How many teams have won the All A playing zone? Or even a state championship? The good teams play man for a huge majority of the time!

Read two sentences later that you didn't bold. I was giving you that good coaches adjust. If Coach Stamm is a good coach, he will adjust. I don't know Coach Stamm. I have only seen them in two games. The first game was Brossart and he coached a good game. They other was Dixie. I haven't even lived down here a full season. I just know from past experiences, especially with a month left that good teams will adjust because of coaching.

Ok, I can't win with you even with the PM's sent. It really wasn't a shot, and sorry you take it that way. I know who is on their schedule, we have discussed that (check your PM's). I don't think they are as good as those 3 good teams left on their schedule. However, like I mentioned in my posting I think there is enough time for a good coach to get ready for the REAL postseason. That isn't a shot. Or at least it wasn't at all meant to be. Good coaches adjust. Good teams adjust. I do not deny that their is talent there. I never said I could do better either! I am sly, but not always devilish!!!!!

Wow, before I was being sarcastic and people misread it, this time I was being genuine and people misread it! Their schedule is made for a lot of wins. I know some of them are games that are set because of the NKAC III. when I said: "ludlow still has a lot of games left and time to get ready for the REAL postseason" I meant just that. Even thought they didn't win the All A or whatever, it isn't the end of the world! They still have time to get ready for Districts (which they SHOULD win), and then go from there. And then I go on to say: "They have a lot of pieces of the puzzle that most schools would love to have. Now it comes down to coaching and the true test in talent!". How is that a bash? If he is as good as you claim, which I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, he still has time to get it ready for REAL postseason success. Their guard is pretty good, and they have 3 posts that teams would love to have!!!!! I was actually trying to be positive here......sheesh, lighten up some...

First congrats to NCC for winning the game you were supposed to win. That isn't always an easy thing to do! Good luck in the finals tonight, should be the champion! And I'm NOT going to play the "I told you so" card about Ludlow! Tempting though...but Ludlow still has a lot of games left and time to get ready for the REAL postseason (although their schedule is built for a lot of wins, not necessarily for getting a team ready for the big dogs)! They have a lot of pieces of the puzzle that most schools would love to have. Now it comes down to coaching and the true test in talent!

MY BAD .....I know nothing of previous years except what I have learned going to games and chatting with the locals.....I see where the excitement and optimism is stemming from now!

Maybe it was a pride issue, but I know when I played I was a senior who scored over 1,000 points. It was late in the year and I had suffered a concussion and wasn't feeling very good (but wanted to play). There was 4.8 seconds left in the game and my coach called for me to go in. I thought if he wanted me on the floor, he would have put me in earlier than now..... and ever since that day, even if it was a starter or a bench player, I will not ever put a player in if they can't do something to contribute. If it is substituting out a player for a great game, I will go with a player that has already been in or something like that. But I am not a fan of someone being put in for meaningless seconds......but that is just me. Sounds like some agree, and others have some very valid points! Thanks!!!! Not to butt heads again, but I thought Ludlow lost to Scott on 12/3 55-41 and lost to Dixie 12/21 61-55. If this is false, it changes my perspective some on Ludlow.......

When coaches put the time in over the summer time to do camps and work fundamentals and then develop a kid that their freshmen year wasn't very good, and then progresses over time, I consider this a good coach. When a freshmen comes in and instantly obtains double doubles (which I heard Daughtery did as a freshmen), then the coach was lucky to get that player. That is what I was saying. And maybe with some of the other players Coach Stamm has done that. I don't know. I do know that having her and the other two big girls is a huge advantage over the other small schools. (a good problem to have ) Someone was telling me about how Calvary had a few big girls a couple years back and rolled over teams. It wasn't the coaching, it was the talented player that came through at the time. When they graduated, the wins left also.... As far as a top notch program, I am new to this whole district/region/all a thing. I consider NKY as an area. I don't know any of the boundaries or whatever. Since they are all considered the same class (where Ohio has 4 classes), I don't consider Ludlow an upper level team. They wouldn't beat Boone, NDA, Highlands, and so forth IMO....... And my folding chair comment was a slang that myself and my fellow colleagues used to call when a team when beat another team by 20 + points. Just a phrase. The team would have won no matter if the coaches were there or not.....

