Please do PM me so I can be educated on what's going on with our program. As far as to where I sit during games, I am right there in the stands for most of the games. If my butt starts to hurt I may get up and walk around.

Soccer clubs 10 years ago are not the same as today. These teams are training 3-4 times a week at the u11 age group. There was not KHA Academy, CUP Gold, Crew Juniors, and OE. Where the clubs around..sure but not that level of training. Anybody that is involved with these clubs in a director role will tell you this. Maybe other areas of the country were but not in this area. If you watch soccer at all especially during the World Cup you would have heard them saying that in today's time these younger players are more skilled and knowledgable than years past. This doesn't mean they are all better but their development is at a higher rate for some of these players. If the club programs around here haven't produced more talent than 10 years ago then explain to me why the level of soccer in this area is better?

C'mon, really? If you believe that KHSAA allows middle schoolers to play to field teams then I also have a piece of ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. 22 years ago Highlands girls basketball team had plenty of girls players to field a team on all levels but for some reason Jamie Walz was playing Varsity???? Reason? Because she was better than most if not all the other players. KHSAA received so much pressure from high schools to bring up younger and more talented players that they gave in. They may say it's to supplement teams but we all know that is not the case. It started years ago with basketball and baseball and now it's soccer. Why? It's because the younger kids have had more exposure to the game with high level clubs that were not around years ago. Just face it. Some of these upperclassmen were not given that advantage. There are probably some 7th and 8th graders that are better players than most varsity members on the roster. Is the maturity there no but their talent is undeniable and that is why they are playing frosh. Let's put it this way.....Hey Emily, you have made the freshman team. Congrats. Have a good season. Emily is a freshman at her high school. What Emily doesn't know is that she was one of the last girls to make the team. What Emily also doesn't know is that there are 5-7 7th and 8th graders better than her coming up. Coach knows this. So when Emily is a Soph she comes to tryouts and gets cut because that incoming frosh class is too good to keep her. Now we have Emily upset and her parents are crying about her not making the team. False expectations would be set for those players who fall in this criteria. The parents complain and want the coaches head and start bad mouthing to all the other parents. This has been evident on this site before. "Old" times versus new.

Middle school students have been playing high school sports for years. Of course when they do they are taking a 9-12th graders spot on the team. Who cares? Talent over grade level if the players maturity can handle it. Have you really been trying to argue this for over 20 years. Get over it, KHSAA did years ago.

You have the ear of all these players and parents??? I think not. I have been at every game as well and I never saw what you supposedly saw. I believe he knows quite a bit about the game. What "other" coaches would be questioning his coaching or style? I would have to question their character. I will guarantee it's not a coach from another high school team. Maybe it's a club coach who thinks they know more than others. I frankly don't care. Who is the player that quit? I see no one missing on the field. Maybe your correct but I will ask my daughter since she is on the team. See that is what you don't understand. I try to listen to people's opinion on here and try to listen to what they are saying but when I hear crap like this and I have a kid on the team that see's things first hand then I have to question it. I am sure you would be surprised to know that he was Club Coach of the Year last year. Kings wanted him to take an Academy Team. I don't want to hear that it was because they wanted his players either. I have heard it all before. The style of play may not be quite adaptive for some of the girls on the current varsity roster but it does work. You are not always going to be the fastest team on the field but if you understand the 4-3-3 then there should always be support to cover lapses like that. I am not going to debate formations though. It is what it is. He is a new coach trying to adapt his style to girls that have never played it before. There is a learning curve. Didn't help not having one of the best players in NKY play club this fall instead of for HHS. As far as being out of shape...then every parent/player you have talked to should have been able tell you that he said you should be in shape when the season starts. The team themselves were having player ran practices. They did some running on their own. I don't tell my daughter to get in shape at practice. Please, I have her go run on her own and get in shape. That is a pathetic excuse. I think these conversations are quite amusing. Everybody acts like they know everything but really only know a few pieces of info. Classic for this site. I don't put up here say on here. If I don't know it I don't talk about it. If your facts about what is going on with the players and parents then why isn't something being done. After all this crap I hear, I am starting to wonder why he took the job myself. I would never coach in this town. You are praised by few and questioned by many. I seem to remember the boys parents running off Coach Roberts a few years ago. Vicious cycle if you ask me.

Sour grapes. I stand or sit next to some of you at every game that are commenting in these post. Let's support the girls, the coaches, and the program instead of stirring the rumor mill and crap hear say pot. No one wants to sit around at a game and hear bashing of team and coaching the whole game. Go Bluebirds!

