  1. In looking at Graysons schedule, I'd guess Barren Co is probably the best team they've beaten...They won that one 38-6...Barren played a good (5-0) Bullitt Central team to 21-7...That same BC team beat a decent Bullitt East team as well as a decent Pulaski Co and Waggoner teams...Not great teams, but, not bad teams either...I prefer to reward teams for there record and performance rather than reward teams for getting hammered by good teams... If a team went 0-10 vs the likes of BGreen, Owensboro, Ft Campbell, Highlands, Boyle Co, etc, and then lost a 1st round playoff game to a 1a team like Jenkins, would they be considered a good team just because they played a great schedule..I don't think so... If they were competitive is those games, I may rethink it and give that some consideration... If you look at the teams I ranked behind Grayson, I just haven't been that overly impressed with those...Henderson Co, 2 losses and 2 close wins against average at best opposition in Madville and Daviess Co...Greenwood, lost 2 of last 3. Lost to a FSimpson team thats average, at best and another lower class school...Graves Co, who started the year 3-0, but, has lost 2 straight to smaller classification schools and barely beat a down 2a team in Trigg...WCentral, you beat them last year and have more coming back this year than they do...Just don't see it as that big a stretch putting them in the Top 10....
  2. My point was this...Everyone is putting all the marbles on this one win to proclaim Highlands the "No Doubt" best team in the state(I did say I think they deserve to be #1, by the way). Someone like Trinity, for example, could say, we beat Manual 27-0 and you only beat them 19-8, so, for that reason, we're "No doubt" the best team in the state. I doubt anyone from Trinity would do that, just using that opponent as an example the same way you're using Cincy St X as the determining opponent. If St X wins big against Trinity this week, they could easily proclaim themselves, too, especially if they beat Manual(a common opponent) badly in a few weeks...
  3. Not disputing Graysons schedule. Not really familiar enough to know who they played or beat, just stating my reasoning for ranking them as I did and using Lone Oak as an example because the biggest knock on them was playing teams like Todd Central, Fulton Co, Webster, etc in the non-district portion of there schedule, basically, a very weak schedule and played the same up until this year where they added Green Co and Lex Catholic. So, alot of folks questioned them because of it and they ended up being for real. Possibly, Grayson is moving toward that same type of success. I would say the win over WCentral last year(albeit, they were down) is a better win than Caldwell and pretty much on the same scale as Calloway...
  4. True enough, but, most people said the same thing about Lone Oak a couple of years ago and they made it all the way to the finals getting through some good teams along the way and are now a legit 4a team...Not saying that'll happen to Grayson, especially in 6a, but, it is possible for a team to go from a bad program to a good and they seem to be heading in that direction and even though WCentral was down last year, thats still a big step in the right direction. Gotta crawl before you walk and with the majority of that team returning this year, being undefeated and putting up gaudy numbers, I felt they were as deserving as any below them, at this point. Of course that could change next week, but, to this point, they're deservant in my book. In addition, the overall talent of the big schools in the west is down..
  5. I feel the Purple Flash wins this one convincingly...The long bus ride, homefield advantage, ability to mix up the pass and run and a solid defense against the run, not to mention, they're a little upset with last weeks offensive performance and will be hungry to prove it was a fluke...Greens a nice, solid ballclub, but, imo, too many things going against them this week and not a great week to be playing Lone Oak... I see it about 48-21 Lone Oak...
  6. Theres alot of stock being put in this one game and dont get me wrong, it was a great win, but, consider St X was coming off back to back games against Trinity and St X with Elder the following week...How would Highlands have done coming off back to back weeks against those 2 and Cincy St X coming off Highlands last 2 opponents...Just sayin'
  7. I'm not saying Ft Campbell is as good as Alcoa, was just saying not to ditch a smaller school, because Alcoa is a 2a team and they handled you pretty easily. Also, Ft Campbell has several D1 players themselves, 2 or 3 on UK now. They don't dress 100, closer to 65-70, but, still a good # for a 2a team.
  8. scribe, you've got Lone Oak at 5 and agn at 7...