I don't know about last year. I am retired from coaching and I have had some players that went on to DI and DII programs. Those players made me look great. I can't lie. I taught them the game from my perspective and they helped my teams win a lot of games. After they were gone, I was doing the same things and losing. I went from looking like a genius, to looking like a fool. Meanwhile I was doing the same things. Anybody that has a girl as good as her walk in your gym can help refine their skills, but you aren't making them good. They were that before hand! And I think the Clary girl is the one I like on the team the most! She has the DI body and potential! The greatest things about opinions, is that they are just opinions. I don't know that I see Ludlow being an upper level team yet. For the good news and hope for all the little schools I hope so! Once they win the All A, or do well in it, I will change my tune! And eat crow

Thanks for recognizing my weird sense of humor. I really don't have a problem with Ludlow or Coach Stamm. I actually like the small town community success story, and pull for them. I do get tired of hearing how great they are and how they are rolling teams. When in reality, they SHOULD be rolling those teams and against those teams a folding chair could coach them and win (no disrespect to Coach Stamm here). IMO a team that has Daughtery and the other two 6'2" girls should win a lot of games. His coaching didnt make Daughtery that good, she was born skilled. And we all know you can't coach height. So yes, they were sarcastic. Sorry it was the whole Peyton Manning thing.....you see him on every commercial so you start getting a sour taste. I do wish Ludlow luck in the All A against the private schools!!!! But I do still think they need to beat some tougher opponents before I jump on everyone elses bandwagon about how great they are.....

So is that a KY thing? In ohio if you are on the roster, you get a varsity letter no matter what kind of time you play.....that is interesting! Or at least the at the 2 different schools I coached at (school policy, not mine).....

To spin off of the substitution thread going, I made a comment on there and would love some feedback in regards to it! Why do coaches put players in for the last 11 seconds (or 8, 9, you know what I mean, meaningless time)? There is no special scenario here. Game is well in hand either up a lot/down a lot. I as a coach have always believed if it more embarassing to the kid than not playing. What are they really going to do in 11 seconds? Any other thoughts?

Too many "if's" and unknowns......I would play kids time, but I can't say the bench would just automatically get all the time......I have more of a problem with coaches putting in a kids for 11 seconds at the end of the game then I do about this scenario........

I guess I missed the part in the coaches handbook that says you HAVE to play 2nd Stringers. It is up to each individual coach to coach as they seem fit. If that means play 5 kids that whole game, it is up to them. If they want to play 12 kids, it is up to them. No one is guarenteed anything other than the 5 that start the game. Again, if you don't like to lose get better. The same parents that gripe in the stands about coaches not playing their kids, are the same parents that never push their kids during the offseason to get better, but drive them to the first day of tryouts... Back to the original thread: (IMO) nothing wrong here if that is how the coach wants to do it. Five different coaches would do it five different ways!

If you don't like to lose get better......nothing wrong here in this situation! Good for Team B to use the game as a way to teach the kids to do what is expected!

Shame on you for noting including Ludlow! They are 12-3 and winning games by 20+ like no ones business. Their coach is listed on BGP as the next best thing and it isn't easy to coach a couple 6'2"ish girls when other teams are lucky to have one 5'11" girl! Go Mighty Lady Panthers!!!

Ludlow hands down. They are rolling teams by big numbers and have Coach Stamm. If what I hear and read is correct, he is the next best thing to sliced bread!

Not too sure a zone would do much good. Lloyd just isn't as good as Ludlow, or at least from what I have seen. I only watched them play Villa, but they just aren't as good. (IMO)

Coach Wright is a great coach and will have his girls prepared! SO wins this one!!!
