was last season, he's even gotten better. His summer accomplishments are beyond remarkable. I know many will say he is only a frosh to be but don't forget who he played (and shined) against this summer. If the other 9 on list is not top 50 national, Zion is certainly #1 in state. I hate that he left (and how he left) BG but that has nothing to do with his skill. National recruiting service last week put Zion in top 5 in Nation, regardless of class. Other 3 were seniors to be and 1 upcoming junior. The reporter thinks Z could even be ranked higher than that.

Purples are heading to the house (not the End Zone). Too banged up. We knocked the host school, Dalton GA, out of tourney, which was nice. Wallace was asked by the banged up players to let them play but he wouldn't do it. Don't blame him. I 5think in season we will be OK. Certainly a reload year but I like our chances. Next season - forget about it!

15 years old

Don't think he can go to a prep till after his Freshman year. I think its safe to say that after next season he moves again. Although I hate he left BGHS, I think kids that are rated that high (his ranking is deserved and he is a good kid) are puppets on a string. It shows you that AAU and summer leagues are in the drivers seat and high school varsity is in the backseat, at least with the elite players. The folks that have the Harmon's ears I can assure you are not huge fans of varsity, just AAU. I get it but 98% of fans don't. I wish the best for the kid. He will have a spectacular season and will then be a 5star at Oak Hill or Hargrave. IMO Good luck Harmon. Not a fan of AAU and the folks that are directing your decisions but know that you will get to play this game for many more years. It will be fun watching you.

For Purples, Vito Tisdale did not play in final 2 games (cramps). Never stepped on field. Hoping they are just saving him till tomorrow. I would think, if healthy, wed be 5-0. Oh well.

We are at different field than Ryle. We will know tomorrow. Purples lose 21-18 at end of game to North Murray. Let it slip through our hands. We still should make championship bracket tomorrow. Rain, thunder, lightning delay now. We will give update later tonight if we get final game in and then will hit it strong in the morning.

Purples QB, Beau BuCANNON, has played a great first 3 games (2 more today to go). 13 TDs NO INTs in first 3 games. Vito Tisdale (RB) looks like Vito. Scoring a few out of backfield. In real games, very hard to stop. Stouter completion in next game and a couple of stud teams tomorrow. Hotter than blue blazes but fun. Young secondary may be best story so far for the Purples. Bending but hadn't broke yet!

I started this thread simply stating the great honor he had on being selected to the National USA team. Not sure how the thread moved to what it is. Most posters are simply speculating on a non issue. Stick to the facts, man

Current assistant for Purples. Great young man. Played at Warren East. Coaching stints a handful of places, most notably was South Warren Head Varsity coach for a few years. Was at BGHS on staff before South Warren and has been #1 assistant at Purple land for a while. Most logical hire they could have made and in my opinion was the right choice.

This Thursday, July 13 at Noon, central time, the new varsity basketball coach will be announced.

Suprised not to see Darel Carrier mentioned. Carrier played for Bristow High School. Scored 3,148 points in 3 years WITHOUT the 3 point shot. If the 3 point shot would have been in play his High School scoring would have been crazy. Scored 1,368 points at WKU in only 69 games played. 3 time all ABA all-star. Named to top 50 all ABA team. Averaged 20 points per in his pro career. Still all-time high scorer in Pan Am games for USA (32 points). Pistol Pete, along with Hubie Brown had been quoted several times that Carrier could be one of top long ball shooters ever. Scored 64 as an 8th grader. Carrier has to be top 10, if not higher, in KHSAA history. Google him and you will find many more crazy stats that gives validity to my opinions.

Looking forward to the new faces for BGHS to suit up and give it a shot. They will have many kinks to work out but that's what makes these 7on7s valuable. 7on7 may not be everyone's cup of tea but it is good for the Purples, especially this year. Jimbo Fisher (Florida State) as well as assistants from schools like Georgia and Clemson was lurking around last year. The kids on the field perk up when they see these guys on the sidelines.

Wiseman from Ensworth and Zion Harmon from Bowling Green brought home the Gold for Team USA this summer. Both players excellent talent.

Good hearing from you devils58. Good luck to you guys this year. Blessed to have Dingle and Kenner for sure. I know many across state have raised eyebrows anytime a transfer comes in but remember, before any kid (any sport) can suit up they have to jump through KHSAA hoops to make it reality. Easy for posters on this site to point finger but I trust KHSAA will do their due diligence. Very true with BuCANNON. He has some huge shoes to fill. Clark Payne (IMO) is 2nd best QB in Purples history. His accuracy and minimal on field mistakes were record breaking. Beau is very talented and seems to be a winner. Our O line is basically new BUT these new starting linemen have lots of JV experience and has some size to them. Coach Wallace will very rarely get out coached and IMO his offensive scheme is second to none. Like you say, Beau will be determining factor. Tisdale perhaps can be highest rated player in Bluegrass history. Before people think I am on Purple koolaide overdose, consider this. He has not only been invited and played in US Army all American bowl his 7th, 8th and Freshman year but he has excelled. There are tons of player rankings out there (take with grain of salt) but according to the FBU all American ranking he was 2nd in America in his class. Safe to say he is top 50 recruit for 2020 class across the board. What is so interesting about him is his ranking currently is due to his defensive efforts. This season will be his first starting as a RB since he was an 8th grader (in 8th grade he had 2,100 yards rushing). I am certainly not the coach but I would allow Vito to play Defense the 3 or 4 games in regular season the games we need him. Will be very fun to watch. Again, good luck this season!