I don't think we are going to agree on any of the statements being made about the 7th and 8th graders being on the Frosh team. We are also not going to agree about the state of the Highlands girls program and the coach. I back all 3 teams and all 4 coaches. I don't think there is a "state" of this team. I don't think it's unfair for upperclassmen to not make the team over 7th and 8th graders. I think if parents were more realistic about the son or daughter sports would be a lot more enjoyable.

Jack I have no problem with the record of last years team. They were a very good team that did not turn it on until the end of the season but that's when it counts. They were winning big games even though their record was around .500. Once again the key word there is "winning" big games. I don't care about August wins because of the tough schedule they have played. Most of these 7th and 8th graders are playing club and one top teams. So I think their development is not an issue. Some club coaches would say more touches on the ball the better. The advantage is they get to learn the style of play the current Varsity coach wants. They will be ready for JV or Varsity as Freshman. That means ready to compete for State Titles. I hope with as many knowledgable people that are on here and some of them being Highlands supporters they would know how much talent there is in the 7th, 8th and freshman classes. They have just as much talent as NDA, St.Henry, LexCath, etc. upcoming classes. We all pay the same athletic fee to play the game so I don't it's unfair f

Is it about fielding the best team with the girls that show up to tryouts or about keeping only high schoolers that show up. For your information he would have no goalies on the freshman team if it wasn't for 7th graders. Both goalies are 7th graders. I know if I am coaching I am taking the best players that I have at tryouts. I don't care that a player is a freshman if she is not as good as a 7th or 8th grader then I am not keeping her. I am not going to sugar coat it and keep her on the team and then turn around and cut her the next year for JV. If she is not as good as the underclass man then it will eventually catch up to her unless she improves. High school sports are about wins and losses. This sight would nothing if that was the case. It doesn't matter if it's Frosh, JV, or Varsity, they all want to win.

Yes they did and it was a well played game by both teams. Congrats to NDA on the win. Poor heat conditions to deal with for both teams. The run by NDA #6 that lead to the winning goal was impressive. She made that same run with the ball about 2mins before that one. Nobody on Highlands stopped her on either one.

My opinions are that this forum shouldn't be about talking trash about a coach, a team or a player. If you don't like the way that someone coaches..fine. To question their integrity "daddy's coaching", is not needed.

He has never been out of control to date. Whatever you heard, you may want to check yourself. He did not take this coaching job for his daughters. If you go to a game you would see that. His oldest on varsity plays no more than anyone else, if anything she plays less. What cracks me up is that a couple people on this thread, including yourself, hide behind these screen names and run your mouth. Why not speak directly to him about the issues you have? I can assume why you wouldn't. He will have this team where they need to be by the end of the season. He is trying to teach a new formation to girls who are not used to playing it. If you would have seen the game versus NDA today then you could see that. The JV team hasn't lost a game yet and play that formation the way it is supposed to be played because he coached them last season and Coach Graves is running the same thing. U14 Kings Girls (WieKings) have a great chance of advancing. Been on a little skid of late but Brian will have them back on track for this weekend. Great team with some really good talent.

Wondering peoples opinions on who the next girls soccer coach at Highlands will be. This team is loaded with talent for the next several years so someone is going to inherit a good team. Brian Wiefering?? Stephanie Graves?? Any Others??

I would go with Ruthsatz as POY of the 9th. I thought this before the State Title. McDonald had a great season but he should be able to get POY next year and Hatton had some injury problems with his back that slowed him down. Ruthsatz just does so much on the court. I am not saying he is a better player but I would take Ruthsatz on my team over any player in the 9th this year.

Birds JV split with lexcath. Lost first game 7-5. Won 2nd 4-2.

I was at that game at the start of the season and thought this could be a really good team and then they hit a rough patch but sure did turn it around. They ran out of gas in that game and Ruthsatz took over. Hope they both represent NKY well!

It was written here a couple of weeks ago that Russell was at the helm of a sinking ship....well crow has been served. This may be one of the best turnarounds I have seen out of a team in a long time. They were written off a few weeks ago and then run the gauntlet. Russell deserves a lot of credit. Not many coaches can beat Carr and Code, two of the best coaches in NKY and then run off 3 for the Regional Championship. This team really stepped it up with leadership from every position and every player. Can say I am proud of my alma mater, these group of men and proud of Coach Russell the best coach I ever had when I was a kid. Good luck down state!

Ohio Elite Showcase was this past weekend. Pretty sure Kings Hammer represented well with undefeated weekends by their U15, U16, and U17 Red Teams. Also heard that Coach Hitch with Campbell County has resigned due to a new addition to the family.
