If McCune shows up and plays to her potential then it will be a tough win for the Valkyries. It's all about match ups and this will be a tough one for SHA. If Sacred Heart's shooting stays hot, then they could overcome other deficiencies and pull out a win. The 3 ball is a great weapon.

I don't really care if kids move to other schools after playing as 8th graders or as 9th-11th graders. Q Snyder started his high school career as an 8th grader playing for Fern Creek. He played for Ballard from his freshman year until graduation. Kentucky needs to change the rules to equal the playing field by letting kids go where ever they can be accepted.

Should be a fun game to watch this Saturday, with both teams coming off wins.

You are exactly on target. Sacred Heart lost one game of their three losses to a Kentucky team. The other two losses to very good teams in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. They also won the titans classic by beating Mercer County on their home floor.

I doubt the top two change this year. They are head and shoulders better than the rest.

HC is better than average having some good talent on the floor, but I think Highlands is a better at playing together as a team. If Highlands is at full strength when they play HC, I think Highlands wins that game.

Except that you have to play your district opponents every year, whether the game is competitive or not.

Boyle was very competitive at the Titans Clash holiday tourney over the Christmas break against everyone, but Mercer County. Mercer blew them out 79-43, but you never know come regional tourney time.

Sure looks like it. They will be a tough out for Butler or E'town.

Well it's Mercer's holiday tournament, so I'm sure the bracketing favored them. Robins got into early foul trouble, which kept her on the bench for some time. She was also guarded by the Valkyries best defender (Silvils), who did a good job on her. For the most part SHA didn't have any trouble with the full court press or the zone traps, which many times lead to easy baskets or open threes. They had some turnovers, but all in all handled the pressure pretty well. SHA shot 55% from the three in the first half and 48% for the game going for 11/23. When firing on all cylinders, SHA can shoot the ball really well. They have multiple players that are high percentage shooters. SHA is tough to press because they have good ball handlers. Grace Berger is very skilled with the ball and is tall enough to throw over the top of the traps when they come. If Mercer doesn't turn you over it leads to open looks. This was an exciting game to watch because both teams have so much young talent on the floor. The pace of the game was fast making it very entertaining. These will be top teams in the state for the next couple of years because most of the players are sophomores and freshman, so I'm sure they will have some other good battles between these programs over the next 2 1/2 years. (maybe as soon as the upcoming LIT) Good luck for the rest of the year to two good programs with quality kids.

If my daughter had an opportunity to get an education for free at Notre Dame compared to U of L or UK, it's a no brainer.

As I've watched games in different regions, it seems the way the games are officiated vary greatly from region to region. Does each region have a different understanding of the emphasis that they place on calling the game? How do you prefer the game to be officiated? Call every tick tack foul or let them play, so the game has some flow? Do they call boys games differently than girls games?

Daijai Ruffin (SHA 2014) is having an awesome year as a redshirt freshman at UT Martin. They play the U of L Cardinals today at the YUM center.

There's a reason why Boley is signed with Notre Dame. She is without question the best player in Kentucky and one of the best in the USA. If she doesn't win Miss Basketball, then the award is a sham.

I don't want to take anything away from any of these girls, but how many points would Grigsby have scored if she played 6 years of ball? Nothing more to add other than comparing apples to apples. Creech is quite the player.

Have to give Mercy some props. I thought I remembered reading that in the paper, but didn't see it listed on here or Riherds.

If you look at years playing varsity, then I think Grigsby is more impressive than the rest on the list.
