  1. If the Brossart player was given a card on the injury play, I do not have a problem with it seriously. I mentioned in my post that I felt it was too physical and out of control. I may have had a different angle to say that the ball was cleared...thought it was bang-bang...but reckless. I've witnessed too many plays this year in games where I feel yellow cards are not given out nearly enough for the safety and control of the game; and it's been that way the entire year where I think these players are fast, strong, and if more cards are given out for reckless play then i think it will save a lot of injuries in the future...which i think is the most important thing. The foul count you mention...every parent and referee will have a different opinion on what they see and what color they are wearing (honestly). The calls for the most part are objective and they let a lot play on thru the course of the game. I'm not a fan of it...you let some grabbing and holding go and some they don't. I dont know why CC had 12 fouls to BB's 1...did they foul harder or was it more obvious? Dont know. That's why i like swimming (swim the fastest) and track/cross country (run the fastest)...there is very little objectivity. Flops...i see more flops in the boys games...i dont see BB girls flopping on a regular basis. The tripping call in the box in the first half was the easiest call of the night...great stop by the CC goalie on the PK that followed. I didnt like the play in the 2nd half on the CC goalie either personally...but i dont know the rules of her being able to play the ball from outside the box back into the box and what was still a loose ball. Foul was called deservedly. I still feel it was a well-officiated game and we'll all have different opinions on watching the same game...and what we each see.
  2. Officials seemed to be aware of this game from the start...warning parents of their comments during the injury timeout accordingly. Both sides will see it differently i'm sure...it was a foul (do not believe a card was warranted or given)...called correctly...it was too physical and out of control in my opinion as most plays are in soccer when two players are going for the ball i will agree..but it was a bang-bang where both went to head the ball. As for the officiating comment, not sure what calls you're referring to. I think it was a well-officiated game that needed and did have everything under control. Camel defense was outstanding and the goalie made some nice plays!...and they kept the pressure on the offensive end for much of the game. Best of luck to both teams next week as well.
  3. Thanks for all the pics out there Panda!!! You do so much for all the kids in the area with your photos!!!
  4. Very good game tonight at NKU for the Lady Stangs senior night. Scoreless at the half. Lady Stangs net a goal early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead which held up for a while. The Lady Birds net two break-away goals to take this game 2-1. Orth with the lone goal for the Stangs...someone from the HHS side can maybe help with who scored the goals for the Lady Birds. Nice tune-up game for both teams heading to districts next week. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.
  5. Final from Wednesday night at Boone....2-2 at half...
  6. Two starters...one offensive and one defensive...shouldn't have mattered...you have to play with intensity and Brossart had 55 mins of "didn't seem to want to be there" effort....not from every player though. But as a team, this was a bad effort and can't take anything away from Villa.
  7. NCC is a very good team...very tough on the ball and physical, very good team speed, very very good defense. They really pack it in on corner kicks and are very tough to score on. They are young too. I will be watching to see how far they go...
  8. I disagree with you...this thread is started on speculation with apparent knowledge of a conversation from the sideline, but dont name the schools? Then whenever this team goes and plays another school with the same mentality, and all of a sudden both schools have issues...when in fact if it is one specific team? If you "know" something, then it should be okay to post it...otherwise you're just posting more speculation. I never think a kid's or player's name should be called out...i feel in 99.5% of situations the kids are off limits....but a coach or a school's coach is fair game if they are telling and instructing these kids in that manner (if it's true).
  9. Why would you suggest this game? This was probably one of the cleanest soccer games I've watched this year. Very few fouls and textbook defense and on-ball play by Ryle.
  10. Why would you suggest this game? Ryle beat Brossart 1-0 last night and it was the cleanest soccer game I think I've watched this year.
  11. First thing, it really probably is just a "few" parents and not the majority. Most of the parents on both sides know most of each other. I'm guessing it would happen at any game where everyone is so close to each other on the sidelines rather than being spread out in a stadium. I wasnt sitting close to mid-field so i have no specifics
  12. Actually, those were there Saturday. Dont think we need to make too big of a deal out of the BBHS and CCHS game...just a good rivalry.
