NCC repeating what, their runner-up finish?? The game I watched at Papa John's had Fort Campbell 21 - NCC 7 on the scoreboard with 0:00 on the clock.

Which unbeaten #1 will lose first?

Fort Campbell is going to roll right into Papa John's. A rematch with the 'Breds would be too close to call, but I like the Falcons! -

Enjoy the game with Trigg, it should be a lot of fun. Safe travels until you return home for good!! The best thing about the Falcons is we only have ten seniors on the team. Just wait until next year, as hard as it may be to imagine the Falcons will be even better. You hopefully will be able to catch all of next season - the best is yet to come!! -

Coach of the Year Candidates (statewide)
FalconBacker replied to moral victory's topic in KY Football (High School)
Coach Berner from Fort Campbell has turned what many expected as a rebuilding year into another championship run. He only has 10 seniors on his young team, but has managed to maintain a #1 ranking since the start of the year. -
Can Ft. Campbell be beaten?
FalconBacker replied to EndzoneEyeCam's topic in KY Football (High School)
No team is unbeatable, including the Falcons. The Falcons learned that hard lesson in the 2005 playoffs when they didn't take a well-coached O Cath team seriously. Micah Johnson, ('05 Kentucky Mr. Football, All-American) and other future D-1 players on that team learned some valuable life lessons the hard way compliments of O Cath. The Falcons were by far the best 2A team that year, but they allowed themselves to get caught-up in the hype and didn't focus one game at a time. The freshman players from that season are the seniors of the current team and they remember. The Falcons won't be upset in the playoffs this year and I don't think NCC will either. Both teams walked out of Papa John's on December 8, 2007 thinking - see ya next year!! The Falcons and the 'Breds 2008 - too close to call!! -

Dear FC, I respect your opinion, but the reality is the state champs are held to a higher standard than Todd County, Ft. Knox, Hancock, the list goes on. It comes with the territory, but it is the cold hard truth. I have been to every game except Union County and I have 20/20 vision. It is what it is. -

I agree, OC has caused a lot of heartache for FC in the past. We are thankful for any win against them. Winning by 20 and the defense getting a shut-out is just a little extra sweet. -

The penalty on FC's punt return for a TD was one of the few correct calls in the game, but it was a good call. The penalty was a personal foul on FC for hitting the long-snapper while he still had his head down after snapping the ball. It was the first time I have seen it called this year, but it was correct. -

I agree with your assessment on several of the penalties. Fort Campbell has not lost a game since August 31, 2007, won the championship and has been ranked #1 all this season. Everybody wants to beat the champ and everybody wants to cheer for the underdog, that is human nature. It appears on many occasions that the officials get caught up in the "helping the underdog moment" and use the flag to keep games as close as possible. The Falcons realize that it is FC against the world and I think you will see less opportunity for questionable calls in the future. I expect a lot more head-bustin' and a lot less jersey-grabbing. -

The only thing that slowed down the Falcons was the Falcon's penalties. Had it not been for the crazy amount of penalties, the score would have maybe gotten enough out of hand to invoke the mercy rule. -

This has to go directly to the Head Coach. Don't know how he can allow PT to follow an excellent season with what has happened this year. The coach needs to be one (year) and done. -
Score is closer than the game actually was. FC had a punt return for a TD and an interception return for a TD called back for penalties. I don't believe OC made it inside the Falcon 30 yard line the entire game.

Ft. Knox at Bardstown on Saturday
FalconBacker replied to jpa2825's topic in KY Football (High School)
Not even a challenge for Bardstown. This year's edition of Ft. Knox football is worse than any high school team I can remember watching. The officials need to invoke the mercy rule right from the beginning of their remaining games, no need to wait until the second half. Bardstown 48 Ft. Knox 6 -

Fort Campbell / Owensboro Catholic Predictions
FalconBacker replied to FC's topic in KY Football (High School)
I agree. I have been to all the games except with Union County and I keep expecting the other team to show-up and play, but it hasn't happened. I wonder if the Falcons are really that good or really that un-tested. I believe OC will have a decent showing, but FC will win going away. Franklin-Simpson will hopefully provide a late season gut-check prior to entering the playoffs. -
I agree, but am glad FC gets to play Franklin-Simpson prior to the playoffs. It is a game that should challenge the Falcons and get them focused so we don't have a repeat of the '05 playoffs. That team had a far too easy regular season and wasn't ready for an O Cath team that they should have beaten. 4A Franklin-Simpson will be a challenge far different from some of the cupcakes, (Ft. Knox, Todd Co., etc..), the Falcons have played this year. Just what the Falcons need to maintain focus entering the 2A playoffs.

Schedules - too hard or too weak
FalconBacker replied to KillerCats09's topic in KY Football (High School)
Too bad if Trigg doesn't remain on the schedule, it is quite a fiesty rivalry. Last year's game had ejections from both sides and both crowds extremely vocal. Happy to hear they are playing a Clarksville, TN school so the Falcons can keep the smack-talking city schools in check. Am really surprised any Clarksville school agreed to play the Falcons after they pounded two city schools during the Clarksville Jamboree in August. Never heard of Pearl Cohn and hope it doesn't happen. The school we need back on the schedule is Lone Oak. It would be the most exciting match-up in Western KY. -

You are getting home at the best time of the season. No love loss between the Falcons & Owensboro Catholic or Trigg. With two weeks to prepare, the Falcons will have everybody healthy & ready to do some head-bustin'. Have a safe trip home!! -
Sounds like Mayfield is continuing to improve.

Hancock County was a pretty scrappy team, which dominated the time of possession for the first half. FC had less then 10 offensive plays for the first half, but still led 21 - 0. FC had majority of the starters out for the 4th quarter.
