1994 T vs Boone County led by Shaun Alexander. T was a big underdog that year with 4 losses but our own Shawn Johnson took the opening kickoff and momentum in for a TD. Our DL was instructed to shoot the gap and make a pile to let our two stud linebackers take down Alexander all day long. First team in a long time to hold him to less than 1oo yards.

I've worked the Nike camp in Ga a few times and I've seen tons of kids who couldn't even start at the JV level. Although, I haven't worked them in the last 4-5 years so maybe things have changed.

I'll disagree with this. I've gotten kids who have played since they were 5 and they are light years ahead of someone with the same athletic ability that has never played before. It's rare down here to get a player who has never played before turn out to be a stud if they have never played before. One year I had 4 players show up as freshmen who were all between 6'2 and 6'4 that weighed between 250 and 270. They were so raw that they got abused by kids half their size that had played before. It does take a mix of talent and coaching but if you want to be a successful program you need a successful feeder program.

I remember those tough Boone County teams from the 80's and 90's. I'd love to see them bounce back and dominate again.

1. I can respect that but I also like that our head coach goes with the JV and lets us do our thing. I've seen some head coaches stand next to the freshmen coaches and tell them what play to run every down. 2. We have a few JV kids who play on special teams but anyone on our 2 deep doesn't get to play JV. 3. All of our Junior League games are played on Saturdays. 6th grade starts at 1 pm, 7th grade starts at 4 pm, and 8th grade starts at 7 pm (usually, some teams starter earlier). Plus the little ones who play all day at another field. I should say that schools in our region have anywhere from 1900 to 2800 students so depth from JV kids is not as much of a problem with us. And we have 5 freshmen coaches and 9 varsity coaches so we can afford to split the games on Thursday nights.

Why don't schools in Ky play Frosh and JV games on the same night? If the freshmen are home then the JV are away. It makes it so much easier for the coaches and I absolutely hate playing games on Monday. The kids don't get the usual 2-3 days rest from games and we experience more injuries because of it.

I hate it, but it's a part of the game now.

Was this the game where the qb hears the horn and throws the ball into the air at the end of the game even though the play was still live?

Some of you folks are reading too much into a scrimmage. My school (6a) just lost a scrimmage to a (4a) school that we were up 20-0 after scoring on our first 3 drives and pulled our starters. Folks in our community are ticked and folks in their community are stoked but it is what it is, a scrimmage. No sense in getting too excited or too upset.

It's 30 points down here in Ga and we don't have too big of a problem with it. The running clock doesn't start till the second half so most coaches keep their foot on the gas pedal until halftime. The closer we get to the playoffs the longer our starters will stay in.
