What a great defensive game on both sides. Abby Unkkaut did not play. Sunny Richesson (NDA) and Laurel Frazier (Conner) both left the game with injuries. Wishes for speedy recoveries for both these ladies. Great saves made by Conner GK Ally Welch.

I was not able to attend the Conner/Brossart game but from what I gather from updates from parents and family, they struggled with offense, especially the second half. Conner was not able to get one corner kick. They have new kids playing and make take a little adjusting but no doubt Coach Hughes will get them up to speed quickly.

Chloe and Grayson both decided to hang up school soccer. The word around is that Riley Kidman is at Beechwood but will not be able to play varsity there only JV. I assume it has something to do with the new law about moving schools. I should also mention we are returning our sophomore goalie Ally Welch who shared the starting GK role last year but should have the role all to herself for the next three years.

Below is the upcoming schedule for preseason Soccerama at Beechwood August 5th and 6th.

Will be an interesting match up! The two schools tied last year 3-3 at the beginning of the season.

Conner red team went 2-0 with wins against East Carter 5-0 and McCracken County 2-0. They lost their second game on Saturday due to Ohio County dropping from the games.

Pandas will be tough like they are every year. Anyone who takes them down will likely be firing on all cylinders and kids having the games of their lives, not impossible but a mountain to climb for sure. I think Conner is still deciding who is on what team and uses this weekend to make final placements. Purely speculation, I think the red team playing the B schedule will mostly be made up of the varsity team and the blue team playing the C schedule will have potential only varsity players and junior varsity players. I too like the fact that NKY teams were drawn away from other NKY teams. It will be a great weekend of soccer. It's going to be a hot one! Good luck to all the teams.

During NKU's team camp, I witnesses an opposing coach going absolutely hard against a ref. He got T'd up and the ref told him not another word. The coach kept going at him and got T'd up again and the ref asked him to leave. Said coach refused to leave and said if he was made to leave he was taking his team with him. This was nine minutes in to the game. The gals at the table had to call the girl's coaches of NKU to help resolve. Until an NKU coach arrived, you could hear the parents from the other side saying to let the kids play, this is typical behavior for this coach and that he needs to leave. After the assistant showed up and couldn't resolve the situation the head coach came and it was agreed upon the ref would leave, the assistant coach was to take over and the head coach was to remain seated and silent the rest of the game. Seriously, a twenty minute delay for this childish behavior? These are college kid refs and summer basketball?
