  3. I can honestly admit I was tempted to search out greener pasture. But ultimatley, I decided that Doss was the place for me to stay. We have made huge advancements and closed the gap here to make us competitive on the 5A level. 2016 allowed us to see the progress knowing we have so many kids in the program now. The two 5A games we lost were both teams in the Semi finals (S Oldham and Fern Creek). 2017 will be the first season in which a complete roster of program kids exist. We have 20 or more kids in each class returning. JCPS, even with some of its issues is still a good place to coach if you make the most of it. My administration has been good to me here. We have new uniforms, the equipment we need and our practice is awesome. Our game field is being completely regraded and sprigged as well. Not a bad spot at all.
  4. Doss will not be the worst team on their schedule. Male may win, but it is good for a Doss team that is trying to be competitive in 5A.

  6. ShawnKel Knight-Goff 6'4" 215 lb Rush End. Offers from UL, UK, UC, ND
  7. Fern Creek by 14. Cant sleep on District 4 or it may be a Tiger/Dragon Regional final
  8. Pretty sure he is not a Birds fan. Lol. Matter a fact, i know he is a Doss fan
  9. I have read most of this thread and I am suprised by what I read. As a coach, I can say that as leaders of these young men, we get to watch these young men grow up in front of our eyes, learn to be a part of a team, struggle together and enjoy the game of football for the few short years we get to be with them. We all have different pressures, whether it is winning 10 games, as it seems for HHS or wondering where the next meal is for some of my players. Regardless of what we all think or say or do, there continues to be some pressure. Our kids thought that playing against HHS was an honor and they felt even more privileged to win a game against such a storied program. I can also tell you that HHS kids were amazingly polite, classy and great sportsman. Our kids at Doss have not stopped talking about how "awesome " Highlands was. What we all need to realize is that in this case, at 3-8, HHS football made an impression on the Doss program that has only won 13 playoff games and it wasnt even about who won or lost. If i am a parent, coach or player, heck even a fan, I would be so proud to be a part of the Highlands tradition. As much as the win meant to Doss, the impression the HHS program left on our kids was priceless.
  10. We think it is awesome being the underdog. Cov Cath may beat us, but they will have a fight on their hands. The Doss kids are much more physical than you may think. Of course they are athletic, but if you ask some of the teams they have played they would confirm. Cov Cath is very good and we are honored to even have the chance to play against such a good team. The game may be closer than you think however. Best of luck Friday night.
  11. The field is rough, so is the game. So... i think it will work out just fine. Not a big budget here, we do our best.
  12. Game of the Week | Facing Highlands ‘a big deal’ for Doss | | USA Today High School Sports
  13. Those are the WRs and QB. They are all 6'-6"4, except the QB. He is small. Not sure about the 300lb defensive players though.
  14. There is plenty of parking and easy in and out. The stands are similar to every Jefferson County school. It will hold around 3000 people between both sides. The concession stand is typical Friday night selections. The atmosphere will be great for high school football. Should be a fun night
  15. 7 - Doss 5 - Moore 3 - N Hardin 2 - Male 1 - KCD Tie Breaker - Doss
  16. Doss has thrown for 592 yards in last 3 games. They may have that figured out. This will be a great game and could come down to who has the ball last.
