  1. If Elliott thinks he's gonna run over these Birds, he's going to be disappointed friday night. For all the confidence you have in predicting a win next friday against the Birds, you sure have alot of "if's" in your post. If "if's and but's" were candy and nuts, everday would be Christmas. Tougher game than Manual agreed, but this year's Birds are out to prove all doubters and they have a team with little to no "if's and buts".
  2. They should have a season pass window for folks that want to pony up 25 and walk right up to the gate the rest of the regular season
  3. Give them a chance. They are ahead of where they were this time last year.
  4. It's a good thing they were up by a ton or the stands would've cleared for that one. I think he knew he messed that one up....
  5. Yes, but I think the ref's knew they made some horrible calls. Hopefully they get better with time as well...
  6. That's Highlands....they're like a box of chocolates. Don't try and figure them out.
  7. The only team that will stop this offense is Highlands themselves. No nerves in this game just business as usual. Towles is a freak of nature. Sully is a beast...just ask Manual's QB....this team is the real deal. 28 1st half points....stop the pass, they kill you with the run. 5a defenses have no chance.....
  8. I see that Football 101 class has done you some good. Maybe I should've taken it too. Seriously though, this is a great analysis as well as your previous post.
  9. People may laugh but I remember last year that when JC chose to throw, they were effective against the Birds. I'd like to see the stats on that game. According to what Matney said, they are working on a passing game. An effective balance would spell trouble for the Birds. Just my opinion.
  10. Why do you think this year is any different than the past two year's against JC? JC kept it close in both 08' and 09'.....within 3 as a matter fact with the so called "national title" team.
  11. The above arguments are repeated over and over on just about every thread involving Highlands....Kinda feels like Groundhog Day.
  12. Very good point. If Highlands only managed 19 against this squad with AC and alot of the Manual D returning, how in the world are we expecting to score 40+ against these guys? And what if the Birds score 40+? Oh, let the comparisons begin......
  13. An article from the Courier Journal's Jason Frakes on Manual 2010: The Manual High School football team has a new coach and a new look this season. Oliver Lucas, the head coach at Bryan Station the past four years, has replaced Joe Nichols as the Crimsons' head coach. Lucas has installed a West Coast offense that he hopes will take advantage of Manual's depth at the skill positions. “You want to get the ball in your playmakers’ hands and let them work," Lucas said. "You may hand it to them or throw it to them, but let them work.” Manual finished 5-7 last year and once again will face a brutal schedule in 2010, including games against St. Xavier, Male, Highlands, Trinity and Cincinnati Colerain. A brief look at the Crimsons: * Offense (8 starters back): Senior Ian Wooldridge and junior Luis Thompson are expected to split the quarterbacking duties and will have several weapons with which to work. Junior DarMontre Warr led Manual in rushing last season and will share carries with senior Marcus Helm and junior Percy Minor. Juniors Quintez Sutton and Darnell Gardner lead the receiving corps. All five starters return on the offensive line, led by all-district picks Josh Stearns, Nate Allen and Tim Haag. The offense may sputter early as players pick up the intricacies of the West Coast offense. But if it starts to click, this offense could be potent. * Defense (5 starters back): Senior strong safety Trent Haffler and junior defensive end Thomas Chapman return to lead a defense that allowed 27 or more points in eight games last year. Chapman (6-4, 286) is a star in the making and is someone opponents "should never lose track of," Lucas said. Senior Daquane Drain saw action on offense last year but has been moved exclusively to defense, where he will play free safety. Junior Jacob Ulinski will play middle linebacker. * Outlook: The schedule may be the toughest in the state, so Manual's record may not be all impressive at the end of the regular season. But it should prepare the Crimsons for the playoffs. Manual should be able to put up points with its impressive depth at the skill positions. Part of the reason Nichols was fired was his 0-13 record against St. Xavier, and the administration expects this program to compete with St. X and Trinity and be among the elite programs in Class 6-A. The talent appears to be there to make that happen. * Season opener: Aug. 20 at Highlands. Email this • Share on Facebook
  14. Just got off the phone with the folks at Insight and they said the TBNK games are available on the cable access channels throughout Campbell Co. with the lone exception of Ft. Thomas, Ky., so the game at Dixie this year will not be available to those Bluebird fans living in Ft. Thomas. The nice lady that I talked to encouraged anyone to call them with questions and encouraged us to voice our concern to the appropriate individuals within our community.
  15. Haven't had any luck contacting anyone at 859 781 3495 concerning the broadcasting of TBNK games of the week on Campbell Co. access channels.....Has NKY Sports confirmed their broadcast on cable access for this weeks game between Ryle and CC?
  16. But do the kids really understand this? It's obvious that the comparison's to last year's team are a sore subject and it's unfortunate for these talented kids to even sense that they're team is being compared to last year's team, but inevitably all of us fans look at the team before as a barometer for measuring strengths and weaknesses. To me, there are no weaknesses in this team. Every year, Bluebird fans have this nervous anticipation that the bottom is going to fall out. I've seen this just in the past few years with the QB position starting with Guidugli and the comparisons to Cecil saying Guidugli didn't have the speed or running skills. He proved us wrong in all facets of his game. Then came Bardo and the concerns after the first couple games of him overshooting receivers. People immediately started comparing him to Guidugli and his memorable State performance. Now this team will again have to suffer through the next couple weeks in the shadow of last year's team until they start making new memories for the fans. All will quiet down and we'll all be able to sleep better at night knowing that this team is the real deal and will more than likely bring home another 5a State title. Then the process will again repeat itself.
  17. I will pray for him, his family, his friends and all those who've been affected by this accident and hope that it serves a reminder of the importance of family and community during times like this.
  18. Did TBNK do any high school football team preview segments this year? Any similar type shows like Countdown to Kickoff or post game highlight shows?
  19. Nice artice in today's paper about Lorenzen and Towles. Jared sounds like a super guy. I'm sure the kids appreciate him. Ft. Thomas is very fortunate that former players give back to the community. Has Chris Collinsworth offered any help to the team over the past few years and what about Marty Moore?
  20. It seems as if this past weeks scrimmage only added to the big question mark over Highlands Defense. I think many Bluebird faithful can't wait to see what Weinrich does this coming week. I realize that some starters were out friday night, but 40+ is 40+. Personally, I don't see Manual scoring more than 21 in this week's opener. I talked previously about Highlands needing a "loss" per se and my wish came true. At least it happened before it counted. Many disagree but I think this was the best thing that could've happened to this team opening up 2010. To play a lesser talented team would have done Highlands no good. A loss was just what the Dr. ordered. I just hope the prescription was for "no refills".
