First, you don't know the financials of the promoter so you don't know how much of their expenses are covered by sponsors. The high schools are getting a guarantee JUST LIKE they do in the 9th region tourney. No difference. In both cases you have a private entity paying out a guarantee, fans paying more money, and the private entity assuming all risk. It's the exact same. You're rationalizing it to make one worse than the other. Schools are being smart (assuming , of course, that the guarantee is more than what they think they could make in a normal game).

WHen it comes to being "criminal" or not the arena or its size is immaterial. The school is taking a guarantee and the business that you are saying they are "colluding" with is taking all of the risk. The school wins. The business MIGHT win. It's silly to say it "should be" criminal. Schools are doing what they think they need to do in order to pay for all of the sports the school offers. The business agreement should be a non-topic. The only debate should be the quality of the event and matchups.

You still haven't explained how this is criminal. Is the 9th region tourney criminal because the arena pays the 9th region teams a flat amount and then charges fans more to get in?

Controversy in Georgia. The appeal was denied twice. However, the state board of control (or something like that) overruled the others and said the runner probably touched third so it's only fair to play another game. No video evidence. Just said "probably." Not only that but they suspended the entire crew for the rest of preseason. For what? Enforcing the rulebook. They've opened Pandora's Box.

Really simple. Both pitchers pitched well. CCH made plays. HC fell apart in one inning. TOG will correct me but I think all 3 runs scored with 2 outs in the 5th. Runner on first, wild pitch moved the runner to 2nd. France lined a single to left. LF charged in order to try to hold the runner at 3rd or throw him out at the plate. He muffed the ball and the runner scored. I think there was then a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 out. High fly ball to CF. Not sure what happened but the CF dropped it. 2 runs score. Ball game. Casteel pitched really well after the first inning. I think he only gave up 2 hits after the first. France heat was too much for the Tribe.

That's the pro rule. In high school all runners who are forced must touch the base.

Not sure about JV. Pitched about 16 varsity innings.

I think you've lost your mind on this one.Criminal? Good lord. How much do people pay for the state championship football tickets? Sweet 16 basketball tickets? What's the difference? KHSAA making the money vs a private business? This is life. Schools need money from events like these to cover costs for other sports. It's one darn game. I don't like the event because of the event as compared to "the gold ol' days" when my son played in it. However, I'm not throwing out silly pejoratives over it. Take a step back and gain some perspective here. A tragedy is someone dying. It's not paying $4 or $6 extra bucks for a game that you're under no obligation to attend.
