  1. Seriously Baba Booey? Please tell me you were kidding by starting a thread like this, if not you really need to start doing better and more productive things with your life.
  2. Yet another reason for a player friendly coach or style of play.
  3. If that truly is the case and there are no football players or transfering kids that would not make an impact on this years basketball team then that is great news for the Highlands Basketball program and I stand corrected. The football vs basketball discussion at Highlands can at least go away for a couple of years. I am big fan of what Coach Baioni has done with the baseball program at Highlands, hence my request to get a former Highlands Basketball player to take over the program to hopefully bring some of the same type of interest back to basketball. I wonder what kind of energy or excitement Flynn brings to his summer open gym sessions or does he give the same scollding look when they dont run the offense to his liking on a blistering hot summer morning in the gym. And yes I would hope that those schools and communites that consider themselves competitve in athletics in a mid/large market would take a look at any coach that cannot compete on an annual basis with any team given team in their region.
  4. Can someone please tell me if the rumor I heard last night about next year being Flynn’s last year coaching due to his retirement from his “day job” is true or not? Before last night I would see the “footballers that have bball talent” around town and beg them to play or at least give the game a second chance and go out for the team again this year, well after what I saw last night I don’t blame them for not playing nor do I blame the “basketball only” kid from transferring. I do however have an all new respect for those kids who do decided to play under this current coach, either they have a tremendous love of the game or their parents threatened that they must push carts @ Kroger’s if they’re not playing a winter sport. IMO this program needs a shot in the arm quick!! What it needs is a former Highlands BBALL player that had some success at Highlands (I’m fairly new around the basketball program to know if there is anyone out there that might fit those requirements) How about even giving a younger guy a chance? I can tell you if I’m a kid on the fence about playing Highlands Bball or not and I see the way Flynn coaches during the game and can only imagine the countless hours spent passing the ball like “Hoosiers” during practice I wouldn’t be knocking over doors to play either. Get a young coach, put some excitement back in the program and see what happens. Or maybe the conspiracy theorists are right by saying that Mueller secretly likes it this way. Guess this probably should have been under the “What’s WRONG with Highlands Basketball” thread, sorry. Why I do agree somewhat with what “tommyb” had to say in that thread about other kids playing year around making the difference I’m not completely sold on that, there is enough talent in 41075 to at least operate a program that doesn’t get blown out by 40 at home.
  5. Couldn't agree with you more, if you know you’re out matched the only way you have a chance to win is to take more shots. Look at the NFL these days, the new stat of the year is “how many offensive snaps a team takes in a game” obviously more is good. I played with most of this current Highlands team over the summer and I can tell you some of them have decent shots, however watching them play last night they looked like they were scared to death to even look at the basket. At least one time the Cov Cath defender almost jokingly gave the Highlands player (not Witte or Houliston) the open baseline and the Highlands player hesitated and threw the ball away trying to kick it back out. Flynn – Let your team shoot, play defense, rotate guys in if they’re tired and see what happens, at least that way the boys will look like they’re at least enjoying themselves playing the game they love.
  6. First time seeing the Birds on the hard court this year. Here are some quick thoughts for what its worth. Witte and Houliston are solid basketball players, I love the effort that they gave tonight even in a losing cause. Why did Seth Hope quit bball? He sure would be nice to see with this group. Flynn please lose the offensive sets and move to a dribble drive offense. Your kids look very unconfident when they have the ball outside of Witte and Houliston so you may consider going to a run and gun style where there are no bad shots.
  7. Awesome place to watch a State Final football game IMO, stadium size was perfect, parking was easy and the sound system sounded great. I for one actually like the fact that parents/friends are not allowed on the field after the game, it gives the players who have put in so much time and effort together a chance to celebrate amongst themselves and coming over to the winning side's crowd after the game is kinda cool.
  8. Houliston @ QB is fun to watch, especially when scrambling and looking to hit his receivers down field at that point you can see his basketball skills translating to the football field. I look forward to a big year from him next year.
  9. Thanks for the update, I wasn't able to see much of the Varsity game so I wasn't sure if it was injury related.
  10. Didn't see #98 Feggins (WR) for HHS in this game. Anybody know why?
  11. We can agree to disagree on this issue. I would rather do as Cov Cath does and play and develop my sophomores and a few juniors who don't see varsity minutes. If you're a senior at this point in your career do you really want to play JV just to get "action" especially if people don't put much stock in the game like 'mcpapa' is saying.
  12. Only 2 seniors that I know of played. Where did you get the number 10 from??? Were you at the game and counted differently? If not I'm not sure why you would throw out numbers like that without knowing facts. With that said, if I'm wrong and 10 seniors did in fact dress and play significant minutes I would have a problem with that.
  13. It appeared Highlands decide to manage the clock in the second half after going ahead at the end of the second quarter. It was a steady dose of Daughrtey(RB) and Kreiger(QB) both running the ball at least 15 times apiece in the second half that secured the victory. Key 1st downs and some interceptions proved to be the deciding factor in this game. With approx. 6:00 minutes in the second quarter Kreiger ran hard to set up and then score the final TD which proved to be the game winner. Dixie's showed how dangerous a consistent short passing game could be, but ended up getting picked off when trying to stretch the field. I would love to see Highlands open up the playbook and execute some pass completions on short pass routes. I saw Hieble block the entire Dixie line on his own one play! All in all, it was good football. Highlands had at least 3 interceptions on Defense and a very strong running game on offense when they needed it.
  14. Heard Jalen Hayes might suit up for this one, if so that could be the difference for the birds.
  15. As a Highlands fan I would think you would want the Colonels to show up for the 9/21 showdown undefeated.
  16. Yeah this post makes sense. Sure just turn off all the PA annoucers for all sporting events cuz nobody listens to them. Please don't tell that to Jac Collinsworth who took the time to call the Highlands Freshman game Thursday night against Lex Cath. Bottom line without getting into an arguement over this, the PA system or operators at DCM needs to be fixed. So fans can hear when announcing the captains (could be a lineman), TD or tackle.
  17. Well that's a shame for the parents, grandparents and kids who want to actually hear their son/friends name called.
  18. Can we at least please turn up the volume so the "scoring" song is played throughout the stadium since we can't have the cannon. And put Nieporte in the booth.
  19. Posting on the Fort Thomas School website. Fort Thomas Independent Schools
  20. Yes, Conner Kreeger played QB for the green team last year, quick kid, hard worker off the field. Baby Birds play @ Trinity next Saturday.
