  1. I feel the need to share because I am extremely proud of my round I had on Sunday. I woke up Sunday morning around 8 and just had an overwhelming feeling to go golf. It had been about 2 weeks since I'd golfed last and the crave finally got to me. So, I got on GolfNow and looked for a good price around Lexington. Came across a deal for a course called Cassell Creek in Winchester for 10:00, which would give me enough time to run by Wal Mart and pick up some golf balls on my way out. I'd never played there before, but the course looked fairly open and not too difficult when I arrived. At this point, please note that I am generally a mid-90's player who can occasionally score in the high 80's. My first drive went dead straight, a rare occurrence for me due to my nasty slice. Second shot put me on the green and I proceeded to 2-putt for par. Great way to start the day, if I do say so myself. Next, I pull up to a 195 yard par 3. Whip out my 3 iron and give it a good whack. Again, I'm on the green in regulation and I 2-putt to another par. Man, this is going to be a GREAT day! The goal now is to not fall apart completely. Then comes the 525 yard par 5 with a dogleg right. My drive goes a little short of the bend, a pathetic 225 yard drive that had way too much loft to it. 300 yards to the hole... I can't really see the hole from where I'm at, but I have a decent line with my naturally occurring slice. Out comes my 3-wood (best club in my bag) and I give it what feels like the best hit of my life. I mean this ball ROCKETED off my club and went exactly where I wanted it. I've got to be dead middle of the fairway, maybe 50 yards short of the cup. So as I'm driving up and looking for my ball, I just can't seem to find it anywhere. How do you lose your ball in the middle of the fairway?? You place it 4 feet from the cup is how. Tap in for Eagle. Skip ahead to the back 9, and I'm lying about 120 yards out from the hole. Let's use a 9-iron for this one. Smooth hit and the ball sails on a perfect line towards the flag stick. Lands a few feet short, but rolling... Rolling.... OH BABY!!!! Another Eagle!!!! This is where I decided I'm going to at least par out the last several holes, because I'm looking at a great score as it is. I end up going -2 the rest of the way and finishing with a score of 75... 3 over par. This was officially the best round of golf I will ever play in my life, and I still don't know what the heck came over me. It felt like every shot went exactly where I wanted for the entire day. I'm sure I'll be back to my old self next time I go out, but I'm considering retiring on top at this point. I love this sport.
  2. I'm really excited for this class coming in. They really seem pumped about coming to the University of Kentucky. The past few years, we've gotten guys solely because of Cal being here. While that's still obviously the main reason these guys are coming, I get the sense that that already LOVE the school and the fans before even arriving on campus. I think they want it for the fans just as much as they do themselves. Looks like a great group of kids to me.
  3. Has anyone else attempted it yet? I've spent all day today modding my themes, adding some of my own graphic designs into them and so on. I also got a new app on there where I can record everything I do on my screen and upload it to YouTube. So if anyone needs any tutorials after they've jailbroken, I can physically show you the steps. Just let me know.
  4. Haha you'll get the hang of it. Looks like you've already figured a lot out. Have you learned how to add repos yet? Or ROMs for your SNES? Glad you got MXTube. I was planning on posting it because I just discovered it as well. Here's a few more apps you might consider: CallBar Gridlock PdaNet (from the insanelyi repo) SBAdBlockToggle (from the xSellize repo) Springtomize 2 xBackup Also, if you have Siri, there are a ton of extensions you can give her. I got one called SiriSports where I can ask for current scores and game times. If you don't have Siri.... I think there are apps where you can add the feature. Not sure what they're called or which repo they're located in though.
  5. How's the jailbreak treating ya? What all apps have you gotten?
  6. Don't worry, it's not really a warning. If you haven't got it installed yet, just keep trying. I personally wouldn't even worry about the notification thing. All that means is that you can have the toggles show up in your notification center. Kind of pointless I think, but I'd you want to do it go to: Settings>Notifications>SBSettings and enable it. You can't do that until the app is installed though.
