  1. Oh, and also from my vantage point, she beat out an infield single too.....
  2. You are right about my vantage point... I think Miller hit a crisp grounder to third...lined out to left...then doubled down leftfield line...
  3. I'd agree with your stand out players in this game...but i'd add Megan Seiter for Brossart for her pitching, and I'd also add Miller CF for the Lady Camels...she puts so much pressure on the defense with her speed...couple of real nice atbats too and the double to set up the winning sac fly...just so smooth defensively too..girl has a real future in softball. I think the Lady Stangs have a lot to improve on as well and need to come prepared to play in the District....i feel these two teams should meet up again in the finals, and it'll be another competitive game that could go either way (whoever is playing better obviously). Brossart definitely left some runs off the board too with base running and not getting the timely hits...but kudos to the Leicht pitching for moving the ball around. I feel both teams were victimized by some calls that could have went the other way...biggest one might have been the Graus force play at the plate where she was called out....from my vantage point she was sliding across the plate when the catcher caught the ball....but that was just my vantage point. Good luck the rest of the season!
  4. Ashley Leicht did a very nice job in the circle for the Lady Camels...definitely kept them off balance and made some quality pitches when she had to. Very competitive game that game down to the final at bat. Senior Danielle Orick coming through like a leader for the Camels with game-winning sac fly.
  5. I do not have the stats or book on this one, but little bit of a rough start to this game. Could have had something to do with the start time...supposed to start at 10:00...early in the morning it was pushed back to 11:00...get to the park and teams warming up and they start at 10:40 (est)....from a parent perspective the communication flow from the directors of this tournament needs improvement...i know the weather has something to do with it but this facility majorly lacks preparedness for hosting this tournament if there is rain in the forecast. Anyways....tired from a long weekend and an hour delay on 71 from a downed tree across the interstate... Both teams had to deal with an earlier start time...but Haley Meyers struggled coming out of the gate hitting the first batter and walking the next two without throwing a strike. Lady Stangs get just one run on a passed ball, then Meyers strikes out the next two and Lady Breds cut down the runner at the plate for the third out on a dropped third strike throw-to-first-then-to-home. Missed opportunity to only get 1 run, but i guess fortunate to get one without even touching the ball. Haley Meyers settled down after the first three batters and pitched a very commanding game until the 6th when Lady Stangs collected their first hits. Lady Breds damage came in the third and scored 4 runs on a collection of hits, fielder choices', passed balls, walks, and took advantage of given extra outs on the inning. More details will have to come from LB. Leadoff batter Kathryn Schrieber had three hits to get on base and/or to start scoring rallies at top of the order. It was 5-1 Breds going to bottom of sixth and Lady Stangs finally break thru with 3 straight hits capped by two-run single by Amanda Lloyd on an almost spectacular catch by CF (name?) but it dropped and it looked like we had some momentum. Ashley Childress followed with a single but the inning fizzled out with a couple groundouts, the last one being a bang-bang play at first that didnt go our way. There were about 4 close plays where the call went against the Lady Stangs. Giving props to some very nice defensive plays in addition to the almost diving catch by Breds CF mentioned above, Breds SS Lexy Breen made a "out of nowhere" catch on a shallow pop up literally behind the 3rd baseman that i thought was surely a hit placed over the infield. Then late in the game Brossart CF Riley Orth made two great catches, first on a deep drive to right center off Haley Meyers' bat and then the next inning made a diving catch coming straight in on a line drive. And following Riley Orth's first catch, SS Amanda Graus made a diving stop on a hard hit ball up the middle to get the force at second to end the inning. Lady Stangs mounted a little rally in the bottom of the 7th getting the top of the lineup back up but Meyers closed it out. That's all i got....
  6. The play by Ashley Childress in the 7th IS the best play that I've seen made this year in our games...fully stretched out up the middle on a very hard hit ball to flip to second for the force out. If that play isn't made, it's first and third with no outs... Without seeing all games, i'd still have to rank it up in the top 5 of the year...to say it was "nice" is an understatement...it was that good.
  7. I guess I recall some hard hit balls or good looking swings from her...nice young player and good stick behind Meyers.
  8. NewCath was pretty solid tonight. Brossart offense obviously didnt mustard a single threat to put any pressure on the defense. In my opinion, a pretty lopsided game for only being 4-0....Brossart on a little bit of a jet lag from Senior play over the weekend...hopefully the girls get focused after today. How many hits did Breen have? Seemed like she had some pretty good swings for not making LB's leaders.....
