  1. Will Collins put a better line up on the floor than Walton Verona's top 5/6 players of 6'10 D1 recruit Miles, 6'9 Brook, 6'5 Pardee, 6'4 Bonne, and the solid guard play of Garrett Jones and Grant Grubbs. Heard that Garrett Jones played so well this summer that he was asked to play with MATTS Mustangs last weekend. Miles also played with MATTS last weekend and hit six 3's one game, pretty impressive at 6'10. What will Collins line up look like?
  2. WV will only go 7 maybe 8 deep this year and they were missing one of their top 6 guys. From what I have seen in their really competitive games this summer is that coach only feels comfortable with 7 guys. He does have a couple young nice players but they are probably a year away.
  3. Yes with shoes on, which he usually plays with them on.
  4. People have not seen the Walton team they will put on the floor this year which is understandable as to why they are not familiar unless they have watched them the past 2 weeks. They are currently starting Grubbs at point, Jones at the 2 guard, 6'4 Pardee at the 3, 6'9 Brook at the 4 and 6'11 Miles at center. They then bring 6'4 state high jumper Bonne off the bench who has plenty of game. Miles, Bonne and Brook all had limited varsity action last year but the other 3 are well tested at this point. Like I said, WV would much rather come in flying under the radar but if you have watched them the past 2 weeks that will be hard to do.
  5. Absolutely. I have always been one to not put much stock in to summer ball but after watching them a few times this summer its hard not to see the talent they have and know that people are underestimating them. Again, I think it is the way WV wants to go into the season. I think they would much rather have people look at them as the 5th best in the region.
  6. Impressive showing for Walton Verona as we have many posters ranking Collins, Oldhams, Sk, Spencer in front of them in the 8th. If all those teams are better than the Walton Verona team that has handidly beaten GRC twice now, beat LCA by 30, beat Lex Cath, beat Pickerton OH and have only one loss this summer to Scott County by 12 then the 8th is LOADED. Or people are underestimating the talent returning for WV, which I am sure they are okay with.
  7. I am not positive, not real familiar with Mason Co. Walton-Verona also played at Lex Cath on Thursday beating Sayre by 20 and George Rogers Clark by 13. They were up on GRC 30-10 at half and completely dominated them, GRC made a nice run in 2nd half to cut it to 5. WV played the entire game with only 6 players.
  8. Walton Verona played at Lexington Catholic today. They beat Lex Cath in a close one and beat Mason County by around 20. Miles is back for WV and will make strong push for POY in 8th region.
  9. Dan Sullivan sent an email to the WV aau group that he has accepted the position at Ludlow.
  10. Got literally nothing out of that video. Wide open threes with no one within 5 feet, terrible on ball defense just letting him drive right down the paint and no help side defense or anyone stepping up for a charge. Only thing I got out of that video was a sick feeling having to watch that defense.
  11. Pretty good word that Sullivan applied as well. Will be interesting to see which route they go, don't think you can go wrong with either hire.
  12. I believe Dan grew up in Ludlow and went to school there for many years in early childhood before going to Fort Thomas, someone else may be able to confirm that.
  13. Dan does most of the scouting for which grade level? I can assure you with 100% that he does not do most, or any, of the scouting for the varsity boys team and even he would tell you that. I do agree that he does a tremendous job with player development with all the grade levels.
  14. He retired from assistant principal position 4 years ago. Has been an assistant with the Varsity team and current Freshman coach since then. He won a regional championship in the early 2000's with Campbell County and I believe may have even been Walton's varsity boys coach at one point. No clue about blonde hair, he probably wishes his hair was still blonde.
  15. Does he have a 10th region championship?
  16. Kunkel was not at tryouts either and made the team.
  17. I could never get past the itchiness of the first week or so but would love to some day.
  18. That is what makes the game so special, in a win or go home situation you never know how teenage boys are going to play. Just ask Virginia, Arizona, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Xavier. ANYTHING can happen, doesn't take away the fact that WV lived up to their hype and had a GREAT season.
  19. Very much overhyped. Made it to the state all A championship and won 3 games in the KOB and beat your Pioneers in the district championship all with their 6'10 center on the bench injured... very much overhyped.
  20. Did you forget that 6'10 Miles did not play the majority of the season? How do you know their size didn't help this year when most of the size was injured?
  21. They will definitely not be as skilled in the point guard position, Stanley was a treasure for them this year. They do have some solid guards in Garrett Jones and Grant Grubbs who both got plenty of playing time during the season. Also, Trey Bonne may have been the best or one of the best JV players in the 8th region last year. He is one of the best athletes that WV will put on the floor next year. I think WV will have a solid first 5 next year but will not have near the amount of depth they had this year.
  22. I am thinking 6'10 Miles would have scored more than 7.1 ppg if he had played for Walton-Verona the whole season. I would think he should be a favorite for player of the year next year in the 8th, hopefully his rehab is coming along nicely and he hits the floor soon.
  23. I know we have already had a thread about Yuengling coming to KY. From what I remember the distribution was to begin in March. Does anyone have connections to find out exactly when this month we can expect to find it?
  24. 2017- Did not make tournament 2016- Lost 1st round 2015- Lost 1st round 2014- Lost in Finals 2013- Lost in semis 2012- Lost 1st round 2011- Lost 1st round 2010- Lost 1st round That is a lot of 1st round losses/did not make for a school of 1700 kids in one of the biggest counties in the state.
