Class doesn't make a difference ? In football size usually does matter. 1. It matters when its hot, and the 6a program has kids only playing 1 side of the ball. 2. It matters in controlling the line of scrimmage when the 6a average weight is usually much greater the 1A school. The teams mentioned above are an exceptional group.

Boone Co 28 Mason Co 18

14-3 at the half. Before the 21-3 Boone Co. score in the 3rd., the Royals gave the ball up 3 TIMES, deep in Boone Co. territory. 1. INT. 2. Fumble 3. Turn over on downs This was a good game. If anything the score seems a little deceptive in Boone Co.'s favor. :sssh: -

Mason Co.'s numbers aren't to bad against a 6A school !:thumb: The offense is gaining more experience and moving the ball well. -
Scott County Schedule, etc.

These young Royals " will " put up a fight !:ylsuper: Nothing to loose......except the game ! Scott Co. thrives on turn overs. If anything ,these Royals will ( should ) be able able to handle the ball. It's a matter of knocking down shots and Scott Co. missing more than a few. Easier said then done though.......... -
That is a good example, or maybe not....Look at what he had to accomplish to get noticed and he was a skill player. I'm sure there are many big lineman in the mountains that never received any major city press and were just passed over. Just to be honest if I was a scout, I would stay near the bigger schools were you could get a good look at more than a few D-1 prospects in the same game compared to maybe 1 or 2 at a smaller school. Then calculate maybe 2+ hour drive from Lex. one way. Considering all that do you still feel those young men are getting a fair shake?

Just curious, what's the difference in student enrollment between these 2 schools? -
I think they will, but they played the Royals really tough last year then struggled.

Can anyone beat Holmes and Scott County?
mortgagegeek replied to h-dothework-c's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
And we want our soup back ! -
36-0 Highland Blue Birds win.
-
They did that to seemingly every team in the country that year. Holmes didn't win our state title that year. Also they usually aren't one of our typical top notch teams. What happened when Mayo and the #1 team in the country played Scott Co. ? ( They split. ) Both games were very close. Thats no fluke.
-
Holmes is very good but they usually don't play any of this states powers let alone out of state. They did make it to the state finals this past year and will be tough to be beat this coming year. The teams that do play powers out of state usually are Scott Co., Lex. Cath. and Mason Co. They seem to have held their own and represented Kentucky very well over the years. :flame: Also we have more than a few teams within Kentucky that give the 3 mentioned above good games and hand out a few loses through out the year. Kentucky basketball is better than the national polls suggest.
-
We would do better than hold our own if we took Elliott Co., GRC., June Buc., Mason Co. and put them in the Ohio Div. for public schools with the same enrollment. :scared: I can probably add a few more, but its early for me and I am only on my first coffee cup ! :jump:

I say 38-12. Mason Co. wins.

I pick the Camels in this, and later in the season.:thumb:

These young Royals will not go against lineman of this caliber the rest of the way. Good job, you did great.:flame:

Montgomery County/Mason County Scrimmage
mortgagegeek replied to sackmaster's topic in KY Football (High School)
So, how was the scrimmage ? -
Russell had a hard time stopping Mason Co. in the air last year. The Royals have actually improved in that area this year. Has Russell improved at the DB position?

Who are the best freshmen and sophomores in 08
mortgagegeek replied to Uncle Rico's topic in KY Football (High School)
Mason Co. has soph. QB that should turn some heads. He filed in a game or 2 last year and looked pretty good. Gets the starting job this year. Should be fun to say the least ! -
MC ( is ) better than last year. I can't wait to watch them. Just about the same feeling before the 2002 season when Grutza was a soph. The Royals will be fun to watch.