  7. OK, so once you have Cydia the possibilities of what to do next are pretty much endless. 1. Open the Cydia app and let it finish downloading it's data. Feel free to look through the FAQ's on the main page to get an understanding of how it works. (Rule#1 - Don't freak out by how your phone is about to act when you start downloading apps from Cydia. It's a lot different from the regular App Store.) 2. Go do a search for the following apps: SBSettings, Winterboard, 3G Unrestrictor (costs a couple dollars I think, but it's the best app money can buy), iFile, and CyDelete. These are the MAIN apps you'll need and want for your jailbroken phone. Install all of them. Note: If the app does not install properly, don't freak. Right now there are TONS of people trying to download apps because of the new jailbreak release. Just keep trying to install until it completes. 3. Once you have these apps installed, you can start searching around for other apps. Go to the tab called "Sections" and look through the apps. Any theme you download can be used through Winterboard (which is the main customization app). If you see a theme you like, just download, install, and open up Winterboard. Click on "Select Themes" and choose the theme you wish to use. Then close out of the app by hitting the home button, and your phone will respring to update to the new theme. Play around with themes as much as you want until you find something you like. 4. SBSettings works by sliding your finger across the status bar at the top from left to right. The settings will pop down and you can now toggle wi-fi, 3G, bluetooth, adjust your brightness, and so forth from there. You can respring, power off, refresh, and even free up memory by closing unused processes. 5. I have typed entirely too much... Need a quick break.
  8. Hopefully you figured out that you are a User. Feel free to explore the apps on there. I'm about to upload a list of the ones I've downloaded so far.
  9. To jailbreak your phone, follow this procedure as closely as possible: 1. Go to this link. 2. Depending on your operating software, choose the appropriate download link from that website. You will see DOWNLOAD ABSINTHE 2.0.1 with 3 links below it. Choose the correct one for your system and download the program. It will be in a .zip file. 3. Once the file is downloaded, open the .zip file. There is a readme.txt file in that folder. Follow those instructions to the letter! Basically, all it tells you to do is drag the .exe file you see to desktop and double click it on the desktop. A terminal will pop up on your screen and begin doing it's thing. Once that window closes, there will be a new folder on your desktop called absinthe-win-2.0.1. 4. BEFORE MOVING ON IN THE JAILBREAKING PROCESS, BACK UP YOUR iPhone IN iTunes!!! Connect your phone, open iTunes, right click the name of your phone on the left hand side, and click where it says backup. Let it create the backup before moving on. Once that process has finished, you may now close iTunes, but keep your phone connected to the computer. I can't stress enough how important this backup is. 5. Go back to your desktop and open your new folder you obtained in step 3. Double click where it says "absinthe". This will open the jailbreaking program and you are ready to begin. Click the jailbreak button and sit tight. It will take awhile to complete. Just leave it alone until it says it's done! 6. Once finished, you should now have a Cydia app on your iPhone. This means your phone has officially been jailbroken. ENJOY!!! 7. Feel free to connect back to iTunes and restore your phone from the backup you just created. Here is another link that describes the above procedures and has a trouble shooting guide in case something goes wrong. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on here.
  10. To kind of give you all an idea of customization capabilities, here's a shot of my homescreen: The picture on the top left is actually part of a slideshow that continuously plays in that spot. I replaced the default nature pics with some of my own and it really wasn't THAT difficult to do. The weather widget updates automatically as well. Here's a shot of the phone screen: You can change the AT&T logo to say whatever you want, as you can see in this picture. There's TONS of themes you can download through Cydia. Speaking of which... Next post will explain the process of obtaining Cydia through jailbreaking.
  11. Sorry guys! I've been a little pre-occupied messing around with my phone. I'm going to upload some pics of the theme I just edited. Glad you got it jailbroken PP92. It isn't so hard, is it?? I'll still put up the links and instructions for others. Then, I'll go over the apps I've downloaded so far and get into some detail about how to do some things. Stay tuned folks...
  12. Cons: So many awesome apps, it's easy to eventually big down iPhone performance because you just want to keep adding stuff. There are occasional glitches, at least there used to be. They may have fixed them since then, but I'm not sure yet. By glitches I mean your app just shutting off or freezing occasionally. This is usually caused by con #1 above. Can be avoided by making sure your phone isn't doing too much at once. All it requires to fix is a quick re-spring (Like a reboot, but much quicker. You'll catch on if you do it.). Other than that, I really can't think of any other cons right now. Some would say your warranty doesn't cover a jailbroken iPhone, but that's why you just unjailbreak before you take it in to Apple. I'll be able to give a more thorough evaluation once I get mine done and play around with it some.
  13. I never said my internet would be fast the entire time...
  14. Absinthe 2.0 has been released!! I've been waiting on this for awhile now, and since I'm at work I feel like a kid in Christmas Eve. I should be jailbroken by around 6 this evening. Already looked at the instructions and it's a VERY simple process. I'll test it out before I give the link though. I'll also try to post whatever apps I download with descriptions.
