  1. Here we go, for anyone that can't spot a true Highlands fan, here you go... Highlands fans get mad when someone talks about someone else being good. Here's a news flash, yes, Highlands is good, and you guys have a great program and tradition, and you love to tell people about it. Take BGP for example, if there is a thread on here that talks about a team having a good year, there will be quality conversation, then you'll see a post saying, "But What about the 'Birds?" This may come as a shock to people outside of Ft. Thomas, but people outside of Ft. Thomas don't want to hear about Highlands High School. The reason you guys have a tough time scheduling is not that you win games, but the way you win. I, personally, am a Dixie Fan, and I can probably count on 2 hands the number of times I've seen Dixie and Highlands play where the game is out of reach, Dixie starts to pull starters, and then wham.... Dale throws in the old reverse pass for an 80 yard TD, to make the margin of victory 41, instead of 34. If that makes Dale feel better about himself, then so be it. I will give Highlands credit. They have a great, great program. Their history speaks for its self, and it is remarkable that they continue to reload year in and year out. And some of the negative thoughts that people have against Highlands does come from jealously, because the goal of every kid in the state is to play for a state title, and Highlands makes that the rule, versus the exception year in and year out. But the real hatred towards Highlands is more about the way they win. It is one thing to beat your opponent, and a completely different one to demoralize them. This is the reason Highlands get to enjoy those long roadtrips, while the rest of NKY fans are home before 11. OK, now bring on the bashing.
  2. Now remember that I am a Dixie fan when I say this....... I remember Dixie getting smeared by Highlands. Dixie scored and had the ball at the end of the second quarter with an opportunity to tie the game, but then let Highlands up the sidelines for a big gain, and Highlands continued that momentum into the second half.
  3. Dixie beat CCH in their first meeting 44-28, which means that CCH would have to make up 16 points to beat Dixie. As far as records go, I can see your point that CCH played a rather tough schedule, so let's look at the head-to-head matchup, which Dixie won rather comfortably. So I can see why you think CCH will have such an easy time with Dixie.
  4. I guess Dixie shouldn't even show up. This is a very intimidating CovCath team, based on the fact that Dixie waxed them the first time they played, and the very impressive 4-6 record. I know both teams are much improved, but I think CCH has too much ground to make up to win this one.
  5. Yea, you're right. Boston won the World Series with a .400 winning % in the regular season. CovCath was a great team last year, and yes they are improved, but Dixie is the better team on paper, and on the field, which they've proven once already.
  6. Dixie didn't start becoming a regular in the playoffs since 1998. Also, please remember that for a long time only 2 teams from each disctrict went to the playoffs.
  7. Based on what most of the CCH supporters are saying, I guess Dixie should just stay at home, and not even show up, because of all these new "weapons" that CovCath has. I will agree that CovCath has improved, but I still like Dixie in this one. Think about all those sad blue faces Friday night when they watch their beloved Blue Colonels lose to Dixie for the SECOND time in one season.
  8. Without a doubt the Colonels are rolling right now, and hopefully takes some of that momentum into the playoffs.
  9. Let's keep in mind that the first time these two met, CovCath only had success moving the ball through the air, and Dixie now has two new corners, and is playing much better defensively. Aside from the fact that Dixie scored 44 points, and kicked three field goals, which if they had made it in the endzone each time, it would have been an even bigger blowout. I say Dixie wins 41-14.
  10. Dixie was the better team in the begining of the year, and I believe that still to be true. Both teams are peaking at the right time, I just find it hard to believe that CovCath has made up 20+ points of ground on Dixie, even with the addition of Buckley.
  11. Big disagreement with you on this one. I strongly believe that Joe Frank and his crew are the best officials in NKY, and that the game last night was officiated rather well. I will give you that the non-pass interference call on EJ was a close one, but let's be honest, they cound't guard him all night and it wouldn't have mattered any way. Officiating is a nice scape goat for a team that got smoked.
  12. The seniors have been looking forward to what exactly? Senior night, or a shot at Dixie?
  13. The ball is dead where Mason County touched it. You can't advance a recovered kickoff. That is only in the NFL.
  14. I agree. Other than those four, it's hard to argue the "elite" status of anyone else in NKY.
  15. I agree. Dixie has been rolling, and I think the Colonels win by 2+ TD's. Nothing against Campbell, but I think Dixie has been pretty tough lately.
  16. Dixie is arguably one of the hottest teams in NKY right now. They lost to a very good Boone squad, plastered Scott, and Hammered (to everyone's surprise) Ryle. I think they're heading in the right direction at the right time. The goal for Friday night @ Campbell is not only win, but come away healthy, and get ready to go to work for CovCath. For Dixie fans, the only thing better than beating CovCath, is beating them twice. As for being an elite team, I think that until you win a State Championship you shouldn't be considered an elite team.
  17. HUGE WIN!!! Which I'll bet you find surprising, nees, since Dixie didn't "need" to win. Great win by the Colonels. All facets of the game were clicking in the second half.
  18. Just wanted to see everyone's thoughts. Personally, I think Boone is the most dynamic team in NKY. They are just a polished group, and are hard to stop.
  19. Dixie is 4-4. Wins Simon Conner CovCath Scott Losses Highlands Holmes Beechwood Boone
  20. Looking at the schedules I think Simon is locked at the Four spot, and if Ryle wins against Dixie, then it's all she wrote, and it will be Boone, Ryle, Campbell, and Simon. Personally, I think Dixie will beat Ryle, and Campbell will beat NCC, leaving the final week to be the deciding factor.
  21. I think this one will be a shootout. Campbell - 41 NCC - 38
  22. Nobody really thought Scott would win did they???
  23. No harm, no foul.... ANyways, my prediction is Ryle 20 Dixie 24
  24. No. I think High School sports are about a lot of things. They teach you how to be a man (or woman), and have some accountability to your teammates, coaches, and fans. But one of the best things about these sports, specifically team sports, is working together with your teammates towards a common goal, and the satisfaction of achieving those goals. Now, goals for each team may differ from school to school, but I can tell you Friday night, the only team goal that Dixie will have is to beat Ryle, and if they achieve that goal, they will reap the benefits of working together as a team, which includes holding your head high whenever you are out for the next 12 months and you see a Ryle player in a letter jacket. High School sports isn't just about bragging rights and pride, but those things are the byproducts of working together towards a single goal.
  25. I respectfully disagree with your last statement. High School athletes are judged between themselves based on what you've done, and whom you've beaten. I will agree that the next two games have no affect on the playoff status of Dixe's season, but teams should always go into every game viewing that game as the most important game of the season, because for those next 3 hours or so an entire years' worth of bragging rights are on the line, and don't think for one minute that is not important to those kids.
