I was there for the later part of the 1st period and for the whole 2nd period. I don't recall 1 running play by their "1st team" offense. They stayed in the shotgun. The QB is big and strong and has a great arm.

New QB this year. He made a few deep completions and scrambled well. Running backs were solid. Defense impressed me most of all. Good pursuit against the run and better coverage by the DB's. Depth is going to be the biggest problem. Middlesboro seemed sleepy in the first period but came out and scored 3 times in the second period. Final score 27-7. I Think.

I was impressed by the Harlan Dragons. How bout' you guys?

The lineman that suffered a knee injury in the CG scrimmage is back. (E.D.) I understand he is about 90%. He is a very dedicated young man. I understand they have had 2 good weeks of practice and should be healthy for the grid.:thumb: I also seen the kicks at practice today. Good to see extra help.:thumb:

Also, from a former DIE HARD Trojan, Good luck Bears. I look for you guys to make a deep run in that 3A class and expect you will be fine in 5A next year. I'll be following as much as I can.

Overall I was impressed with the team last week. Offensively we should be OK with the short to mid-range passing attack. We have always been able to establish the run and this year should be no exception. Defensively we lost a couple of great seniors from the line to graduation. But, do return a few guys with a lot of experience. Hopefully we will see some "form tackling" out of those DB's. Looking forward to Thursday night to see how we measure up with the jackets. How bout' it Outlaw?

I agree 110% with your comments Outlaw. To me, football teaches life lessons such as CHARACTER, DISCIPLINE, TEAMWORK and even FAITH. These things stay with a man for his life and are invaluable. Wins are just a bonus! My comments regarding Heart were thoughts I had about a few individuals. I think heart is displayed through good and bad times and during the off-season and is a measure of a man's commitment to become better. The coach is a great man and is very good with those young men. Good Luck this year Dragons. I'll be there every play!

It would be a shame if UK does not come after this kid. I always felt they did not pay enough attention to in state FB players. Specifically in the SE part of the state! Come on UK we love you down here too!

I agree. Also, the CG D was very agressive with the Harlan QB when they were not supposed to hit the QB. Harlan's D was in the backfield many times and let the CG QB go. He would then scramble to make plays. Different outcome in a REAL game situation! I believe there are a few guys on that Harlan D that can cause some problems in the backfield.
