Poll consists of the top 10 returning 9th region players in assists according to Northern Kentucky Enquirer. Vote for who you think sits atop the 9th Region assists leaderboard at the end of next season. Why? How does that particular player help his team? Will that players performance make his team successful?

You've asked two different questions: Who will tally the most assists and who is the best PG. Not the same thing.

Are you asking who will actually have the highest number of assists?

I said other because I believe Mayfield from Holmes will get alot of PT at the PG position. He is a pass first type player and will be passing to guys such as the Johnson brothers, Pittman and Arnold, all of which can put the ball in the hole.

Never mentioned PG. True, many of these listed are, but I'm asking for who will tally the most assists. I'm then asking how these players affect their team. Ricardo Johnson and Mitch McLeish are prime examples of players on this list who do not play PG.

You're missing Zach Lother from Highlands and Conor Maschinot from Cov Cath. Both should be among the contenders for the lead.

I agree Lother especially will make a run for it, but I kept it within the top ten leaders from this year. I also know Mayfield will probably be close to reaching Riley's success, but yet Riley wasn't the assists leader this year; Grant Pangallo was the overall leader in the 9th and second in the NKAC to Kellen Smith from Scott. Ricardo Johnson actually had 4 more assists than Riley, the duo finishing 5 and 6 respectively in the region. Remember all stats come from Enquirer.

I think Gabbard will likely lead the 9th in assists. He is the best TRUE PG in the region next year IMO with Pangallo right behind him and then Trammel.

I would say Ricardo of Holmes will be the best pg in nky next year, but I see him playing 3 or 4 different positions depending on the personnel that he has in with him.

Overall, I see Kellen Smith of Scott being the best PG in nky next year. I was impressed with him this year for only being a soph.

I would say Gabbard from Boone, he is the best true PG returning in the 9th.

Who will be the best? I am confused.

I agree!

I do agree with Trammel being in the running. But with pompilio (sp?) leaving wont he become more of a scorer? Everyone thinks that dixie will be a good team next year but its tough to replace someone that can play like him!

Wes Smith, the will-be-senior center, will make an excellent target for Trammel this year. He doesn't have the outside shooting ability of Pompilio, but he is a great athletic big man. I also think Raleigh will give Trammel substantial help in the backcourt. He won't have as an outstanding a year as I think Gabbard(my choice) and Pangallo will have, but by his senior year he might not only be the best PG in the region but the best overall guard as he also has decent scoring ability.

Gabbard is the best, but will probably need to score more next year with McFarland gone.

Who will be the best? I am confused.

I think you misread my post...let me be a little more clear.

Gabbard will be the best 9th region pg next year.

Rico will be the best player in nky next year but I wouldn't consider him the best pg because it won't be his primary position. He'll play 3 or 4 different positions during the span of a game, depending on the situation and personnell in with him.

As far as NKY goes as a whole, Kellen Smith of Scott will be the best pg in the area, as like Gabbard, he is a true PG and that's his only position.

I like Gabbard in the 9th. As far as Northern Ky I would call it a toss up between Gabbard & Kellen Smith from Scott. I think both will be asked to score more next year with the returning players on each team.