  13. Thanks. I took your comments as completely instructional and very informational. I hear it from the stands all the time "no way she was offsides" and things like that and just say to myself "there is no way you could have seen that". Thanks again!
  14. Thanks Bothways. I appreciate the insights and explanations on the rules. I admittedly don't know the details. And when I ask parents on the sidelines about a play (from ones that i think would really know to explain a situation) I always seem to get different answers. I thought the whistle on the restarts after fouls were viewed similarly to throw-ins from the sidelines...where the team with possession hurries up before the defense has a chance to set up...part of keeping the advantage. As to the goal, I will agree 100% with your statement that it is a 0% chance to see a play like that...as well as offsides from a viewpoint from the sidelines. But i will say I was standing less then 20-ft from that end's goal line so I did have a near parallel view of the ball over the line. It was a very athletic play from the Camel defender, so i am not taking anything away from her effort and ability...i was very impressed. My suggestions were pipe-dreams...i wasn't being completely serious. It would take away from the speed and momentum of the game that is soccer.
  15. The game was a very physical game, and when they meet again most likely in the district final and maybe the regional final, they will be physical games as well. There are some very talented players on both sides and these will be very enjoyable games to watch..they were last year too. I just hope they remain physical and clean games...this is a great rivalry. I will agree with you on the officiating...part of the reason i'm not a big fan of soccer...seems to be too much objectivity in making a call...or allowing a play to continue with so much contact. I am not certain of the free kick you are referring to...my question is when do you have to wait for the refs whistle versus when you see (when there is a foul called) and the team sets the ball down and quickly kicks it? My recollection was that it seemed like a foul was called outside the box, there were no Camels players within the 10-yards or so, and there were no subs and the ball was placed and kicked into play. I've seen that "hurry up" play lots of times in games where i never heard a refs whistle to start play. So i will have to disagree regarding starting the play over, but i dont know the details of that rule. I tend not to like to critic officiating, but i dont know where the sideline ref was on the late corner kick that Brossart had. The Camel defender made an outstanding effort to clear the ball after it got past the goalie, but that ball was a full balls-length in the net. I hope the injury to the Camel player isn't too serious. Physical play, wet field, my view of the play was partially obstructed but i dont think it was a slide tackle. Looked like a play that happens 10-15 times during a game. From my vantage point, i thought they were both going and kicking the ball. Very unfortunate. Now i'll put in my "never will happen" suggestions to clean up soccer across the board....you see it all the time when a team has the lead late in the game...there's delays in substitutions, throw-in's, corner kicks...and fans are yelling at the refs to make them hurry up...why? Make soccer like basketball...1) have a scoreboard with an official on the clock starting and stopping the clock when the ball is in play..shorten the halves to 30-mins. 2) keeping the yellow and red cards in play, but only allow a player 3 fouls then they're out. I've watched high school soccer for 20 years and have always hated how so much frustration builds up during the course of the game.
  16. There were no easy ones for the district runner-ups. Other than Highlands, any of the last three games are possible to go either way...what a tournament the 9th will be. I hope they get great crowds there. What a fitting end to the girls 9th region this year...and I mean all sports this year!!
  17. Clyde, this doesn't have much to do about the rivalry...the schools look forward to playing against each other and beating each other. Nothing really happened in the game to start this...it turned into what it did...I just don't know if I was going round and round with a 17-year old. If I wasn't then I apologize for this assertion,or I got suckered into this...
