  1. I'm not trying to cast stones at all. I struggle to feel sympathy sometimes when it seems like all of the evidence at hand is pointing at someone being absolutely guilty. But still, in order for the system to work, you have to still try to respect how it was designed to work. It's taken me a long while to try to embrace that a little more. We have to try and look at people as being innocent in the eyes of the law until they are proven not to be, and that even includes while they are in custody and facing charges. Personally, I think seeing the results of The Innocence Project has opened my eyes to the need to maintain open-mindedness to that even moreso.
  2. Playing devil's advocate, somewhat......folks are still innocent until proven guilty in the United States, right? So Richard Allen is still innocent, in the eyes of the law. Furthermore, what if he IS innocent? Makes, "Hate that for him...Not!!!" seem a little more flippant, doesn't it?
  3. Looking ahead to the 9th Region Tournament: Beechwood now has 4 losses to teams in the 9th with one loss each to Conner, Cov Cath, Highlands and Ryle. They have one win, each, over Cov Cath, Highlands and Ryle. Cov Cath has 2 losses to teams in the 9th, with one loss each to Beechwood and Ryle. Today also added a win over Beechwood.
  4. Cov Cath repeats as the 35th District champs. Beechwood led 3-2 at the end of the 1st inning. Cov Cath tied it at 3 in the 3rd inning, and went up 4-3 in the 4th inning. Beechwood tied it back up at 4 in the 6th inning, and then the Colonels started off the 7th inning with two outs and no one on before pulling ahead for the win with 3 late runs in the first half of the inning. The Tigers weren't able to rally in the bottom of the 7th.
  5. About 4 weeks ago a judge granted a motion filed by Richard Allen's attorneys to move him from the Westville Correctional Facility where he has been held since shortly after his arrested in October 2022 to another undisclosed facility within the Department of Correction. The filing stated that Allen is being held in a 6' x 10' cell, without a bed and only a thin sleeping pad to put down on the concrete floor. It also stated he has not been allowed any visitors, has little if any time outside of his cell, and that he is being given insufficient clothing changes. Their claim is that this has led to a rapid deterioration in Allen's physical and mental state. Allen's attorneys also publicly released a picture of him on social media, where he definitely looks dirty and surprisingly thinner than he did in his booking photo from 7 months ago. 6. That's a good question. There are certainly a good number of Oldham County kids who end up at CAL, St. X, and Trinity, but I'm not sure how many of those kids start off in the Oldham County Youth Football League. CAL has a team in the Louisville Youth Football League, and then the grade schools in the Archdiocese have the Louisville Catholic Schools Athletic Association which I believe goes from 3rd through 8th grade. I've never seen a full list of which schools in the Archdiocese field teams, so I'm not sure if any of the Catholic schools in Oldham County and the other Kentucky counties surrounding Louisville have teams in the CSAA. @Tigerpride94 could obviously speak better to the CSAA info than I can, and @ColonelMike probably has a better grasp on the attrition rate from OCYF to the Jefferson County private schools. Speaking from what I've seen in NKY with Cov Cath, the vast majority of the players on Cov Cath's high school team come up through the Colonel Youth Football program. I would probably guess that the number of kids who end up playing at Cov Cath after coming up in other NKY youth football programs is currently pretty close to the number of kids who come up playing in the Colonel Youth Football program and then end up playing high school ball in other NKY high schools.
  7. Coach McMillen started up the Walton-Verona football program, guiding the Bearcats through their first few years of JV football before taking the program through its first year of varsity football in the 2008 season. He handed over the keys to Jeff Barth in 2009, and I believe he remained on the WV coaching staff through the 2014 season before taking the head coaching job at Bellevue in 2015. Coach McMillen headed the Bellevue program from the 2015 season through 2018 season, and departed for Ludlow to take over as head baseball coach in the 2019-20 school year. He's a Ludlow native and well liked within the community and school. Additional to being the co-athletic director at Ludlow, Woody and Ludlow boys basketball coach Aaron Stamm also became the internet radio voice of the Panthers in the 2020 season. Solid hire. Congratulations and good luck to Coach McMillen and the Panthers!
  8. Draw is on Thursday. Tournament action starts Sunday at Thomas More Stadium in Florence. Beechwood (24-7) 16-3 in region. Conner (25-12) 13-8 in region. Covington Catholic (22-9) 18-2 in region. Dixie Heights (12-21) vs. Lloyd Memorial (14-16) winner. Highlands (19-14) 13-6 in region. Newport Central Catholic (12-17) 9-7 in region. Ryle (25-10) 16-2 in region. St. Henry (13-18) 11-10 in region.
  9. So with South Oldham officially open, that leaves 3 programs currently with head coaching vacancies, pending Ludlow's announcement since they have apparently made their hire. Ludlow South Oldham Webster County
  10. Coach Hayes has been coaching for the middle school program and is a Caverna High School grad. Congratulations and good luck to Coach Hayes and the Colonels!
  11. My thoughts exactly. That game is a complete mismatch in every sense. Calpreps projects that last year, Pikeville would have won 50-3.
  12. Not currently listed on the district website or the KHSAA open jobs listings. I didn't readily come across anything on social media either. Whatcha hearing?
