With the season now half over, who are the favorites to win POY in your favorite region? I live in Louisville and follow the 6th and 7th Region very close. In the 6th Region I give the edge to Richard Gaines from PRP. Gaines has been outstanding for the Panthers. Doss pg DuJuanta Weaver is a close 2nd and could win the award as well. In the 7th Region I'm going to go with Jalen Perry from Ballard. Trinity is obviously loaded and Spalding is the best college prospect in the region but Perry has been playing with a ton of confidence this season. He has improved his jump shot and scoring at will. Thoughts? What about tbe rest of the state?

Your name says a lot about your basketball knowledge. YOU DONT KNOW JACK ABOUT THE GAME! Have you watched Jtown play this year? Not a lot of talent on that roster other then Johnson. And as far as the record, he broke it while facing double and triple teams. And if you ever watched him play you would know he can do a lot more then just shoot. He has a very high basketball IQ. He can get to the rim or pull up and knock down the mid range jumper. Nice passer and solid rebounder and terrific defender. You cant judge a player strictly on his team's record. Because just like the previous poster stated he started and averaged about 15 points per game for one of the top aau teams in the nation. You might want to watch a kid play first before making un-educated comments.

Jeffersontown has struggled this season but senior Brandon Johnson is having an outstanding season. He is averaging 28 points per game and shooting over 40 % from behind the arc. Tonight he poured in 35 points, 24 in the first half, on 7-12 from three. He was fighting double and triple teams all night and still played very good. He has a lot of looks from D2 and D3 schools but this kid is a solid D1 prospect.

In the 6th region I know Richard Gaines is averaging about 28 ppg for PRP and Brandon Johnson is averaging 27 ppg for Jtown.

I was at the game and it was a good one. I thought Washington's shot at the buzzer was going in. Fern Creek could be scary good by the time those freshmen are juniors and seniors.

Its been a tough year for the Chargers so far but last night senior Brandon Johnson set a school record. The 6-3 scored 23 points and hit 6 three pointers. With his 5th 3 Johnson became the school's all time leader in 3s made passing Nick Gagel. Anytime you can say you have hold a school record thats pretty impressive. Congrats to him and good luck the rest of the season.

At this point in the season I think Doss is clearly no. 1. They had an outstanding showing in the KOB. PRP is no. 2 and I like DeSales but I would still put BE no. 3.

Great call on Weaver and Gray. Weaver has been playing out of his mind in the KOB. He has scored 60 pts in two games.

Bell and Tyler at Boyle is a good choice and Eaves and Perry at Ballard is a good choice also but Im going with Quentin Goodin and David Sloan at Taylor County. Goodin is one of the top juniors in the nation and Sloan is small but he is very quick and he handles the ball very well. He does an excellent job getting to the basket.

Johnson was not only the game's leading scorer but he also did an outstanding job guarding Waggener standout Devon Cooper. Cooper is a big time talent and he only scored 12 points last night.

Wow what a game at Jeffersontown tonight as the Chargers upset a VERY talented Waggener team by 4 at home. Senior Brandon Johnson led Jtown with 22 points. Jtown looked a lot better tonight.

Brandon Johnson is a stud but he has absolutely NO help. Zero! If someone doesn't step up it could be a long year for the Chargers. Johnson is averaging over 30 ppg and they are still only 1-3

Has Fairdale announced who their new boys basketball coach will be? I know Gregg Longacre retired but I don't remember seeing who his replacement will be

Brandon Johnson is a stud!! If you haven't had a chance to see him play you should. He's a 6-foot-3 guard who is lights out from behind the 3 point line. He has gotten a lot better taking the ball to the basket as well. He has a chance to be one of the top scorers in the state this season. Look for him to average atleast 25 points per game Very underrated imo

Just wanted to take a moment to congratulate The Ville on winning the 2014 AAU National Championship.

PRP has been one of the top teams in KY for the last two years but with Harris, Hunter and McDaniels gone it could be somewhat of a rebuilding year IMO. With that being said I expect Richard Gaines to have a breakout year. I watched PRP play about 10-12 times last season and I thought Gaines showed flashed of being a really good player. After watching the dunkfest he put on in the All Star game at Bellarmine last Saturday there's no question he's one of the top players in the 6th Region.

Evan Hall is stud. Period! Athletic, strong and very aggressive. When he dunks it looks like he wants to break the backboard and rim. IMO he isn't underrated but I think he is one of the top 10 players in KY.

I even reading through these posts and I cant figure out why no one is talking more about Johnson from Jtown. He scored 24 pts in their first game Sunday morning and was solid throughout the tournament.

Who are some players around the state that you think aren't getting the recognition they deserve? I graduated from JTown in the 90s and I like to take my son to watch their games when I get a chance. They have a junior named Brandon Johnson that can play. He's about 6-3. He can shoot and he is a great passer Seems like he always finds the open man and he plays great defense. Anybody have any info on him? Any schools looking at him? Also what other players around the state deserve more recognition?