  15. It's really hard to narrow it down to three top reasons because it's more of a combination of a bunch of smaller things. I'll try to give a quick three though: 1. Full Customization: Themes, animations, customized status bars, lock screens, etc. When I had a jailbroken phone awhile back, I had the Android lock screen which I loved. I just read about a new one that is facial recognition to unlock your phone which I plan on trying out. You can also add Intelliscreen which basically gives you the ability to add a news feed, weather, and a lot of other things to your lock screen. You can add gestures which will do certain things, such as a two finger swipe will bring back up your previous app, or tap with three fingers to make a phone call, and so on and so forth. If you want your iPhone to look or act in a certain way, you have that ability with a jailbroken phone. The further you get into it, the better it gets. 2. 3G/4G Unrestrictor: One of my personal favorites. There are certain things you can only do when in range of wi-fi, such as FaceTime and downloading large apps or files. This app removes those restrictions and you are free to use the full functionality of the phone wherever you may be. I'm also going to throw MyWi into this category. Turn your iPhone into a Wi-Fi hotspot for your laptop. Since I have an unlimited data plan, there's really no limit as to how much I can use my computer connected to the internet through my iPhone. Anywhere you have 3G/4G service, you can now connect your laptop to the internet. 3. File Transfer: You can get certain apps on both your phone and your computer which allow for seemless file transfer between the two. Unlike syncing, there are no restrictions on what types of files you can transfer. Your phone becomes much more like a computer, in that you can open, view, edit, play, and listen to whatever type of file you want. I add gameboy ROMS to my phone and play them through an emulator. I believe there are now emulators for several gaming systems such as playstation, xbox, and so on. You can buy the ROMS for these online through various sources. You can organize your files however you like in folders, and if you REALLY know what your doing, you can edit iPhone system files. Delete some unnecessary files and speed up your phone while increasing battery life. It really can make a huge difference. If, in the end, you decide all this stuff isn't for you or you worry about the health of your phone, it is very simple to unjailbreak and restore your phone back to how it is today. There's really no reason not to try it. Most people kick themselves in the butt for not doing it sooner.
  16. Will do. The release is "supposed" to be tomorrow. Delays happen all the time with these kinds of things though, so we'll see if it actually does.
  17. This is not particularly true. They release jailbreak updates for each iOS update. It may take a little longer because you have to re-jailbreak with the new software after you update your phone and you may have to wait a few weeks for the new jailbreak software after the iOS update has been released, but the extra effort is worth it IMO. Backup phone before jailbreak, perform system restore before you take it to Apple. I've actually had to do it before (cracked my screen) and they took my old phone and gave me a new one.
  18. Here's a pretty good article with some of the top apps from Cydia. 3G Unrestrictor is one of my favorites. If you just google "Best Cydia Apps" or "Why should I jailbreak" you can really learn a lot about the perks of jailbreaking. As far as ruining your iPhone, I wouldn't worry about it at all. A few years ago that used to be a problem, but the jailbreak developers have pretty much perfected the process and I haven't heard of any problems for a long time now. It's also very easy to do. Just make sure you backup your phone beforehand.
  19. I didn't even notice you shut it down. Yes it is definitely legal and very common these days. I'm not into the whole downloading apps illegally thing. I pay for all of my apps. Cydia offers a much greater selection though, and can really open up the capabilities of the phone. It's amazing how much functionality the iPhone is capable of, but Apple hides a lot of it.
  20. I'm probably going to jailbreak my 4S when the new release comes out this week. I haven't had a jailbroken phone in a couple of years though, so could anyone that has one offer some apps I should get through Cydia? For the life of me, I can't remember what all I used to have and I know they have released a lot of new apps for the 4S that I know nothing about. Help is much appreciated.
  21. This last episode seemed like a "calm before the storm" type thing to me... This week should be one of the best episodes to date. It was written by GRRM and has the highest budget of any previous episode. I'm expecting an epic battle at King's Landing. This show just keeps getting better and better! I think I might read the books as soon as this season ends... I won't be able to resist any longer.
  22. Ouch... Better be a heck of a pay bump. Congrats!
  23. I think OKC will be heading to the Finals after an AWESOME 6 or 7 game series with the Spurs. Looking forward to this one.
  24. ^ Looks good to me. I'll be seeing it no doubt. Really wish Sony would sell the rights so he could be an Avenger.