  9. No predictions in this one...with a more meaningful game next weekend. Could be a lot of runs scored...
  10. ^^^^^ Now that is funny right there !!! Back on topic....from a small school perspective, I agree with LB that you have to develop players on the JV level that you will or might depend on the following year. Wins and losses dont matter on the JV level at the expense of development, but it is important for the kids/players to understand game situations and be ready to contribute at the varsity level when called upon. Now, if you (i.e. Newarkcatholicfan) are following and watching a "large" school that has ample pitching and a D-1 pitcher that is coming back; bottom line in varsity sports if you have someone of that caliber in front of you (i.e. the #2, #3 or #2 from last year) then you probably are not going to pitch the meaningful games. I would guess the #3 and #4 pitchers are going to probably not get as much game time...best to learn another position or show what you can do in practice. JV teams are not going to play as many games as varsity, and if you "spread the wealth" of the innings pitched too thin or to too many players, then you run the risk of not properly getting someone ready for the next year. Just my opinion....
  11. I overlooked the thread title...no disrespect to other teams....I thought it was the final.
  12. Congrats to the Breds!! Will be seeing some familiar faces in Owensboro at the end of the month.
  13. Very nice competitive game tonight at the Birds' Nest (is that what you call it?) seeing the Lady Stangs take a 1-0 lead on an Amanda Graus two-out single in the third (?). Megan Seiter throws a nice game holding Haley Coffey, Bailey Spencer, and Shelby Graybill in check (maybe one hit between them but going off my memory). Bailey Spencer throws a gem for the Birds. Someone from the Highlands side may have to chip in with the names in the bottom part of their order with who had the hits and the two-run single for the lead. I know Brennah Dutcher was not in the lineup either.
  14. Lady Stangs win in the semi-finals of the All A and will face winner of Bracken County/Calvary Christian game. Ashley Childress got the scoring started in the first with an RBI double. Megan Seiter throws complete game. Will let BGH post the stats. Multiple hit game from Amanda Graus, Riley Orth, Amanda Lloyd, Ashley Childress, Kaitlyn Seiter, and Katie Reis with some good atbats.
  15. Meaning, if the MC coach had even tried to go to the mound to try and stall and extend their defensive inning by three minutes (in order to get the "win" so that the next inning would not have been started); I felt the umpires would have not allowed a stall tactic... Our games weren't close enough to see how these umpiring crews were handling the time limit in close games, but they definitely appeared to be hurrying the teams in between innings to take the field and resume play.
  16. In these games that had a "time limit", even a trip to the pitcher's mound wouldn't have been enough to kill that time...
  17. Highlands is the #1 team in northern Kentucky...i'd go as far as including the 9th & 10th regions (and probably the 8th if I knew more about the southern teams in that region).
  18. Fleming County comes to Alexandria and quiets the bats of the Lady Stangs. Brossart could only muster a lead-off single by Amanda Graus in the first inning, and squandered a second-&-third-nobody-out situation. Lady Stangs really only managed maybe 3 or 4 other base runners the rest of the game. Megan Seiter pitched a very good game in the circle. Fleming County scores their two runs in the 3rd (I think) on a two-out RBI single to right, then the other run is scored by an infield error to make it 2-0. Someone can help me out from Fleming County with names if they want, but they are pretty solid up up the middle with their pitcher, catcher and shortstop....very nice players.
  19. too late for college coaches to notice him now....he's Bellarmine bound and i'm sure they are thrilled!!!
  20. No worries...BGH needs some time too to get into the groove again after his winter hibernation...like everyone in the area, can't wait for the season to get into full swing...
  21. The Lady Stang that doubled and homered was their senior catcher Amanda Lloyd...
  22. Congratulations to the Lady Camels. They got some young talent that is experienced now to go with the Seniors. Happy for that bunch of seniors!
  23. Ok, not a statement game...if it is/was then you are comparing to wrong team(s).Mismatch....yes. Brossart missing senior PG and 1st Team All-Region C...outcome may not have been different. Mason is very talented and if they get out of the regional, then they have the team to make a run. Very nice team and they are young. They are fun to watch.
  24. I like the idea of St Pat or Augusta getting a piece of the regional tournament gate...I dont know how all that is divided out but until/unless the bigger schools want to compensate all the schools in the districts then I would be surprised the smaller schools would vote to seed if they have a majority (or it's even) in their district.
  25. Congratulations to Taylor on reaching the 1,000 pt club!!! Her dad could handle the rock in his days!!
