  1. Dixie was in the field, so most of the team was not in the dugout. However, there were still a few players in the dugout who were not currently in the game.
  2. Forgot to mention the Dixie coach, while walking off the field in protest, threw a baseball from around the pitcher's mound into the Dixie dugout quite hard.
  3. Conner beat Dixie last night 12-5. Conner scored 8 runs in the top of the 1st. Dixie played very sloppy with several errors. On a side note, the Dixie coach pulled his team off the field in the top of the 6th inning. There was a play at the plate and the Conner player slid hard into home in what appeared to be a hard, but legal slide. He cleated the catcher and the Dixie coach went crazy and pulled his team off the field in protest. In the first Dixie-Conner meeting this same coach was ejected for arguing a call.
  4. Good game that went back and forth. Fogle hit a HR for Conner.
  5. Yes, Zack Nelson was ejected for not sliding during a play at the plate. There wasn't a whole lot of contact with the catcher and it wasn't anything malicious, but rules are rules.
  6. Ugly game for Conner, too. I believe they had 4 runners picked off (not caught stealing). Three runners were picked off at first base, and one runner was picked off at second base.
  7. Conner will be solid with the return of Padgett, Hemmerich, and Barker, assuming they can find someone to bring the ball up the floor.
  8. The player that you mentioned is Kyle Koors. He's the younger brother of Bryan Koors who is a senior and plays for the varsity team. I believe he has Down Syndrome. He came into the game with less than a minute to go and buried a 3 point shot from 25 feet. Pretty neat to watch as not only the Conner crowd erupted but the Highlands crowd stood and cheered, too.
  9. We can repeat it if we're careful. I've been told by several credible sources (ie: Conner players who were on the court) that the official told #35, and I'm paraphrasing here, "That's BS. That's BS. Don't ever f@#king do that again. Not during my game". These were his comments as a result after #35 tried to "get in the head" of the St. Henry freethrow shooter by walking across the lane to trade spots with another Conner player right before the FT was attempted. For the record, I was at the game. And the foul with .4 seconds left was highly questionable to say the least. IF, again, IF, it was a foul, then the referee on the opposite side of the court should have made the call (which he didn't). There's no way the ref who did blow his whistle could have seen it from his angle. Not sure I'm willing to go as far as to say there was an unfair bias, rather chalk it up to incompetency.
  10. Or St. Henry! ? Their old gym still used the double over and back line, too.
  11. I would say Cov Cath based on the teams I have seen and what I have heard from others. Dixie is also pretty good.
  12. Tate was held to just 3 points. If Conner can take care of the basketball they are going to continue to improve and be very tough come District time. Love the physical play of Barker right now. Not lighting up the scoreboard but doing a fantastic job of shutting down the opposing team's "go to" guy.
  13. Agree, Conner definitely has other problems that need to be addressed. The first of which is taking care of the basketball. However, I don't see how you can condone repeated meltdowns that hurt your team when it's something that can be controlled, especially by a senior. Here's hoping that Carter can continue to play physical and intense and be a senior leader as he did vs CCH, and to have some discipline when it comes to drawing the T's. Surely, we can agree on that!
  14. This is actually the second time that Byrns has drawn a technical foul for pushing someone after the whistle. I'm curious if your feelings would change if one of these times it costs Conner the basketball game? Again, I'm all for intensity and toughness, but I think there are better ways to display it than taking cheap shots during a dead ball.
  15. Clyde I'm not sure that is the kind of "fire" Conner needs. Shoving another player in the chest after the whistle doesn't represent fire or toughness. In fact, it's dumb and selfish, especially when it results in a T in a game in which the outcome was still undecided. I'd prefer to see him go after rebounds, box out, be physical on defense and be a vocal leader. As a senior, that's the kind of "fire" this young team needs. I do agree that it was great to see Byrns finally have some offensive success. If he continues to gain confidence and shoot the ball well it will really help improve this Conner team.
  16. Glad to hear DB is going to be OK and that his inqury wasn't too serious. Any idea who may have to take snaps for Conner this week vs Ryle? I know it's never a good time to get hurt, but at least this will not be a District game for Conner if DB isn't able to go this Friday.
  17. It appeared Fogle played more out of the backfield for this game, rather than lining up in the slot. Good things tend to happen when you get the ball in the hands of your best player! Kudos to the Conner coaching staff for making this adjustment!
  18. The Conner "O" is starting to show signs that it's beginning to click. Dixie hasn't shown that it can stop anybody at this point, and the Conner "D" has held its own despite being a concern at the beginning of the season. I like Conner to win. I don't think it will be a blow out but I think they will be in control all evening. Things just don't seem "right" at Dixie right now.
  19. Conner moves to 2-0 with an impressive victory in Hebron.
  20. Conner pretty much was in control the entire game. Brady Padgett played QB for Conner and played very well. Don't have official stats--but I'd say he rushed for about 100 yards (including a TD) and threw for about 150 yards (including a TD). Andrew Way also threw a TD for Conner on a half back pass. Brian Loney also played well for Conner catching several balls (including a 40 yard TD). Conner defense played well. Boone had a big running back (not sure of his name) that ran very hard and well all afternoon. I'd say he had about 30 carries. Conner seemed to rise up and make a big stop on 3rd and 4th downs anytime Boone seemed like they were gaining momentum and driving. Boone's TD came with about 5 minutes in the game when Conner subbed in their second team.
  21. I think Boone wins this one. I think the difference will be the game experience Boone received by playing their first game last week (this will be Conner's first game). Conner is still young and inexperienced and I think they will improve all season long, but believe they will make some mistakes in this one that will hurt them.
  22. Correct, they will be sophmores. The thread sort of transitioned from the top freshman to the top young players in the area, so I thought those two were worth mentioning.
  23. I believe Conner lost 7 seniors from last year's team, so they will be young. I'd assume Drew Barker and Samuel Hemmerich will see a ton of minutes and are two of the top sophs in NKy.
  24. I thought Joker Phillips hit it right on the head when he explained how he approaches Twitter with his UK team at the SEC Media Day. Joker said he tells all his players that for every tweet they send out that you might as well start every one of them with the salutation, "Dear General Manager", referring to the NFL GMs. I thought that was a great line and drives home the point that every tweet is a direct reflection on you and fair game for anyone to criticize, judge, or interpret. His other point was that everything you send can be viewed by not only friends, but future employers, rivals, etc. Social media is here to stay. Bottom line-- be smart!!
