Gallatin County's basketball coach resigns
I can confirm FBD's comment as I work with a parent of a Gallatin Co player. While at work yesterday, he got text messages from his daughter and his wife telling him about it. The girls were told the news yesterday at school. I will also add, that as of this mornings update from him, it sounds like there are a few very good options being explored. Hopefully one of those will work out for the better. I wish the best to those young ladies, especially the Seniors.

8th Region Cats Pause
Fair enough. And I did think about that when I picked a "starting five" off the list. A few thoughts in response... 1. There is still 5 other players on the list that can come off the bench anytime for defensive reasons if my mismatch attempts backfired. 2. Offensively, the 5 I listed would be very good, I think there defense would be good enough. In fact, better than one might think. 3. As far a your thought if they could stop anyone, I only mentioned the 9th and 10th and I think we'd be just fine. :lol2: So, what line up would you use out of the CP list that you think would be more competitive defensively, without dropping offensively?

Amori Gulley of Holmes Verbally Commits
Congratulations! Wishing her a great senior season and a tremendous college career! Just guessing but I would assume that it would be one of these three since they are the only D2 schools I can find in Virginia... Virginia State University Virginia Union University University of Virginia's College at Wise Do any of those ring a bell?

8th Region Cats Pause
Although ones personal preference or "bias" would cause them to possibly add/trade a couple players on or off this list, I still have to admit, its a pretty doggone good list. It got me thinking about the neighboring 9th and 10 regions, their Cat's Pause threads and the players on their list. For the sake of fun and discussion, I'm gonna throw this out there. Here goes... The 8th region Cat's Pause team would defeat both the 9th and 10th CP's teams. (Separately of course) Here would be my starters by position for the 8th, with the other 5 coming off the bench. 1 - Ally Niece 2 - Kaci Currens 3 - Hailey Ison 4 - Justus Martin 5 - Shelbe Black How fun would that team be? They would have the best point guard between the 3 regions, we would be deeper and stronger in the post, and we would be an absolute mismatch nightmare between Niece, Ison, Martin and Black. Niece and Ison as guards can dominate posting in the paint and likewise, our post players have the ability to play on the permiter with great effectiveness. And btw, between Currens, Kennedy, Clifford, Ison, Neice, Black, we would shoot the lights out from 3 land stretching the defense big time. Finally our bench would be very balanced almost giving them the ability to platoon and still keep every position. I thought I would get some 9th/10th fans stirred up a little. Is there anyone else that's with me? Maybe you would change the starting line up a little? And what region between the 9th and 10 CP's list would match up the best with the balance and versatility of the 8th?

I talked to one current and one former 8th region coach this week. Both spoke well of Mr Herndon and thought he did a good job getting info from the coaches.

I'll agree on the possibility. It is likely if Harmeyer was still at Grant, she would have been listed. Who knows. Please understand I am not saying that out of meanness. I am only saying it supporting that she is that good of a talent to be listed. As FBD mentioned, for some reason, it is very, very hard for more than two players to be listed from the same school on any regional player ranking or voting.

I understand that a top ten list gets crowded, but I thought I would mention some other players that my "northern part off the region" bias thought should be listed. Rachel Montgomery, Williamstown Morgan Simpson, Walton-Verona Autumn Bowen, Gallatin County

Top 5? Your a tough customer. :lol2: I would let you get away with top 3...maybe.

9th Region Cats Pause
Best shooter, very good defensively with her length, great ball handler, and has added the ability to score attacking the rim making her more than one dimensional from the perimeter. I'll keep her 1st.

9th Region Cats Pause
My guess is Kaela Saner would be on this list had she played in the 9th previously. I like the other suggestions, especially Hendricks. I would love to add Taylor Gambrel also, but I understand these things get crowded quickly.

9th Region Cats Pause
It certainly narrows or removes any space between them. And I'm with you, while the preseason rank is fun, the post season rank is what matters.

9th Region Cats Pause
One thing I noticed is all four of the 33rd district teams in this top ten. Ryle, Cooper Boone, Conner. It appears that district will continue to be brutal.
