What kind of football players are Grant Co kids? Are they tough, hard nosed kids who like to hit? Do they speed and athleticism to be a spread, passing attack type of team? What kind of team would a new coach inherit when he gets hired? It seems like they were pretty young this past year? If you were the next coach, what style of play would benefit their talent level?

Name a Highlands guy who is a successful coach? Jeff Barth is doing well. Looks like a fine young coach who is off to a good start to his career. And, regardless of how you feel about Highlands, Tom Spritsky has been a great high school football coach. The wins are one thing, and he has a lot of them, but if you know Tom, what he has done in terms of the development of young people has been Hall of Fame-like. He makes those kids feel so good about themselves every year and he convinces his players they CAN beat Highlands....or any other team for that matter. Thats what a good coach does. He/she has the ability to make their players believe they can achieve at the highest level. I can tell you this. There are not many coaches in the state of Ky that stand in front of their team that say "gentlemen, we can beat Highlands", who don't get smiles, smirks, and comments like, What is coach smokin? Tom is a great for the profession and great for young people. He's a class guy who will always make you proud to call him your friend, or your coach. Just because his record vs. the birds is not great, its not fair to consider him a weak coach. If every head coach was judged by their record against Highlands, a lot of good men would get fired year after year. Tom Spritsky is a great guy. He demonstrates to all his community why its important to conduct themselves with class and character at all times. Tom "walks the walk". He expects his kids to play with class, but more importantly, he models that behavior everyday of his life.....as a father, coach, husband, asst. principal, and as a man. Anyone who thinks Tom Spritsky should lose his job should have themselves tested.

Its that time of the year when new jobs are starting to open up for next season. Any openings that you know of yet?

Having a stadium on campus is huge in terms of having a winning football program. I know this would be an economical type decision, but if they truly care about football, they would build a stadium on campus. Getting on a bus to go to home games is very difficult for the players and coaches. Its just like playing 10 straight away games. The stadium should be the focal point of a high school campus. I know CC players don't get to practice on the field they play their games on. And thats really sad. I do think if the private sector got involved, Campbell Co would raise all the $ and they would have a stadium on campus very quickly. Its a beautiful campus out there in Alex. and a new, high tech stadium would really make CC a first class facility. Just my thoughts.

Steve Bailey and the freshman staff have done an unbelievable job with this Camel freshman team. Steve brings a very passionate, very intense approach to how he coaches and the kids have really responded to him and they play extremely hard. I have always believed that in terms of their coaches, "kids don't care what you know until they know that you care." The kids at Campbell know that Steve cares about them first and foremost. As a result, they play for him and they have a great thing going. The other thing that people don't know is that Steve has been a varsity asst. and this year was asked to move down to the freshman level basically because they didn't have anyone else. Like the guy he is, Steve did what was best for the team and "unselfishly" moved down to the freshman level and poured his energy into it. He's a great guy and a great coach. Keep it up Camels.

I know it sounds crazy, but I really think Campbell will be in the top 10 and in the playoffs at the end of the year. They really do have some talent.

I agree Tressel. This guy will be gone in two years. He may be a great coach and a great guy, only time will tell. But everything in his history demonstrates he likes to "move on" every year or two. That would be my concern as a Bellevue fan. Just look at his resume. He's been all over the place in a short period of time. I hope I'm wrong.
