This was an amazing come back to watch. Caleb Pope was truly unstopable in the second half. He apparently broke the school rushing record. His brother Dalton Pope was also impressive at QB as just a sophomore.

Henry Clay without Vinny Miller is a different team, even if it's just a mental disadvantage. Bowling Green should win this one.

Scott County was firing on all 3 cylinders against Seneca. Special teams blocked 2 punts and ran both back for TDs. Everyone on defense was getting to the ball and making tackles. Offense was very balanced; running inside and outside, passing from the pocket and rolling out. That's hard to plan against defensively. The only missing piece is replacing a kicker that hit TBs 80% of the time.

Scott Co was up 45-0 at halftime and pulled their starters. Seneca scored on Scott Co's JV defense in the 4th quarter. It's 45-6 with less than 4:00 left in the game.

I believe most if not all the public schools in the greater Lexington area are doing it now. Not sure if KHSAA now requires it, but they should.

Congrats to Jeremy Harness. In-state banter aside, I love to see Kentucky HS football players getting national attention. Too many people think of Kentucky as just a basketball state.

True, but Lawler received the "at large" invite to the Top Prospect Development camp without having to attend any other 2011 NUC events, and NUC told Lawler that he would have been one of the top two QBs in the Top Prospect camp too. The main point being, it's good to see Kentucky players get recognized on any national scene.

Here's the real question, and there will definitely be varied opinions. Is St. X down a little or are the other programs rising to the challenge and getting better year after year?

Two more Kentucky HS players performing well in national competition. Hatcher (Trinity) received the 2013 Overall Line MVP - "Hatcher came into this event as the favorite to win the Overall Line MVP for the class of 2013. He did not disappoint by dominating the one-on-ones beating offensive lineman with a super-fast get off and good use of hands. His overall body structure makes him stand out amongst all other athletes in his age group. Hatcher has the skill set to shine at the next level as a hybrid DE/LB similar to former Texas star Brian Orakpo. D-line coach Quincy Hipps and O-Line coach Michael Rozzi had no choice but to name Hatcher the top overall lineman in the camp." Not to stray too far away from the original thread, but a really good HS QB should average 17+ yds per completion and have a 60% completion rate. That requires accuracy and throwing both long and short routes. That being said, 4A should be one of the two most competitive divisions again this year. I was told Boyle lost a lot of seniors, so it will be interesting to see if they can hold the #2 spot.

My bad...I guess Lexington gets overlooked, too. Doesn't it seem odd that not a single player from the collective Lexington area made this list? Read the selection process from the article, "The 2010 Kentucky High School All-State first and second teams, as selected by 13 media representatives from across the state". No one can objectively evaluate and rank all of the top football players in Kentucky. Jude and Quick are great athletes too, and I'm happy for the athletes that make anyone's "top" list.

The 2011 Elite 11 had a different twist, which I liked. Twenty some QB's were invited to California, and then they competed over a 5 day period for the final "Elite 11" spots. Sounds like Zeke Pike had a rough first day or two, but then really shot up in the ranks days 3,4 & 5. I would argue that the AP and coaches polls strongly favor Louisville, NKY and Lexington schools. The coaches know the players they face throughout the season and others boys that are talked about around their city or on the local news. Likewise, do the AP writers really make it out to the the more rural football programs to evaluate player? No way. Not solid processes either.

There are multiple top 10 lists for anything that has a fan base, becauase no one can truly evaluate "all the players". I don't know a lot about Jude, Hatcher or Elliott, but they are probably great players. I didn't recognize every name on the Scout lists either, but I'd be willing to bet they are all great football players, too. These lists mean something and so will the lists that include your top players.

My mistake on the "Jefferson County" players. I didn't click thru to their profiles. Northington is at Butler and Warr is at Manual.

The articles didn't state it, but looks like they are all seniors.
