  1. I'm personally getting a little tired of this waiting game. The Henrys and Wall seem to like the attention a bit too much for my taste. I understand chosing a college is a big decision.... however, they've had ample time to consider all ramifications!!
  2. You know what was most impressive about the appearance for the young man was his composure? He hit spots very well and had the D to back him up. However, he never looked rattled or frustrated and for a first appearance, that's unusual. A pat on the back to him!
  3. No disrespect meant for Lloyd at all Juggernaut! I'm an admirer of the program. I also saw the Bellevue/Lloyd game previously where Bellevue played terribly and Lloyd played very well. Bellevue had a very solid game this weekend in the Doc Morris! I'll agree that Lloyd did not perform as well as they had in the previous matchup and perhaps it was due to being tired. Baseball is a game that requires players to be balanced and can take it's toll with multiple games and outside activities. Regardless of how tired any Lloyd players were, Bellevue played very fundamentally sound baseball. That's not an insult to Lloyd. :-) Congrats again to Bellevue on playing some great ball of late... not just against Lloyd.
  4. Bellevue played a very solid game.... defense, pitching, offense, and poise. All the parts were there - very good stuff to see!!
  5. The Generals are playing some very good ball!!!!!
  6. While I didn't think that errors cost them the Lloyd game, they certainly made the score a bit more spread than it should have been.
  7. It's been random. These kids are well rounded ball players. It's painful to watch them mess up a game because they make errors and allow their heads to get fuzzled. Hopefully, things will begin to mesh and they'll be more fluid in all areas of their game.
  8. Very good point! I hadn't even considered how a forfeit could change the landscape like this. Very true!!!
  9. That's unfortunate that players would let their team mates down like that. Despite Villa's struggles, I have a ton of respect for the coach and the players for building a program. Too bad they didn't get to participate in the tourney.
  10. Awesome! Congrats to the Generals!!! :-)
  11. I will agree with the other assessments as well. However, in watching them warm up on Sunday against Bellevue, I was impressed. A winning baseball team requires many parts to be successful.... team chemistry, coaching, confidence, etc. as well as athleticism. I thought I saw those intangibles in Lloyd. It remains early in the season, so time will tell. As for now... my hat's off to them as a solid team that deserves respect for what they've done.
  12. I believe Scott is the #1. He was actually about a week late starting the season due to an injury. One thing that has impressed me with Bellevue that wouldn't be anticipated from reading threads here is that their pitching is much better than one would expect from a school their size. Their ability and their depth are both better than most would expect. The pitching staff has served them very well. I probably should clarify that I was just referencing the other post. I don't want to sound as if not having Scott throw against Lloyd lost the game. Lloyd was a VERY good team!! They were coached well and they earned my respect from this one game. Regardless of who threw that day for Bellevue (Piper, Scott, or one of the others), Lloyd outplayed us. :thumb:
  13. No they did not. Piper through against Lloyd and he isn't first in their rotation or their "ace". Piper pitched very well for the first few innings until he made a defensive error and then seem to struggle. Piper had last thrown against Boone County on Tuesday, which was five days prior.
  14. Jones possesses the ability to hit for average, ability to hit for power as well as excellent speed. I suspect he also has an arm that grades out pretty high, although I've never seen him truly tested in that area. There is absolutely no doubt that Hunter is a top DI player as evidenced by his recruiting process and watching him play repeatedly. I'm sure he'll have the attention of pro scouts as well.... how much time will tell. What parents and even coaches observe in a player doesn't always equate to what pro and college scouts are witnessing. A player may have a terrible game according to someone on the sidelines. The potential that a scout can assess is a skill.... they're paid for it. I have no doubt that they are grading Jones very well.
  15. I thought it was one of the best movies I'd ever seen as well. It does start out a bit confusing as you're trying to figure out what's happening. Then of course, you realize why everything's moving the way it is. VERY good movie!!
  16. EKU has lost over recent years to several "lower" level schools including Georgetown. I think last year and presently, they probalby have some of the best talent they've had since Ward was there. They play Georgetown in a week or two.... will be interesting to see what they do with that one. They have greatly improved over the last couple of years.
  17. I don't know what either team was doing in scheduling these games. I haven't seen KY State play in a couple of years, but I know they were unable to beat your worst DIII teams. This is a program that I believe must not have very much support from the school at all. (JMO - don't know the facts) The field and stands are worse than almost all high school fields. I believe in a challenging schedule, but make it a realistic challenge.
  18. Interesting setup Cooperstown! I truly feel sorry for the parent that can't relax enough to enough the joy of seeing their son play this sport. That means that their son can't truly develop a love for the game on his own or focus a passion into the game. He has to be worried, embarrassed, or focused on mom/dad. That's a shame. The game has brought so many friends and life lessons into my own life. That has come through supporting my son for so many years. I truly believe it was "supporting" and I pray I didn't cross the line into being an obnoxious fan. I know he's the wonderful adult he is because of the coaches, game, players and folks that surrounded him on just about a daily basis growing up and into adulthood. I watched a couple of games earlier this week and just felt like I breathed in baseball! Watching your own players make mistakes isn't always enjoyable, but it is to watch a young man's head process those mistakes and learn baseball.... priceless!! "Great game" it is in so many ways!!
  19. Dad - Love your positive thoughts on baseball. I think some of your most positive baseball experiences were visiting those folks at Lafayette in Lex! LOL Seriously, baseball does provide a bond that is unique and beyond what most other sports can provide. I will say that my son's senior year brought some negative experiences with heckling towards his team that I still remember this day. When I reflect though, I realize those were tiny parts of a great journey. I also realize that those teams/fans that were expert at heckling are pretty much thought of as jack***** in general. So, don't let any jerks ruin the experiences of a beautiful sport for you. Tune them out... let them embarrass themselves.... whatever. It is YOUR game. :-) BTW, as I've shared with you before, KC always had some of the most polite fans and players I've ever met!! Play ball!!
  20. I think Georgetown would be a very good fit for this young man for several reasons, including a good place to utilize his ability as well as being close to home base.
  21. These kids are tough and there's some very good players along with good coaching. I've seen several games and the losses they've had have been tough close games. The parts are all there for Bellevue and I wonder some times if those players really believe what they can achieve. I think they're use to be one of the bottom teams and over the last few years, they've built a solid ball team without truly realizing they've climbed the ladder so to speak. I'd like to see each player play with increased confidence realizing their accomplishments and improvements - even after an error or two. They should all be enjoying the turn around at Bellevue and the opportunity that many of these players may have to actually play college ball one day. Wish I'd caught this game of Bellevue and Highlands! Would have enjoyed seeing both of these teams compete. Again, I hope Bellevue players continue to battle and not be discouraged by some defensive errors and close games. There's a lot of season remaining!!
  22. They did an EXCELLENT job! I was crazy mad!! LOL Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
  23. But, he's NOT. If he was doing SOMETHING right.... winning or being the PR fit the program needs, this probably wouldn't be happening. The problem for BG is he's done nothing across the board within the requirements of a program like UK that will allow the administration to keep him. I respect Forde, but I really don't see them going after Travis. I like him and think he's a tremendous coach. Just missing a few years of seasoning!
