  1. I would agree with this. Line em up and I'll take Lokesak. He looks like a rocket got fired out of his rear when he runs.
  2. No way that I could ever consider Darner and Isler in the class of pure athlete compared to Lokesak and Cotton. Maile is a D-1 player OBVIOUSLY but his foot speed is average so that knocks him down in the pure athlete category in my mind. Isler's only ticket to D-1 is pitching - he lacks the speed to play anywhere else at the D-1 level. I'll stick with my boys Lokesak and Cotton although I have not seen Hunter Jones play. We may be talking semantics with pure athlete and pure baseball athlete, so my bad if I have caused any confusion from that angle. It's good to keep TOG's blood-pressure up anyway.
  3. Bottom line from this game: Although CovCath rightfully wears the favorite label in the 9th, Boone is also a good team to be reckoned with. It will not be a cakewalk for CovCath to the title. Boone has some outstanding athletes, particularly Cotton and Lokesak. I would wager to say they are the top two baseball pure athletes in NKY this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are very athletic young men and complete baseball players that will lead the Rebels this year. Both can run (extremely fast - D1 fast- I might add), throw, hit and hit with power. Boone also has a lot of good hitters besides these two and will be a tough out, so to speak, this year. If their pitching surprises and continues to be pretty good, they could steal the title from CovCath just like Ryle did a couple of years back. Congrats to Boone on the win.
  4. WOW! Great job AJ! Nonos don't come around that often except for the kid in Florida this year. Beechwood serves notice to the 9th 2nite that they are a formidable opponent on any given day.
  5. What is the CC record for most consecutive wins to start a season?
  6. Congrats to CC. District wins are huge in their district. From a fans' perspective, at least The Old Guy did not have to wear his long johns today. I was getting worried about him during these games played in brutal weather.
  7. No problem with CC hitting 20 wins. They will get 30 unless we have terrible weather.
  8. Ten is actually pretty good considering the poor weather in April thus far. Sounds like the next 3 days should be good days for baseball finally. I don't see CC losing more than a couple to 9th region teams this year.
  9. I think they are up to 10-0. In addition, they just won the 33rd district regular season crown today.
  10. Ouch. Consecutive massacres vs. Conner and Boone. Sounds like CC is starting to click on a few more cylinders. Congrats to the Blue Colonels, definite favorites to win the 9th this year.
  11. BCG may be a good x's and o's coach, but his character is not even questionable. It's bad. Bye bye Billy!
  12. :thumb: The nail is hit on the head with this analysis.
  13. Siena played a great game with only 6 TO's. They deserve lots of credit. UL played well enough on D, just got sloppy with the ball. I think UL will be fine. It was a typical NCAA tourney survive and advance game.
  14. I was thinking it just might be Central's night to pull the upset two times towards the end of regulation. 1)The young man banked in a 3. 2)The Dawgs missed a bunny for the win. Outstanding game and effort by every young man that tapped in at the scorer's table. I really did not see any D1 basketball talent on Central but they are a great TEAM.
  15. WKU is a FUN team to watch. Never focus on a refs' call. WKU blew it at the line and then allowed a player to take it to the hoop and not contest the game winner. Great season for the Toppers and sad to see it send in a game I thought they could win.
  16. True. The layup we missed reminded me of the layup missed tonight. Fortunately, for Holmes, redemption was possible in OT. Maybe the most exciting finish of any KY Boys' State Championship game ever????? Best wishes to all seniors from both teams as they go on to bigger and better things in life and cherish the memories from this game. J. Riley was the unsung hero for the Dawgs IMHO!
  17. Congrats to the Dawgs! I am very happy for them. First of all, many kudos to Central. I liked everything about the way they played the game, their demeanor and grit, their coach really handles his players and game strategy well, what a great game they played. When they came back from 7 down late after controlling the game for 20 minutes, it showed what they were made of. Great season, Central. For Holmes, you earned it fair and square and deserve to be state champs 2009. Really dug deep after having a very lackluster first half. The entire 9th region salutes you. Coach Henley and staff are high class individuals and this title couldn't happen to a more deserving group. ENJOY! You are #1 in KY this season.
  18. I'd say Doggies will pull away late to win by double figures. This has a nice sound - Holmes Bulldogs - KY State Champions. Congrats to Central on a great season and if they pull the upset, it will be a barnburner with a last-second shot. I'll say Holmes 71 Central 60.
  19. There's no need to ruin a great game by whining about a ref's call being the difference. EC should be very proud. What a great story. The better team won. Congrats to the Dawgs! I hope they come out with fire tonight. Good luck to all of the fine young men from Sandy Hook going on to bigger and better things in life.
  20. My thoughts exactly. I'll take the Doggies by a bunch, say a bunch of bananas, aren't there usually about 9 to the bunch? Holmes 71 EC 62. If it is not close, it will be a nice day for the men from Covington. I can only see EC pulling an upset by the narrowest of margins at the buzzer.
  21. WTG Holmes. No way to beat them in an up tempo game IMHO so I kinda want EC to win just to show them that you won't beat the Dawgs if you try to push the tempo.
  22. Interesting how this has been so much easier so far than the 9th region games.
