  1. I'll say it again. All of Jefferson County is open enrollment. A kid in Chickasaw Park can attend Eastern.
  2. I think a lot of Trinity's talent will come from the sophmore class; therefore, they may struggle a little bit early in the season. Thomas, Nix and Kragthorpe opught to form a formidable triple threat. By playoff time, I'm sure they will be a well oiled machine. This will be Beatty/Cov's third year in a row with a 1st year starting quarterback. The past 2 have won state. We shall see.
  3. Who knows and who cares. It's good for the school, and quite frankly all other schools in KY for them to be ranked that high. As a good friend of mine used to say, "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that ring."
  4. Even better. Pride and the Prejudiced. We better get back to the intent of the thread. Let's talk about having T and X moving somewhere else, dividing up schools, having numerous advantages, etc.
  5. I'm going to test your creativity: What is the excuse from the schools that can't beat Highlands? It can't be numbers.
  6. Now that is funny. I laughed out loud at that one. It may have to be "N" though for numbers advantage as that seems to be the one most people are concerned with this year.
  7. How many do you see at Highlands (football power), PRP, Dunbar and Lafayette (baseball powers) Holmes, Mason County, South Laurel, Ballard, Manual and PRP again (basketball powers)? It's staring to feel like the tretament Hester Prynne around here as it relates to T and X.
  8. USAToday Trinity 13th http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/football/poll/2008-super25.htm Prep Nation Trinity 14th St. X 21st http://prepnation.com/poll/poll.cfm?poll=1&year=2008&week=18 Calpreps Trinity 14th St. X 35th http://calpreps.com/2008/polls_view.htm Max Preps Trinity 16th http://www.maxpreps.com/national/football/rankings.aspx?gendersport=boys,football&urpath=,list ESPN Trinity 25th St. X 35th http://sports.espn.go.com/highschool/rise/football/news/story?id=3770070 Rivals Trinity 43rd St. X 54th http://highschool.rivals.com/viewrankhs.asp?ra_key=457 Congrats to both schools. :thumb:
  9. Nice write up for the Birds. As I was reading that, I made the comment that you could substitute Trinity in for Highlands and the article would be apropos. I bet that is the case for the majority of successful teams in the Commonwealth.
  10. They said the same thing at Boyle.
  11. I don't think any of those schools are in 6A. Why don't they win state in their respective divisions? They are competing against their peers enrollment wise, correct? Well, that's not correct as it relates to Highlands. So they have a numbers advantage but can't seem to get over the hump. Cov had limited success at his prior school. I think it would be akin to instituting a spread offense at Belfry. You may want to check Beatty's record at his previous school. I believe everyone agrees that a larger pool helps. Since we want to be as forthright as possible, let's not forget about Tamme, Overstreet, B. Leffew and T. Leffew during Boyle's magical run. All played D-I and a few are/were in the NFL. More importantly, lets not forget about a gentleman named Chuck Smith. Boyle had great players and a great coach. Do T and X make 6A a bore or is it someone/something else??? CBS, Maxpreps, PrepNation, USAToday and 39,000 people seem to be fairly intrigued by the schools.
  12. Great post. Trinity does the same thing in its program.
  13. Sorry Ox. I was just going on the past 30 champions (1979-2008). If we want to go to 31, then you are definitely correct. I think Mayfield gets another one as well.
  14. Last 30 years 14 - Trinity (Louisville) (1980, 1983, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1994, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) 11 - Highlands (1981, 1982, 1989, 1992, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2008) 11 - Beechwood (1984, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2005, 2008) 9 - Danville (1984, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994, 2000, 2001, 2003) 6 - St. Xavier (1986, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2004) 6 - Covington Catholic (1987, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2006)
  15. I'm sure Dale/A.D. had good reason for it, but as the superior team, I don't see much benefit in playing a lesser opponent twice in the regular season. I was told they are games 1 and 10. Is that correct as well?
  16. I had a NKY gentlemen tell me Saturday that evening that HHS is playing Ryle twice next year. I laughed it off, but it appears some others heard the same thing. Is this true?
  17. 2004 was a second round defeat.
  18. He came in 2000. He's won 7 titles and has 1 runner-up. He is 40-2 in the playoffs.
  19. Is he going to play college ball? He was one of the best players I saw all weekend.
  20. Is the safety back for HHS? I thought he played a heck of a game.
  21. In light of the uproar caused by Trinity Fans I, let me offer the following: This post depicts a sweatshirt that has 19 state titles on it. If that is viewed as demeaning to all of the runner-ups those 19 years, please don't scroll down. State Gear.
  22. They played great last night, but the opposition is the other half. Remember the 76-0 game against J-Town? I would probably vote Elder given the quality of opponent.
