Not much honestly. Most of the current and former players expressed that Gino should be the next HC (prior to the hire), or that Coombs and Walt Stewart need to stay on staff. (after the hire) The few that did tweet out positive things about Fick were seniors from this year's team, which should be expected since he was the only coach they ever had. For the most part, there's been positive reaction from current and former players to Satterfield being hired. Just ready to get to work with a new coach and staff. Sauce Gardner approved of the Satterfield hire...that's good enough for me. 😂

Sounding like Louisville DC Bryan Brown, Louisville QB Coach Pete Thomas, and UC ST Coordinator Kerry Coombs will be apart of Satterfield's staff at UC. Hoping he keeps DL Coach Walt Stewart as well. Having Coombs and Stewart both on staff will go a long way in continuing to recruit Ohio well. After watching a few videos and interviews, I still have questions but not as many as when the announcement first came out. I get people are mad about the way he left Louisville but there were also a lot of people mad with the way Fickell left as well, especially after finding out he interviewed for the Wisconsin job during the regular season and didn't tell anyone.

Satterfield will have $7.25 mil to work with for assistant coaches pool...no excuse for him not to surround himself with a high level staff. Fick only got $5.25.

The word was he would join Fick at Wisconsin if he didn't get the HC job here. No clue if that is still the plan or if he will look for a different coordinator position somewhere else. Fick took Mike Tressel with him to be his DC....then re hired DC Jim Leonard to stay at Wisconsin. I would love to see Gino stay at UC but can't see him coming back after not getting the job. And Satterfield may want to bring his own coordinators.

Not saying Fick is similar...but FWIW, his own son didn't know anything about Wisconsin until that Saturday night before the news started to leak on Sunday. Fick called Landon while he was out and let him know that the next day he would be leaving for Wisconsin....this came after interviewing 2 weeks prior while still head coach at UC and in the running for a conference championship and NY6 bid. Sucks for the players and recruits that social media is typically how they find out about this stuff. It is a little disappointing to hear Satterfield didn't tell the players in person his decision to leave.

I personally think something went sideways throughout this process, especially if the deal just came together last night, as reported. Chip Kelly and Willie Fritz were both mentioned on Saturday...a day before Cunningham told parents of players a coach would be in place. Mo Linguist and Scott Lewis were listed as favorites up until Thurs or Fri. Gino and Alex Golesh didn't get a final interview. Something just seems really off about how this all came together and the whole process. If Satterfield was the pick from the beginning, I don't know why it would have taken a full week to iron out the details. Everyone thought it was a coach of a team playing this past weekend and that's why there were limited details on the search. I hope like hell he succeeds and I'm taking an open mind approach until given a reason not to, but I definitely have questions.

Another disappointment....UC is using the $3.5 mil from Wisconsin to pay Satterfield's $3.5 mil buyout at Louisville. Just an all around head scratcher, to say the least. Hopefully things work out. If not, John Cunningham won't be around to make the replacement hire.

This has already been brought up. I believe he was also in the mix when UC hired Fick as well and looked at UC as not being "good enough" back then. Things and opinion can change over 6 years, but I'm hoping he isn't a Tuberville type hire. Next year is a transition year regardless, but he will have to put in work to keep this recruiting class and roster together. That starts with keeping Coombs and Stewart.

Is he the kid whose dad has ties to Adidas or works for Adidas? Or am I thinking of someone different? What kind of scheme does he run on both sides of the ball? Also, do you expect any assistants to follow? I would hope and think he atleast retains Kerry Coombs and DL Coach Walt Stewart from assistants who didn't leave with Fick. Possibly OL Coach Mike Cummings as well but he was a Gino hire so hard telling there.

Considering some of the other available options, UC fans aren't very happy today with this news. What areas does he recruit? Do you expect any players from Louisville to follow? Recruits?