  18. I'll post my final thoughts...then allow a rebuttal....then let's please close this thread (is my opinion)..... This thread has been good as it is filled with people's opinions..which is what it is for. Not necessarily the comments directed at players, coaches, or BGPer's...again i do apologize. How things were brought up or stated...i guess we will all have difference of opinions on the best way to opine. I have no ill-will towards any camel parent/fan (i have a lot of friends over there), and will always cheer for the Camels and want them to do well (in all sports) except for when they play against my daughter. I'll be on the "purple" side when my nieces start high school in a couple years (sorry BigGreenHorse and Coach Baynum). Fastpitch98, I never once thought that you don't care about the camel girls. I (similar to you) dont sit in the stands or go home with "my daughter did this or that or is awesome" goggles on.... If something isnt going right or i see her doing something wrong, we try to talk about it at home (sometimes, alot of times, maybe not the correct way at home). That's all i have to say other than good luck to the Lady Camels and Lady Stangs and hope we meet in the Finals..
  19. I'm moving on after this post, but there were Camels deserving of being selected, but i know your comment above is a bit of a general statement maybe that you feel they (the Camels team) didn't play a good game. I'm not taking that word for word. I think Orick (she had a lot of hits in the Scott game) was deserving, and Miller had multi hits...we defended her pretty well in our game; Mitchell & Walsh had multi-hit games. Like Brossart, I think it could have gone to a couple other players too. I've said numerous times on BGP that the Camels have some very nice young talent. But they are young (and when i say young i mean 8th/9th grade young...not sophomore young) and they will make mistakes...maybe a lot of mistakes...but they'll get better...they'll be even better next year. I really mean Good Luck on Monday when I say it. I said in my earlier post that I dont post on BGP....what i meant obviously is that I dont have hundreds or thousands of posts....100+ posts in three years is not much. So ok, you got me on a technicality.
  20. fastpitch98: May 20, 15, 09:58 PM No way did the 2 players from our team deserve the award. Originally Posted by fastpitch98 : Walsh 2nd Team???????????? I read your all-tourney selection comments as a slap in the face to the camel players and the Conference selections (which other teams coaches vote for). I agree 100% that Orick is probably the best player on that team. Maybe she also was deserving as well in the District tourney...she had solid games. As stated on here as well that coaches have probably 3 mins tops to make their picks. I also am critical of our team's performance but would never single out kids...you're right kids have bad games at times and i could argue that we haven't been playing our best the past two weeks. I respect opinions but just dont like when individual's awards are questioned in that way. I think everyone has had enough entertainment on this thread.
  21. Good luck to both Campbell County and Brossart on Monday in the 10th Region tournament. I hope the two schools can get a large crowd to make the long drive to Montgomery County. I hope their game times are back-to-back so that I can watch CC play as well...and win!
  22. I never posted who was hitting .800 in the district. I said the production from the top three hitters validated their selections, and i'll admit i dont have a memory to recall all the details of each atbat for them. The bunts towards the base lines...in my opinion probably were hits as I dont think they were going to get the outs. The "choices" that were made defensively by the camel infielders are NOT hits and neither are balls thru their legs...balls off the glove are boderline calls on degree of difficulty....I am not the official score keeper for the games so i dont know what is in the book. You posted things about the two Camels and Childress about their selections...I agreed with you that Shackelford could have been selected for the tourney team. I dont like your opinions/attacks on the two camel players selected...leave the kids alone. you could have posted "i dont agree with the camel selections" and have been fine. I would have valued your opinion. I didnt want to go to your posts from our Walton game last week, but seeing what you put there and then now on here...I just know that i will put far less value in your posts (and I think some Camel BGPer's will too). I'll leave you alone. I dont post on BGP, but I dont like attacks on kids on here and will defend them no matter what school they go to. Your comments turned it into what it is today.
  23. No, i think Lindsey Sendlebach's group won the region that year
  24. Doubt Meyers was intentionally buzzing the tower. Over the past couple of years, her control has gotten much better (knew it would come around). When she was an 8th grader, she drilled a good number of batters in the games we played against her. How did the collision play out on that at-bat/popup? Fair territory or foul territory? was she in a defenseless position looking up at the ball or after the catch?
