Yeah but we're talking about best freshman not necessarily the ones to keep an eye on. I mean if you have seen him and think he is one of the best then so be it, but it sounds like he just has the potential.

He throws hard but has no control at all. I hope he has a good season for ya'll and learns to place the ball better. If he does he will be a real solid pitcher!

Sounds like Bellevue took one on the chin last night. Kind of surprised considering few were picking them to blow Williamstown out.

AJ Smith is #10 for Beechwood. He is a legit 6'7. I saw Beechwood against Holmes and he was every bit as big as Pittman, if not a little bigger.

ADD: I'm special. I didn't know X and T were ALL BOYS schools. lol. Ooops.

To be honest, that enrollment isn't that high. I went to a HS with close to 4000 people. If combining them gives them 2800, then each school has 1400? TBH, NKY has LOW enrollment. I was shocked when I heard the size of some of my friends senior classes.

I would say that overall the football in NKY is better, but X and Trinity are better than anything NKY has to offer. This is not to say Highlands isnt a great football team; they are. I don't think anyone can say otherwise. But I think both X and Trinity would be able to beat Highlands.

I think he is a freshman, yes, but have heard he is nowhere near the level of talent as his brother. Have not seen him play, so I can't say with my own eyes, but going based on what people have said I wouldn't classify him as a top freshman. I would say that Travis Elliot out at Ryle is a top freshman, no doubt. He was on the freshman team last year as an eighth grader, and I'd be surprised to see him on the freshman team this year.

I don't think Lafever is a top 10 player, or anything outstanding by any means, but he isn't THAT bad. I mean TBH CCH had a bigger problem than him last year, he actually did a decent job at what his role was. I don't know the kid, but if he does read this, it's a bit mean for people to poke so much fun. =/

I don't see how you can say Beechwood is down when they only lost one player from last year in Hall. They gave Holmes a run for their money when I saw them play and are actually a pretty good team. They have a decent big man in 6'7 AJ Smith and have two good shooting guards in Romes and Beuttell.

Ah, well that could spell trouble since CCH hasn't played very physical yet. But hopefully CCH will begin to gel as a team better this game, lol I said that last prediction thread, but I will just keep saying it until it happens .

I don't think they are the best team in NKY. Highlands obviously is, and I'd say Newcath probably would still beat them in a rematch. But I don't know that Beechwood would beat them to be honest.

Don't know anything about Conner, but I'm going to go with CCH by less than 10. I think it will be close. If CCH guards can't handle the ball and the pressure and we throw up shots the way we have been and miss FT's and get even close to the turnover amount in the past two games, it will be rough. What does Conner have?

I agree we won't see the true team until around February if Mitch is healthy by then.

I think Shover is a good guard, VERY obviously the best CCH has. And it hurts like heck not having him. His health is obviously much more important to everyone however. And to be honest, even with him back, we would not have had a healthy Mitch. This game wasn't going to be close anyway shape or how. Mason Co. was better, thats it.

I believe you're referring to the way a couple of boys act when they are replaced in the game, and to that I agree. Last year it was pitiful to watch the lack of respect some of the boys had for Coach L. I was hoping it would get in check and from what I saw last night, there are still a few who don't take kindly to being removed from the game. Hopefully the leaders will take control of the issue. If not it will only get worse as shown last year. I'd also like to say, in the two games I've seen the JV play, I have been impressed with a few players. Robinson and Connely look pretty good. Hudepohl REALLY impressed me against Mason Co. The little blonde kid [i'm sorry I don't know his name] really impresses me. I actually at times would put him over Pauly..and Schulte was impressive in the two games I've seen as well.

I'd say they needed him against Beechwood. Can't remember how many points he logged but I think it was 20 to 24. And they did not beat Beechwood by more than that. Take away his big game and who knows. I agree that he needs to step up against the tough competition he will face.

I think he does a great job with his hustle, and I think he does well enough on defense to be a contributor for a couple quality minutes here and there. He should have a great JV year and next year be able to do much more varsity wise.

It's odd, but the JV teams from CCH that I have watched, including last years players who are now playing varsity, never did that either. They ran plays, they passed in, they took good selection shots from the outside [and never went 5/23 or whatever outlandish number it was from tuesday]..and I'm not too sure why the JV theory isn't incorporated at the varsity level. But I know it's not bound to change anytime soon, so all we spectators can do is wonder.

Was at the game and although you say Maile is not a guard, you've seen him play I'm sure and you know he doesn't do much down low action. So yes he did play as a guard. And at one point they even had an all JV lineup besides Maile, or it may have been Ives.

I'm pretty sure CCH plays Conner on Tuesday at home. Don't know much about Conner this year at all, so I'm not sure how it will go.

I can say Thelen got away with fouls because he did. I know it is an aspect of the game, I've played since I was 8. However, to say that he played with an amazing tenacity just wouldn't be accurate. He did ok. Nobody on the team did particularly great or good. Ives had a pretty decent showing, but beyond that no one did more than ok. It is just truth. When someone DOES do something great, I'll tell you. Oh, and last night's outcome wouldn't have changed even WITH any tenacity. Mason Co. was just better.
