  1. Tough to spot a 4-run lead. Probably will be a slugfest.
  2. This is great news. Congrats to Ice. He has the physical tools needed to go a long way in baseball on the mound. With the right breaks and good health, he could enjoy a career at one of the sports he loves. Here's hoping that will happen. Good work, young man!!!!!!
  3. It seems like Ryle has had 4 or 5 really good JV years in a row. I think they just had those 2 really good years at the varsity level in 06 and 07. I would speculate a lack of senior leadership the last two years plus their pitching staff and hitting has not been as good. They are always solid fundamentally and that can win a lot of games at the JV level with average pitching. Average pitching does not get it done as easily at the varsity level.
  4. CC only scored 5 runs today. So, how do they win in 5 innings today with Ice or Nut pitching? Let's simply give credit to Dixie for winning the game. This is a perfect example of "the better team does not always win". It happens in baseball a lot. Congrats to Dixie.
  5. Very good job, Rebels. Congrats on winning the Doctor Morris classic.
  6. Whoa. I assume this was a 5-inning affair. Cooper had been playing some decent ball so the score is a surprise. Must have been one of those days.
  7. I assume that both teams threw 4, 5 or 6th best pitchers. Shows that CC is the much better hitting team. I can't imagine their #6 pitcher being a world beater and Ryle has struggled to hit the ball. 7 runs is an onslaught for the Raiders. Congrats to CovCath on another win. CC is definitely the team to beat in the 9th this year.
  8. It was certainly not an off-nite for one set of Breds. Congrats to NC!
  9. Your math is a lot fuzzy. Even throwing out the Trinity and Conner games, which you would never do in analyzing how good a defense is over the course of a season, SK allowed over 17 points a game. Big difference between 8.5 and 17.
  10. I thought them guys were midgets out in left field. What a mess that field is.
  11. Smallwood and Donovan are both good pitchers. Congrats to Ryle on this win. I thought Dixie would pull it out.
  12. Congrats to Coach Roesel. His teams are fundamentally sound.
  13. Appears to be undecided at this point per a previous post. He will have opporturnity to play at the next level and could possibly be at the D1 level. You can't teach speed and he is a burner plus power to go along with it.
  14. Very very true. I really do not know about Station's passing game as I live up in NKY. Only Conner and Ryle up this way have started to get serious about developing a great passing game that can help you to win a big game, but I would not consider either of them a sleeper for getting to Houchens Stadium.
  15. I'll be pulling for the Boone County Track team to do well at Florence Freedom stadium around the end of May.
  16. I would definitely not rate Cotton and Lokesak as cannon-carriers, which is needed for outfield at the D1 level. But, they do everything else VERY well and are great athletes. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out. Again, give CovCath the slight edge at this time and good luck to the Blue Colonels.
  17. Bryan Station would be an obvious sleeper choice to me with their near upset of Highlands at Highlands last year.
  18. I did not say Lokesak and Cotton at the D1 level in baseball although there is a possibility it could occur. I'm just talking pure athletic ability and speed is a big component of pure athleticism.
  19. I second the motion, your honor. And, the Nutini shellacking was of the wooden bat variety.
  20. I would agree with this. Line em up and I'll take Lokesak. He looks like a rocket got fired out of his rear when he runs.
  21. No way that I could ever consider Darner and Isler in the class of pure athlete compared to Lokesak and Cotton. Maile is a D-1 player OBVIOUSLY but his foot speed is average so that knocks him down in the pure athlete category in my mind. Isler's only ticket to D-1 is pitching - he lacks the speed to play anywhere else at the D-1 level. I'll stick with my boys Lokesak and Cotton although I have not seen Hunter Jones play. We may be talking semantics with pure athlete and pure baseball athlete, so my bad if I have caused any confusion from that angle. It's good to keep TOG's blood-pressure up anyway.
  22. Bottom line from this game: Although CovCath rightfully wears the favorite label in the 9th, Boone is also a good team to be reckoned with. It will not be a cakewalk for CovCath to the title. Boone has some outstanding athletes, particularly Cotton and Lokesak. I would wager to say they are the top two baseball pure athletes in NKY this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are very athletic young men and complete baseball players that will lead the Rebels this year. Both can run (extremely fast - D1 fast- I might add), throw, hit and hit with power. Boone also has a lot of good hitters besides these two and will be a tough out, so to speak, this year. If their pitching surprises and continues to be pretty good, they could steal the title from CovCath just like Ryle did a couple of years back. Congrats to Boone on the win.
  23. WOW! Great job AJ! Nonos don't come around that often except for the kid in Florida this year. Beechwood serves notice to the 9th 2nite that they are a formidable opponent on any given day.
