The Kentucky girls basketball Maher Rankings have been posted for first time in the 2015-16 season. This is our first year for girls basketball, so go easy on us, but let us know what you think. Also, keep an eye out for any errors, this being our first post.

 

The Maher Rankings have been ranking Kentucky soccer for 5 years, Ohio soccer for 3, and Kentucky boys basketball for 2 years, and has been featured in the Louisville Courier Journal and the Lexington Herald Leader.

Shelby beat Anderson 15, Allen Co Scottsville lost to PRP, none of it matters really, on any given night people lose, you dont know why they lose, people hurt, or suspended, tons of different things

These rankings are really sensitive to strength of schedule.

IMO...

MASON COUNTY is better than 13th but their schedule was very weak until the LexCath tourney. And.... it isn't exactly strong the rest of the way. I don't think they're going to have a problem getting out of the 10th region but we'll see if the scheduling hurts them.

EASTERN is a very talented team and should be top 5 with the wins against Mercy, Sacred Heart and Ryle. The problem is they have some easy W's on their schedule too and this team needs as many tough games as possible.

RYLE and MERCY are both really good teams. But I don't think either deserves to be in the top 10. They have just lost too many games at this point.

Ryle on the Maher list at #22 but listed with the #1 most difficult schedule in the state.

Exactly! This is why you would have to take the sum total of all the performances of a given team to determine their proper rating, averaging out all the ups and downs, and accounting for any actual changes in performance as the season goes. Of course to evaluate any given performance, you have to have an estimate of the quality of the opponent. To do that you have to take the sum total of all the performances of the opponents to determine their rating, etc. You kind of need a computer for that!

Mason has played Murray, Butler, Ryle and East Carter. Play Holmes, Campbell, Clark, Simon Kenton, Henry Clay and Highlands. Yea, easy, right?