  9. Let's hear everyone's West Ky Top 10 for both Small and Big schools. You can rank any 1a, 2a or 3a team in the Small school rankings and any 4a, 5a or 6a team in the Big school rankings. This will be 2 seperate polls, so, when you reply, be sure to do both polls. Below, is a list of the WKy schools to select from: Small Schools - Ballard Memorial, Crittenden Co, Fulton City, Fulton Co, Mayfield, Caldwell Co, Heath, Murray, Reidland, Trigg Co, Ft Campbell, Hancock Co, Owensboro Catholic, Todd Central, Glasgow, Green Co, Metcalfe Co, Monroe Co, McLean Co, Paducah Tilghman, Union Co, Webster Co, Adair Co, Butler Co, Edmonson Co, Hart Co, Russellville. Big Schools - Calloway Co, Hopkins Central, Lone Oak, Muhlenburg Co, Allen Co-Scottsville, Franklin Simpson, Logan Co, Russell Co, Warren East, Christian Co, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Ohio Co, Owensboro, Barren Co, Bowling Green, Grayson Co, Warren Central, Apollo, Daviess Co, Graves Co, Henderson Co, Marshall Co, Greenwood. Vote between now and wednesday night 7:00 CST and I'll gather the results and post them sometime shortly thereafter. Here's mine: Small Schools 1) Ft Campbell 2) Mayfield 3) Monroe Co 4) Green Co 5) Crittenden Co 6) Murray 7) Tilghman 8) Owensboro Catholic 9) Glasgow 10) Caldwell Co Big Schools 1) Bowling Green 2) Owensboro 3) Lone Oak 4) Christian Co 5) Allen Co-Scottsville 6) Grayson Co 7) Henderson Co 8) Greenwood 9) Graves Co 10) Warren Central
  10. I'm with you on that. Hard to pick just 10 with that many teams. Alot of good teams left off.
  11. 1) Bowling Green 2) Ft Campbell 3) Owensboro 4) Lone Oak 5) Mayfield 6) Christian Co 7) Allen Co-Scotts 8) Monroe Co 9) Henderson Co 10) Crittenden Co
  12. Henry Clay - 5 Tilghman - 3 Cov Holy Cross - 3 Anderson Co - 1 Trigg Co - 1 Fern Creek - 1 Spencer Co - 1 ST X - 1 Owensboro - 1 Wayne Co - 1 TB - 35
  13. Based on the last 2 weeks, I agree, based on talent and potential, I think they're right there at least close...To be honest, not sure anyone in 2a comes within 30 on the Falcons this year, so, it's probably a moot point anyway...
  14. Possibly, I'm not real familiar with Bell Co other than I know they're a very good program always right there in the hunt, but, I wouldn't complain about Ft Campbell , because didn't Bell get taken to the woodshed at home by another premier 2a team from Tn earlier this year. I'm not saying they're as good as Alcoa, but, I do think they would represent the west in 2a, 3a or 4a this year and would be right in the hunt in 5a with BGreen, Owensboro and John Hardin. Yes Henry Clay beat Scott, but, they also lost to Lafayette this week, who earlier lost to Boone and GRC, 2 teams who Scott soundly beat. I think 12th is about right for Bell and I'm not too sure it would matter whether Highlands came to Log Mountain or played them on a neutral field or in a cow pasture, I think it would likely get ugly. No disrespect intended, just my opinion...
  15. Graves also played without Riley, arguably, the best player on there team on both sides of the ball, RB and LB... He definately could have made a difference, maybe not a 10 pt difference, but, certainly a difference, just the same...I'm glad it was a close game...I think anytime you're tested throughout the year, it does nothing but help you come playoff time... Lone Oak didn't play there best game, by any means, but, still proved they could win a slobbernocker type game with there defense and not just outscore teams...They'll be better off for it in the longrun..
  16. Thats 2 of our starting LBs, both sophs. Hopefully, not too bad...
  17. Yeah, but, it's hard to put HClay up there after tonights loss to Lafayette and other than that game, SK has been very solid...
  18. Trigg has struggled this year, but, have played a tough schedule. They're very young and in rebuilding mode, but, still dress alot of kids and have some pretty good talent. Murray is a solid 2a team, very possibly a top 5 team, talent wise...
  19. For you Warren Central fans familiar with both teams, how do the Falcons compare to Bowling Green? Could they beat the Purples or compete with them?
  20. No doubt, at this point in the season, but, I wouldn't want to play Trinity in December. They always seem to step it up a notch or 2 come playoff time.. 1) Highlands 2) St X 3) Trinity 4) Ft Campbell 5) Boyle Co 6) B.Green 7) S.Kenton 8) Owensboro 9) B.Station 10) Scott Co 11) Fern Creek 12) Bell Co 13) John Hardin 14) Henry Clay 15) Male
  21. Solid win by the Tigers. They have a very good team this year. Too bad they're in the same region with Ft Campbell..
  22. Xavier Shelton, a WR from Mayfield is putting up some incredible #s...He would have to be in the discussion at the very least...
  23. Not a surprise, but, still a solid effort by the Cardinals...They needed a game like this to get some new faces out there and get some of there starters a chance to get healthy...Several of there better players have been banged up..
  24. I'd love to see a Ft Campbell vs Alcoa, Tn matchup...Both teams are dominant 2a teams in there respective states...Boarder battle...
  25. Possibly...I'd probably put them right up there with B.Green and Boyle Co, at the very least...I just don't see anyone in 2a who'll be able to hang with them...
