  1. Ryle recieved several of the cheap shots. There were several pentalies by SK for a lot of their action and jawing.
  2. I thought that Conner Freshmen would have given them a better game.
  3. Ryle defeated SK 14-12. In the 3rd anbd 4th quarter SK got tired while Ryle looked crisp. In all of my years of watching football, I will have to say that SK 9th grade team took alot of cheap shots.
  4. Boone has a very talented team. In fact I was surprised that Ryle did that well against them. Other than the kick off returns, Boone ran 2 or 3 plays over and over and over.
  5. Heard that Ryle freshmen beat Boone County last night at Boone. The first half was all Ryle and Bone came back, but Ryle scored a couple of more times... http://www.ryleraiderfootball.org
  6. Again, I did not say that he was miserable...I was just explaining my thoughts and opinion. Just like you stated earlier "it's simply your personal and subjective assessment vs. mine vs. everyone's else.'
  7. As for Hempel, I think he is an offensive machine, however defensively he is at best--- average. Not alot of range...I am shocked that he is at 3rd. If I coached that team, he would be at first base or AH.
  8. I have seen Hoskins catch the last few games and he has improved however, to say that defense is not a major component for POY consideration dilutes the award in my mind. If defense is not a component than call the award "Offensive Player of the Year". If Hoskins just does an adequate job catching why would they not use him use as a AH and get another catcher? I do not think he is above average defensively as a catcher. He has a tendency to let balls go by and throw balls into center field and left field. As someone who lives in Kentucky, I want the POY to be well rounded. Top in offense and top in defense. He is representing PLAYER OF THE YEAR. I would not want to say,”Oh he is a machine on offense but he is just an adequate fielder or catcher etc.” POY is best of the best in all categories and a leader on the field and in the dugout. My vote would be for Lauman.
  9. Heard the Ryle head coach got tossed? Arguing about a hit batsman. From my understanding at the umpires meeting at the begining of the year they were going to not allow a batter to take first if they got hit and made no attempt to get out of the way. I have been to many games this year and they have not enforced that rule at ALL, until last night? I know that sometimes it is a judgement call...but other times it is obvious and the batter still takes his base. I do not blame the coach for arguing the call...Not calling it all year and now enforing it because it is going close to play-offs....come on. That is like a basketball referee no calling any fouls until the 4th quarter! Come on UMPS be consistant.
  10. I heard that Ryle continues to not do the little things...mental errors as well as physical errors. This is just my opinion, if Ryle is in a close game, they make the mental error and typically beat themselves. So how does that play out for the play-offs?
  11. So how does a team like Ryle get past that struggle? Where are the little things taught? Is there an assumption that when the kids reach high school that they should know how to do the "little things." What high school has a year round baseball program? One that concentrates on baseball. Ryle is one of the biggest schools in Boone County but no championships, why? What seperates a team like Lafayette from Ryle? Are they that much more taleneted that Ryle...what is the difference?
  12. Ryle has to do the little things right to get to the next level. I saw it early in the season. I did not see the games this weekend but was told that they continue to struggle with some of the "little things". Base running, hitting the cut off man, catching the ball. They definitely have the talent they just need to get over the hump.
  13. Here are my thoughts on why HOSKINS would not be POY. Offensively he is a good player; but lets remember the past POY's. Did they hit better than average...yes. Did they get pinch run for....No. I want the POY to be strong offensively and defensively. So I will give you the offensive but defensively he is not even close. I have seen him catch and he does not know how to frame or "stick a pitch". I think that Ryle pitchers lose about 12-15 strikes per game because he does not know how frame or stick a pitch. I have spoken to several umpires in the league and they say if he would stick the pitch they would call the strike. He has a tendancy to drift and fall with pitches. Not to mention I saw him "stand up" on breaking pitches. So...I ask you..should player of the year know how to do these simple catching task? POY should be as good on offense as well as defense..NEXT....
  14. The pitcher Ryle was Tyler Hill and if he had a cather that could defensively frame the ball we would bre in better shape
  15. Sorry to hear that...he was cruising right along. He had a good game against Ryle in weeks before. Good Luck to hiim
  16. Only the second non-CCH team in 18 years? That is a great accomplishment. Hopefully Ryle will keep it going.
  17. In no particular order... 1. Popham- Dixie 2. Lauman- Boone 3. Sexton- Dixie 4. Bertke- Beechwood 5. Roberts- Connor 6. Cain- NCC 7. Cottingham- Beechwood 8. Lonkard - Ryle 9. Leichty- Conner 10 C. Kelly - NCC (Hill-Ryle, Sullivan- Walton, Shumate- CCH, Hempel- Ryle, Truitt- Ryle)
  18. Walton Verona had a kid last year who's last name was Cotterell? He got hurt, anyone heard if he is ready to play?
  19. i remember Matt Watson, he had some nasty stuff and with a odd delivery he made it tough to pick the ball up. Did he play summer ball?
  20. The left hander was either Tyler O'bryan or Matt Gorbant. The b oth pitched well last year but I heard that O'Bryan was hurting by the end of the season.
  21. I heard that Andy Roges is not playing this year? Have you heard that? Also, Hensley has not pitched in a long time because of grades, have they improved? What about Tyler O'bryan? Is he healthy and Matt Gorbant? :isurrender:
  22. Who else pitched for the U16 Colonels team last year and made the U18 this year? They had several good pithcers on that team? I know that Jake Cain pithced but hurt his arm later in the season, Jackson Lauman also pitched. The other pithcer that did well was Tyler Hill, I think he is at Ryle and Jordan Liechty from Conner did well. I would definitely watch Hill, Liechty, Lauman and Cain.
  23. Drove past Ryle's baseball field last week, it looked really good. Looks like they laid some sod down and brought in extra dirt and gravel. Well manicured and looks like someone is taking care of it better in the off season. I think top 5 teams in 9th region will be. Boone Ryle Cov. Cath Dixie Newport C.C.
  24. I think the Ryle is going to be strong this year. They have got a ton of returning starters. Carney, Hemple, Lonkard and the Donavans are all returning. Plus the players from their JV last year were good. Clarkson, Truiett and Hill will all make for a solid offense and defensive rotation. Hill was their pitcher of the year on their JV team, and will fit into the rotation. I think that Hemple, Clarkson all played on the Kentucky Colonels U16 team. I heard that Travis Elliott is not playing baseball anymore.
