  1. Well said my friend.... However, Army won't hang with Navy if they play like they did last week at AF.
  2. Could Hazard be a legit contender for the class A state championship?
  3. Wow... anyone else shocked that this game is getting out of hand the way that it is?
  4. Sorry about that super... We posted at the same time.
  5. Boyle Co 14, Dunbar 14 - End of the 3rd quarter. Dunbar has about 125 yards offense in the third quarter after having only 95 in the first half. They went for it twice on 4th down their last drive. Biggest difference is that Dunbar hasn't turned the ball over this half after putting it on the ground more times than I can count the first half. Should be a good finish.
  6. I think it is red light #12 in case you get confused. (everyone loves that new fancy system)
  7. I agree. I knew you weren't posting for or against anybody. I was just explaining why I didn't expect Harlan to loose anyone AT FIRST. I wasn't trying to be argumentative LB... :thumb:
  8. I agree with you for the most part. However, I don't think too many parents really decide where they are going to send their kids based solely on athletics. While every parent would like to see their child succeed in all that they do, the reason that the Harlan has "made their living" off of the county is based mainly on academics. I know that there are some exceptions (Charles Thomas in the 90’s, etc). Most parents know when they send their kid to a small school there is a less likely chance that he/she will be on state championship team’s every year. However, not too often in Harlan County do parents have to worry about their D-1 child getting the publicity that comes with being on a good team. You could probably count the kids in Harlan County who have gone D1 (in all three major sports) since 1990 on your fingers and toes. With that being said, I don't think that Harlan Ind. will loose many students to the new school unless (and I emphasize UNLESS) the county can equal or pass Harlan's average ACT, SAT, and CATS scores. Would I like to see the county schools raise the bar academically? YES. If it means that Harlan looses athletes to HCHS for academic reasons, then that means that more children in Harlan County are getting a better opportunity to be successful in the future. Make no mistake; the Harlan County School system has made BIG strides on the academic side of the ball recently. In the lower grades some of them have even surpassed Harlan Ind. However, Harlan High is still in the top 10% of schools in KY every year and the county is far from that. I think that combining the schools will only help to raise the academic bar even more for the county. However, they are still a long way off from equaling Harlan Ind statistically (which is what I think will continue to encourage parents to bring their kids to Harlan from the county). I feel this way because that is the reason that my parents opted to send me and my siblings to Harlan. Did we all play sports while we were there? Of course we did. All of us played football for four years and we helped contribute to some of the successful seasons that Harlan had while we were there. I personally feel like Harlan gave me a step up on academics. Does that mean that I think Harlan, and therefore Harlan students, are better than those from the county? Heck NO. I know many of my friends that went to Cawood, Evarts and Cumberland who are much smarter than I am. I think that a good education can be found anywhere that a student seeks it out. However, at Harlan, many times a good education was forced down my throat whether I liked it or not. Either I did the work, and studied, or I failed. It was that simple. I know there are teachers like that everywhere. I also think that consolidating will boost this same “philosophy” in the county because having one administration to control (and therefore emphasize this philosophy) is much easier than having three from a leadership perspective. Therefore I don’t think Harlan will loose many students to the new high school until people can see that the new high school has made progress equal to that of Harlan’s. Disclaimer: (This post is not meant to offend anyone. It is not an insult to any school system. If anything I am trying to say that the county is headed in the right direction.)
  9. Keep your head up man. As HDE said, you played one heck of a game last week. Just have fun and remember that in football, and in life, play to win all the time. Don't settle for moral victories, you all are still better than that. I have faith in you.
  10. I know this is completely off topic (football thread, basketball question), but when will they host the basketball regional at the new school?
  11. I have to agree, this is out of control. I know that Tuck and the Saylor's at the central office know each other very well, but this would be a mistake. I don't see how you can say that JB Donahue and Hensley are not good enough for the job but Tuck is?
  12. By the "Sunshine State" coach, do you mean former Hazard Coach Mo Dixon? Isn't one of the Woolum kids from Pineville coaching down there now also?
  13. Beechwood -5 Belfry-3 Calloway Co. -3 Hazard-1 Mayfield-1 Marion Co.-1 Woodford Co-1 Male-1 Bardstown -1 Madison Central -1 TB.. 52
  14. Lynn Camp will have to throw the ball a little more than the usual HB Pass to keep Middlesboro from stacking the front even more than they usually do. With that being said, I don't see Lynn Camp opening it up. It will be very close because of LC's defense but M-boro will pull it out IMO. M-Boro=21 LC=14
  15. UGLY... That is the only word that comes to mind. Trinity-49 Lafayette-3
  16. Bell will name the score on Tates Creek. I don't care where it is played. I will also be willing to put my neck out there and say that if "Ty" runs for 300 yards against Bell Co., then Coach Hilton will have a heart attack on the sideline. In the words of Lee Corso "Not even close my friend."
  17. I think Hazard probably didn't play their best game last week against Lynn Camp. I know that they will be ready to go in this one. Should be a shoot out. Hazard 49 LCA 42
  18. When will the new school be able to start funding the athletic facilities? Last I heard, the only facility that will be there next year is the gym (and it will be without seats). Does anyone else think that a new school playing home games at three different location is going to be kind of disadvantage? Also, where are they planning on practicing? And the biggest question of them all... is there any word on the new coach?
  19. Impressive job by Lynn Camp. Without their star player they held one of the better offenses around to 17 points. One can only wonder how much different this game would've been with Roskpof (Sp?)...
  20. Hazard might be the quickest, most athletic single A team I have seen in a while. Even though it is at Lynn Camp, I am going to take hazard by 2 TD's.
  21. South Carolina -5 Florida-3 USC-3 Penn St-1 West Va. -1 Texas Tech-1 Cal-1 Washington-1 Clemson-1 Louisville-1 TB-34
  22. Well we will only have to worry about one of those teams if we win out. One of them will finsih with atleast three SEC losses because they still have to play each other...
