The plot thickens. I can assure you, Coach Thomas from C-ville was not in the mix. And for the record, a lot of those small colleges have coaches that have worked their way up the ranks from high school. Like Cronin and Thomas both did.

Everyone is still waiting. I bet it won't be too long though. Some have said by the end of the day. I'm not sure. It may take until Wednesday, but that is just my speculation, from how long it really took to get the ball rolling.

This may better be argued after the upcoming season....like for instance, what if Madison Southern's hire goes 7-3 in the regular season....now that would be a great pick!!!

So, which is easier to tolerate...jawing from the head man, or from the assistants. I personally have taken the approach of letting my assistants doing the complaining, and reeling them in when it was too far.

Well, I guess it all boils down to this weekend. I think that is when they are interviewing...just what has seemingly been reported here. Lots of quality names. 18.8, while not good, is manageable...your goal should be to at least score 3 or 4 TD's a game....but man, 38.2 ppg....that is TERRIBLE

Well Slappy, you and CrumJr seem to know Brumley pretty well. What do you think he will run if he was at the helm. Or, for others, if you were at the helm, what system do you think would be the best for southern....it will be like our own mini interview question...

That kinda sucks for some of these guys that are coaching at BIG schools right now as an assistant. How else is a guy supposed to get involved in being a head coach? I see that as a mistake, to just rule that out on that one criteria....shoot, what about Dave Campbell??? He was "just" an assistance at Georgetown College...would that not be enough experience?

I'd agree that they didn't have the right type of kids...but I see the fault was in the offense's scheme. That variation of the spread, looks great on paper, that can never be argued, but when you don't have the horses to pull it, why keep beating them into the ground with it. Whoever takes over, should definitely reevaluate their kids and find something that suites them better.

Crum Jr., So do you feel Brumley is a better "player's coach" that will get those athletes out there?

I would have to agree that Perry would be a good one. Having played against Garrard during his tenure, the name "Garrard County" use to carry a lot more meaning. You knew you were going into a den and would have to fight your way out. They've lost that edge, and definitely need to restore that.

I guess now, they will need to look for the next head coach. Leadership stability could be an issue with this team with their last coach apparently headed to Rowan. Speed is the great equalizer though. Glad to hear they've got that going for them.

Glad to hear Campbellsville getting some attention on here. I have some personal, but distant ties to the program, and got to watch them in a thriller against Williamsburg. I see them making it to the regional championship again, but this time it might be a different story agasint Hazard. They lost only one really key player. Good size line comes back, and should be bigger and stronger. The only real question mark would be at RB. But they had a sophmore that was a backup and he is a man child. He just needs to mature to catch up with that body. Then if he can establish himself as a productive player....look out, C-Ville may make another big run.

Leo, I understand you point. The older I get, the more idealistic I get. Maybe I've watched too many "Gridiron Gang" and "Necessary Roughness" esque movies...I don't know. I've always felt that with the RIGHT guy anything is possible anywhere. Honestly, I think that a place like Southern would not be the match for just a "GOOD COACH." There's probably tons of good coaches in the state. Probably a good amount haven't had success at one spot, but have at others. I think chemistry really comes into play. Whoever Southern gets, needs to find that spark to ignite change. If they find the right fit, I think Southern could be successful, even in that killer district/region. Then that guy will have to build a strong staff of like-minded guys that fill the same niche. All schools are like microcosms...just got to find the right fit for the specific need.

According to the Scott thread, Campbell has excepted the position at Scott. Has he pulled his name off the interview list??

Do we have an official confirmation on Campbell?? I've read on the Madison Southern thread that interviews were starting Feb.9th...wasn't he one of the ones that was supposed to be interviewing for that spot? Has he withdrawn from that one?

Just curious, why do you think no big name will take it??? Lack of tradition?? Basically only 2 really good seasons?? Player issues leftover from previous season??
