  1. Is it necessary? Probably, if you want to be viewed as party insider and have future elected aspirations. Need to rub elbows with decision makers.
  2. Local guy Knipper, challenging Grimes, speech was awkward. Sacrificial lamb?
  3. Got an email last week that said they should be mailed today.
  4. The KY polls have been basically useless over the last few election cycles. Dog fight to the end.
  5. Gotta agree. Fancy Farm has to be one of the most unique political events in the entire country. Rep or Dem, it is highly entertaining.
  6. Hit up The Incline yesterday. Famed burger was good. Shrimp/pasta dish was bland. Short Rib Poutine was too salty. Service was sub par. Being high up is nice, but view of west end industrial complexes and distant view of city not so much. Decent atmospehere. Not too pricey. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
  7. Picked up Bluegrass Conspiracy. Just a fascinating story.
  8. A lot of retail outlets are carrying some unmarked singles manufactured by Ashton. All types of sizes, selling for $3-$4 a stick. Have loaded up as they are a wonderful smoke. Tried to couple with Old Forrester. Wasn't feeling the OF.
  9. Continuing to mandate to employers is bad for business, bad for the economy and ultimately bad for the workers. Mandated healthcare, mandated minimum salary wage, mandated leave with pay. The price of everything goes up. Or companies decide they will have to let some people go. Or they cut back on their 401(k) match. Or no bonuses. The little guy decides he's going to fold up shop. He can't compete with big business. The little margins he had disappear by all the mandates. So, now you have no choice who to buy from. The rich actually get richer through these mandates as they are the only ones who can afford to keep up with the mandates. As for choice where you work, I am in agreement. You choose and agree, for the most part to accept terms and conditions of employment. One local bank is notorious for being a "sweatshop". Yet people continue to choose to work there because of the benefits and opportunities of working there...Or you take a job and come to find out it involved more travel, more weekends, more hours. I have seen people leave and come back quickly because of these items. Again to mandate is bad. You want see our economy grow and more jobs available, this is not the way it's going to happen. Careful what you wish for...Save me Mr President!
  10. You are using the term revenue liberally. When you spend more than you take in, just tax more. This is the Enron theory, double down until you get the outcome you desire. Except you never get the desired result. Yet, you keep on taxing. Welcome to Fantasy Island.
  11. Picked up some My Father and Flor de Antilles. Looking forward to trying them.

    Pizza

Nothing like grabbing a drink at Edgewood Tavern, enjoying a stogie, waiting for Noce's to deliver my pie...Deweys is no longer in the equation with Noce's around. Only drawback is little dining in.
  13. Paid leave in theory is a great idea. To mandate it is a terrible idea. Again, the only ones who will be able to afford to offer these benefits are the big box companies that liberals love to rail against. It will put the little guys out of business. Then you can complain when WalMart is your only option to shop. Let me know how that works out.
  14. Grew up in another state, 1000 miles away. Moved to my neighborhood and live two doors down from a guy I played hoops against when we were 12. He only lived in town for 2-3 years. Odd I remembered him.
  15. All these other nations are teetering financially. Britain would love to be out of the EEC if they could have a do over. China is a house of cards. The Germany union is going swimmingly. Let's talk Greece. How about Russia? Your solution is always to take from corporations. The less thy have to spend, the less they spend. It's that simple. Your solutions in California and NY drive jobs to Texas, Florida and the south. These are employer friendly states with good economies. People are moving there by choice. CT lost UBS to NY state. When does that happen then anyone loses jobs to NY? Now, GE, Aetna and Travelers are threatening to pull out of the state because rather than balance a budget, the gov't thinks they can tax corporations without repercussions. But ok. Paid family leave only benefits big corporations who can afford to pay these leaves, much like mandating health care and minimum wage, you simpletons will run the little guy out of business because big business is the only one who can keep up. And BTW, a lot of the big companies do offer the paid leave and they do it by choice to attract the type of worker they want. Supply and demand. It rally does work. Peace.
  16. You can have a 6'6 center who dominates in the paint and is a great high school player who won't sniff D-1. It doesn't change the fact they dominated high school.
  17. This says more about the Republicans lack of ability to message properly and the Dems ability to control the message and continue to promote failed policies.
  18. Gist I've seen is father thought is was a vigil for both victims. He left, came back and said some peaceful words with the cops and left again.
  19. From what I am hearing, I would vote no. Essentially, the bill ties our future on multiple fronts (economic, environmental, immigration, etc) to how other countries dictate. Why give up our sovereignty?..Sid note, it was related to the EEC bill. While it may seem silly, England had to ban fox hunting, part of their culture and history, because of the items in the treaty. When you don't know what is in the bill, why vote for it? Finally, if the jackwagon is for it, I am against it.
  20. We are talking high school, apples and oranges. Brock may have been the better high school player, what the college coaches saw is not valid to the argument of who had a better HS career.
  21. To be clear, we are talking Buffalo Wild Wings which has good meat on the bone, both of the garlics are good. BW3's wings lack meat but has better sauces. IMO.
