The Rock line is not huge with the exception of Big Thacker, they are good sized 220 - 225 range, and Cole Abney might be the strongest player in the district, 430 on bench, 335 power clean and I think a 550 squat. The line should be pretty good and with Saylor and Rowe in the backfield, teams will have to concentrate on stopping the run, and that is when Bishop can hurt you.

It looks like the Rockets numbers are up this year there were about 50 young men out for the first week of practice. Freshmen do not start until monday, don't have any idea how many freshmen will show.

The Rock opens wiyh Boyle Co. so it would be week 2.

They play Wayne Co. the second game of the year 9/4/09, I think. I don't know much about Wayne Co. but Rockcastle should be good this, that is if everyone stays healthy.

Three Rockcastle players are going to EKU camp tomorrow, Bullens, "Big" Thacker, and Abney. These three will be in the group from Rockcastle going to Hawg Heaven. I think Abney & Thacker are going to UK & WKU next week. I hope the extra work pays off, several of the boys are still hitting the weights hard.

I sure don't think anyone @ Rockcastle is underestimating Whitley Co. or anyone on the Rocket schedule this year. Rockcastle has a pretty rough schedule one or two missteps and the Rockets could be 6 & 4 very easly, I don't think they will be but they must stay focused.

He will most likely be @ gaurd on offence and @ D-end, but he will play anywhere he is ask.

School will be out tomorrow and weight lifting will be over and the kids will be on their own, I know some of the kids already have plans to start working out. The team as a whole finished very strong. Cole Abney ended up breaking three records in the weight room, bench press - 430 lbs., power clean - 335 lbs, and total weight in three lifts at 1,315 lbs., his squat was 550 lbs. and his weight was 217 & 6' 2", he has since put on about 5 more pounds and would like to add 10 more. GO ROCKETS!

I haven't heard much about spring practice, how did it go ? I know several kids are playing baseball, but they should have had a preety good group banging heads.

That isn a good point papa, if the numbers were up not so many kids would have to go both ways. I know the kids are always in great shape but a little rest sure would make a difference.

I'm not saying they are working harder than any team in the past but there is a core group, eg., Saylor, Dillingham, and Abney, that work as hard as anyone ever has in the weightroom, they are leading by example. I happen to known those three have as much heart as anyone that has ever played the game.

I really think the Rockets will surprise some people this year. The kids are really working hard in the weight room, Cole Abney is quickly becoming one of the strongest if not the strongest to play at the Rock and he is getting bigger, John Saylor is another one getting bigger and stronger as well as Dillingham. When the boys playing round ball get back to the weight room there should be alot more improvements in size and strength as well as speed.

I know the young men in Rockcastle Co. are very focused, but they know besting Bell is a large order, but they also believe they can win and you must believe before you can. LCPL Tanner Abney, USMC told his little brother, well younger brother to remember the 2001, Cov. Catholic game, no one gave the Rockets a chance except the Rockcastle players, coachs and a few parents. GO ROCKETS !!!!!!!!!!

I want to wish Greenup well and I hope they all get home safe and sound Friday night and I wish all the "Great " Greenup fans well also, it sounds like you really support your kids, over there or up there. But that said the Rockets are on a mission and it starts in Greenup County Friday night and I beleive you will see the Rockets red glare all over Greenup County Friday night. GO ROCKETS!!!!!

The Rocket "D" was the reason for the turnovers, all except the snap over the QB's head, but he would have been sacked on that play, but a sack would have been much better for Mercer Co.

The Rock "D" was awsome tonight, the seniors were good but there were a few juniors and at least one sophmore that were pretty hard tonight, Saylor, Abney and of course "The Killer".

If Mercer lacks a passing game they will be hard pressed to put up 28 pts. on the Rockcastle "D". If the Rockets hold on to the ball they win this one.

The Rockets should win their third straight.

The Rockets need to take better care of the football. These kids play as hard as ever and play with heart. They will be okay by playoff time.
