  1. I would say that there's more than two legitimate threats, but that's my opinion. I think the two you're likely referring to are better than the others, but I would say they have more than two threats. Micah Foster can also pass the football. They haven't attempted a lot of passes, but he's shown he can throw it pretty well on some plays throughout the season so far.
  2. They weren't compared to Sayre's team, strength of schedule was compared, which MANY make a strong emphasis on. I said Sayre didn't play a strong strength of schedule the year they won state.
  3. For those traveling from Frankfort or other places further, I would suggest getting there a little earlier since Dayton's homecoming is happening. There may be more there for that.
  4. As of now, I think the top three are in their own category and the rest are separated pretty far. This could change though over the season.
  5. I totally agree with you on the black color where you mentioned. It brings out things with it to me more too.
  6. Regardless of what happens with Dayton the rest of this season, the fact that this thread and conversation is happening says how far they have come along compared to where they were at.
  7. I can speak more to this, especially about Dayton. I can get what some might be thinking in terms of strength of schedule and other things, because several think with that mindset now. To that point, Dayton is a 1A school and they have been between the middle and lower end of it in terms of rankings. The last two seasons they won four or five games and may have been one of the worse teams two seasons ago. They have gotten better since that point by getting more experienced and gaining some more players, whom have been good. So, strength of schedule with them means nothing to me based on their last couple seasons. A couple seasons ago, Sayre had a very good team that didn't play the best schedule, even playing Dayton that season. They went on to win state and several didn't think they would. Point being, strength of schedule isn't always everything. To the point about Newport Central Catholic, Dayton has not had a team that was better than them and more obviously known to be better since the later part of the 90's. It's been quite a while, but things can change from time to time. I can say that I haven't watched NCC play yet this season, so I wouldn't be comfortable saying who would win right now. I do believe that Dayton and NCC will be a different game than what it's been for a good while now this season. With saying all of what I have, my thought process is that it's one game at a time, regardless of how good or bad an opponent might appear. It should be this way with all teams in my opinion, but that can be easier said than done when it wants to be.
  8. They have been good to this point.
  9. One week/game at a time. I do believe this is Coach Herbst's best team he's had and that this team is better than any team post Ridder.
  10. I'm not ready to say equal or better than 1996, but I'd say better than 1993. This team has plenty of athletes and they play physically on both sides of the ball.
  11. Nice first half from the Bengals. The defense is definitely better and Burrow has looked good to this point. The OL has impressed me too.
  12. Good start to the game for the Bengals, WHO-DEY!
  13. I think Lloyd wins. This could be interesting but I think Lloyd will be better as the game gets later into it.
  14. They are looking good to this point. They are clearly in the top five in my opinion, if not better.
  15. I'm thinking similarly. I believe that the Colonels will win but I think it will be a better game. Good luck to both teams.
  16. It's very early in the season, but Oregon losing to Oregon State will stay in the minds of the committee for a good while, if not the rest of the season. Even with it, I'd say Oregon's ranking was generous.
  17. Western Hills comes to Greendevil Stadium to face Dayton at 7:30 pm Friday night. Dayton is 4-0 and if I saw correctly, I don't believe that Western Hills has won a game yet. Last season, Western Hills beat Dayton in a close game that was played in Frankfort. I don't know anything about Western Hills, but know that Dayton has a good variety of play makers offensively and they are looking better defensively than they have over the past few seasons. Thoughts about this game from others?
  18. Congratulations to Pulaski County, glad for them that they won.
  19. Congratulations to Highlands, big and impressive win last night.
  20. Lopez is a good running back too and runs the ball on a limited basis compared to other running backs. He is also very solid on defense. Lopez is one of not many seniors on the team.
  21. A good game by Dayton overall. They made defense adjustments and looked better overall in the second half. One thing I would like to see more of is Micah Foster passing the football. He made a few really nice passes tonight and a couple in other games. Their bread and butter is the running game and its balance but Foster can definitely pass it and he's a dual threat with good capabilities of running too.
  22. Dayton takes a knee, game is over. Final score: Dayton 48 Ludlow 26.
  23. Things getting choppier towards the end.
  24. Dayton ball on the Ludlow 9, 2nd and 9.
