Dicky Beal will tell you himself, had he not taken that shot and waited maybe 2 or 3 seconds longer, that game never even goes to overtime. Dicky was the type of player that played with confidence and he wasn't going to miss that last shot. In the end, him shooting too soon gave Shelby just enough time to get that last shot off by Hurtt, which sent the game to OT and allowed SC to win on a no call.

Why didn't Popp play more down the stretch then if he's got such a great shot? IMO that's what Boone was lacking in the region tournament was a legit 3 pt threat.

Blake Bryan of Villa Madonna and yes he was a junior this year. I believe he averaged 33 or 34 ppg. I wouldn't put him in the same class as some of the others being mentioned in this thread though.

You forgot Boone also returns Earls....I'd have him ahead of the Brown kid that you mentioned. I also disagree that Popp is the best pure shooter in nky. That will belong to Meyer or Pangallo next year IMO.

Ricardo was Holmes best player this year, so of course Coach Henley wanted the ball in his hands. Riley has had some pretty big games against solid competition though with the likes of Guyn of SC guarding him. He can create and get to the rim pretty well for his size. He may not be able to play right away, but by his junior year, he could be a nice contributor at a big D2, small D1 college. He would start his freshman year at a D3 program IMO. I said it earlier in this thread and I'll say it again...I think an NAIA program like Pikeville, Union, or Cumberland would be a great fit for him.

Keisten Jones will be a junior. He's their "big man". Nice size kid at 6'4 with a lot of talent.

Those players that you just mentioned, along with Orlando Rutledge (Fern Creek), Kevin Glenn (Male), Quintrell Morris (Fairdale), Jomari Bradshaw (Waggener), Alexsander Nikolic (Manual), and Donovan Johnson (Shelby County), round out the top 25 seniors for next year. Kentucky is going through a cycle right now, where there is a lot of talent in each class. I think the c/o 2010 might be one of the best to ever come through though.

I just looked it up and saw it on several Rivals sites that X has indeed offered Jackson, along with West Virginia as well.

Didn't people say at the beginning of the year that Riley was a pure PG and that's why Holmes would succeed? Now all of a sudden because he can shoot the ball, he's considered a 2? I'm not buying it. I've never thought of Riley as anything else than a PG. Bibbins was probably quicker than Riley, but didn't have a better handle. I watched Bibbins play a lot his senior year and IMO Riley is just as good of a ball handler, if not better. With that said though, Bibbins being the main man his senior year made him a much better prospect out of high school than Riley is.

And this is why Riley will likely take the Juco route, in hopes of getting better looks down the road after proving himself at that level. I agree that he doesn't have the size or strength to play the 2, but he could definetly play the 1. With his work ethic, I don't see any reason why he couldn't be a solid role player off the bench at Morehead in 2 years, after time in the weight room. I honestly think he could play at NKU though. People said the same thing about Bibbins out of high school and look at the career he's had. He and Riley are right around the same size out of high school.

I agree. I was much more impressed with Smith though than Gabbard. Both will be good players next year though and likely see their scoring figures go up.

I think you misread my post...let me be a little more clear. Gabbard will be the best 9th region pg next year. Rico will be the best player in nky next year but I wouldn't consider him the best pg because it won't be his primary position. He'll play 3 or 4 different positions during the span of a game, depending on the situation and personnell in with him. As far as NKY goes as a whole, Kellen Smith of Scott will be the best pg in the area, as like Gabbard, he is a true PG and that's his only position.

I've heard the same. I remember hearing that Cincy St was at a few of the region games to watch Housely and Morehead was showing some interest in Riley along with several junior colleges. I doubt Morehead offers him, but a preferred walk on spot is probably likely for him. I think Riley will end up taking the JC route so he can play right away and get better looks in 2 years, similar to what Hill did two years ago. After the state tournament that Riley had though, it wouldn't surprise me if he picked up a few offers from some big D2 schools. Had NKU not signed Faulkner, I think that could have been a perfect fit IMO. Either could play at the NAIA schools in KY such as Union, Pikeville, Cumberland, etc. Those would all be nice fits for both.

I agree. Mike Code or Schumate of Beechwood would be excellent candidates for the position. I think next years' group would thrive in Schumate's uptempo offense and as you stated, Code always gets the best out of his players.

At the end of the season though there are no rematches. MC didn't take care of business when they had the opportunity which make Shelby Valley the better team. Mason Co also lost to Lexcath as well...

I think Gabbard will likely lead the 9th in assists. He is the best TRUE PG in the region next year IMO with Pangallo right behind him and then Trammel. I would say Ricardo of Holmes will be the best pg in nky next year, but I see him playing 3 or 4 different positions depending on the personnel that he has in with him. Overall, I see Kellen Smith of Scott being the best PG in nky next year. I was impressed with him this year for only being a soph.

I was thinking the same thing. No way Mason Co should be mentioned in the top 5 or in front of Shelby Valley for that matter.

On the second one it looks almost as if he jumped over a Holmes and Lexcath player going for it. :eek:
