Beechwood 8 Scott 4
Great player, had a a couple hits, believe he was the one that Slusher robbed as well. Really good hands and feet behind the plate as well. Best catcher I have seen so far, either side of river.

Beechwood 8 Scott 4
Yep, he was #42 for the Frosh champs, virtually unblockable @ DE and best blocker I saw all year. Started for Varsity Tigers in playoffs. Ethan was the tailback, #32. Slusher was #82, WR/LB. Both of them got significant minutes during playoff run. Still think the QB Fieger will be in the varsity pitching rotation by mid April.

Beechwood 8 Scott 4
You could throw a blanket over those two, and Slusher is not far behind. Brayden is 6'4 225 and a silent assassin, very unassuming. Throw him a fastball he is going to kill it. Ethan is much more flamboyant, 6'1 180, eye black and extremely high energy. While Combs is a pure power hitter, Stringer sprays it but has plenty of pop. Runs like a deer. Still learning to play CF, is a RF for his summer team. Measured at 88 from outfield at one of those showcase things. Combs still learning to play 3B, is strictly a 1B up to this point. Slusher can play anywhere. Future is bright in the Ft.

Beechwood 8 Scott 4
Combs2-3 2 HR now has 3 already. As I said, the best power hitter in Northern Ky, bar none, and I don't care that he is a freshman. Stringer 2-3 double and the pitching line. Scott got no good swings off him, he was blowing his fastball past them and mixing it up with his breaking stuff. Slusher 1-3 Awesome catch in outfield from what I understand Suchanek flied out to wall twice Schmidt 1-2 Rendering huge two run single in 7th to give the four run cushion. BW played with an all underclassmen team, including three frosh, 2 sophs and 4 juniors.

Players to watch
Yep. It was in the game at NKU.

Players to watch
If we are including the Cincy side of the river, get out and watch the Bennetendi (sp?)kid from Madiera. Best player in area. He is headed to Arkansas and is simply a stud. Can anyone confirm wth is up with Shannon at Moe? He is not even on their roster on schools web site. On the Ky side, other than the obvious. I watched Campbell County play Saturday. Loved their leadoff hitter, #15. Pushed a great bunt past pitcher and beat it out easily, then ripped a double in gap late vs the BW pitcher who had been dominate up to that point.

Beechwood 4 Conner 2
Dude, you really need to have that Midland issue resolved. Again, for the 100th time, I was not in any way putting down the competition that your kid, or any other, has played nor was I comparing. It was merely a context in which I was mentioning that as FRESHMEN, these kids have been groomed to play at the varsity level now, more so that most FRESHMEN in this area. Not comparing them to juniors or seniors, simply making an argument to those that refuse to accept that maybe there are some FRESHMEN that have played as good of competition as 14 years olds as they are going to see in NKY varsity baseball. If you don't think the East Cobb Astros, Dbats, Georgia Roadrunners etc current 15u teams couldn't step on a varsity field right now around here and compete, I would contend you are 100% incorrect. Are there kids in this area as good or better, ABSOLUTELY. Are there teams that can beat Midland in a game in this area? ABSOLUTELY. You lose all reading comprehension when anyone mentions Midland and read way too much into it. As for my "excuses", it's freaking fall ball, who in the heck cares? How is my mentioning it anymore an excuse that you casually mentioning that Cooper was w/o three players, two starters, when they played Beechwood? Seems exactly the same to me. Really man, ungrind that axe.

Elimnation of transfer rule/Recruiting?
This. Extremely common in basketball especially. Many of the top recruits play on more than one HS in their careers. They often transfer to play with AAU teammates. Chane Behanan(sp) is a local example. From Cincy to BG. Not unusual at all.

Beechwood 4 Conner 2
Was at that game. Midland was minus two of their best, and Combs did not play due to minor football injury. Btw͵ they were still the 14s, not the 15s. Freedom scored 6 off of Shannon early. Kid throws 93, but is not a pitcher. Walked several. No idea the the coach brought him, much less started him, other than they wouldnt have had a team to field. As for these kids, its still early. Not yet ready to declare them all region kids, but to suggest they were not going to be prepared to play the brand of HS ball they are seeing is absurd.

Beechwood 4 Conner 2
Freshmen like these two arent freshmen in experience. Has been beat to death, but the comp they have played in summer is simply the best in the country. Thats what some of us tried to explain. They have been prepared for this, and thus far are not only contributors but are leading the way hitting the baseball. Tigers only had five hits it appears. Combs two, Suchanek two and Stringer one.

Elimnation of transfer rule/Recruiting?
Very good post. Agree with premise completely.

Beechwood vs Cooper Tonight at Florence Freedom
Tiger frosh seem to be ok so far. From what Ive been told, Combs had two hits and two rbi vs Grant and two more vs Cooper with 3 rbi, hitting out of 4 hole. Stringer had 3 hits and two rbi vs Grant and two hits and 3 rbi last night, hitting in 2 hole. Fieger pitched last 3 innings last night and gave up one run. Heading out tomorrow to NKU to watch them vs Campbell County.

Elimnation of transfer rule/Recruiting?
You mean lack of aggreeing with your opinion? I wish kids had to go to school where they live too, but all that does is strengthen the parochials even more. If legislature is passed that also includes them, such as you must live in the parish and attend mass there, then sign me up, I'm all in.

Elimnation of transfer rule/Recruiting?
Maybe you should do a little research. Happens all the time. DeShawn Stephens is the starting C @ SD State. While watching them play vs FGCU, announcers made note that he was a JV player through his JR year, and got cut as a senior. Still found his way to a D1 school. It happens, especially at larger schools like a big 6A school, and would be even more likely in hoops where only 5 can get on the field. You seem to be very emotional about this subject, hit home a little maybe?

Midland Open ID Showcase- June 19th 2013
If youve ever been to a game out there, that is not that unusual. Great place to watch a game, nice shaded place right behind home plate. Thats where a lot of scouts will be, but the high profile ones usually end up upstairs.in the clubhouse.

Who are the power hitters to watch this year?
Dark horse? I know many here dont want to hear it, and yes I get it, but there arent many around that have the pop of the two Frosh At Beechwood. Combs may get limited by that deep right porch, but Ethan should be salivating to hit em up on the gym, but they can both hit them out of any park.

Who are the power hitters to watch this year?
From Ballard, how about Ricky West? Kid has been a freak since he was 8. Not a big kid height wise, but strong and crushes the ball. I know he logged varsity time as a frosh. He and DeLeon were a formiddable duo with the Longhorns.

Top pitchers in the 10th Region?
You also have to trust the ability of the reporter to recognize a four seam from a two seam, which is a tad slower pitch. Same with a cutter. Maybe a kid knows how to adjust his grip and take a little off? Way to many variables to make a blanket statement. Why does 78-84 mean he was 78-81? Maybe the 4 seamer was sitting at 83-84, two seamer 78? Bottom line is who cares? Bronson arroyo flips it up there in the 70s often, but he gets major league hitters out.

Per Midland twiter, followed it up with a laser to center in his next at bat, 2 for 2 with a walk. Also pitched 123 inning with 2ks. Combs with double.
