Congrats again to the Bulldogs for a great season, topped off with a state championship. National rankings are obviously just for fun, but it's nice to see not only a KY team, but a NKY team get recognized by more than one poll as one of the top 25 teams in the country at the end of the season.

The Bulldogs captured their first all-class state championship by outlasting Louisville Central, 67-63, in a double-overtime thriller in the Sweet Sixteen final before 15,632 at Rupp Arena in Lexington. The Bulldogs set a school record for wins (36) while savoring the first crown after three runner-up finishes, most recently in 2008. Ricardo Johnson, the MVP, averaged 13.3 points and eight rebounds in four games. Season complete.

Wow, great to see Holmes getting the credit they deserve.

When they were on, they were impressive! When they were off, they still won. Congrats on a great year and getting recognition for our state!

I'd project them to be in the top 25 again with what they have coming back and its very possible we could have TWO teams in top 25 as well with Scott County also returning alot.

Just to point out what a great season Elliott County had. 2 of their 3 losses were to #22 Holmes (35-2) and #35 Cedar Hill (34-4) with both losses by 10 points. Not bad when your losses are to Top 50 nationally ranked teams!!The other loss was to Shelby Valley who they beat in the quarter-finals of the Sweet Sixteen and finished the year at 32-3.:clap:

36-2 with both losses avenged (Boone Co and Bryan Station), a 70-5 record over the last 2 years, back to back state finals appearances, and returning 2 of the 3 all tournament team members (Ricardo Johnson and Elijah Pittman), the sweet 16 MVP (Rico Johnson), a memeber of the first and second team all state (Elijah and Rico), the player that led them in double double's (Jerimiah Johnson), and one of the best sophomores in the state (Kevon Rice) I think it is a safe bet to assume they will be a top 25 team next season.

Holmes is 138-31 over the past 5 seasons. 70-5 over last 2 years with 4 sweet 16 appearances, 3 final fours, 2 championship appearances, and one title. That is soilid, and coming of a 36-2 season, there is no way that they don't get national attention to start the season next year.
