What about Daughtery? How did she play?

I would guess Ludlow won, but just was wondering. I can't find the score anywhere....

"Unprofessional" is the best term and way to explain it! I won't do it and expect that other coaches won't do it either. I will tape exchange, talk to other coaches, and go in person and take notes! And I would expect us as professionals to keep the integrity of the game!

Film exchange was brought up, and it is a good point. It isn't considered illegal or unethical. Just takes a little bit of work I guess. This was a good topic of discussion!!!!

If you are taping the game of your own team, then I see no problem with it. However, if I went to watch Team A and Team B play and we play both of them in the next couple weeks, I would say unethical. But really, if I went and watched a team play 5 times and write down all their plays and such, what is the difference?????? I personally wouldn't do it because I would feel it is unethical..... But if you work for Belichek and the N.E. Patriots it is both legal and ethical......haha

I have seen Ludlow, Lloyd, and Villa play. I don't know what left, but #40 Daughtery (JR) from Ludlow, #3 Lockart from Lloyd (JR), and #42 Kruetzer from Villa (?) are pretty good players. But I would guess they were last year also.....

Is there a place to see the matchups?

I don't know if it is Cooper or Copper. So would they be in with the 34th district?

A question about Copper High was brought up in the "Villa 47, Lloyd 44" thread. The question was asking which district they are in. Who and where is Copper High? I have never heard of them.

It was a great win for Villa! I don't deny that at all. They played a great game as a team. However, I thought the best player on the court was from Lloyd...it all got away from there. My bad! Villa has good size and controlled the tempo of the game! Congrats to Coach Shields and his team for starting 1-0!!!

You got that right! I watched 2 or 3 Brossart girls shoot their shots into Hardins armpits (no joke)....

I will agree with you on that one.....if they guard each other (which I would guess they would), they both might foul out in the first half! They both are physical, with Daughtery having a lot more polished inside game and touch. Lockart just jumps real high!

And another funny thing about the game was the the whole first quarter was played with a guys basketball. The coach from Lloyd pointed that out during the time between quarters. He just asked them if it was a girls ball because both teams were firing up airballs and short on all shots. Good eye coach!

I was there. The Lloyd coach called a timeout with about 20 seconds left in the game down 45-44. He must have drawn up a play to get Lockart the ball inside, but she had to come help get the ball out of bounds. She then kicked it out to one of their guards who then threw a bad return pass to Lockart. It was stolen, there was a foul. Villa made both free throws to go up by 3. Lloyd had a chance to get a three off, but fumbled the ball. I was very impressed with Lockart. I haven't seen too many girls go and JUMP for rebounds like she does! I would like to see her against a better team than Villa, but I am not sure that her teammates will be able to get her the ball against a better team. They play Ludlow coming up. I would love to see her and Daughtery go head to head! I guess Lloyd was without starting Center Tiffany Herman for some reason. The parent in the stands next to me wasn't sure what the situation was. Does anyone know what was up with that? Would she have helped?

Sloppy first game for both of these two teams. Krutzer from Villa Madonna had 18 points, but the player of the game was the Lockart girl from Lloyd. She had 20 points and had to be close to 20 rebs. And that was sitting the last few minutes of the 1st quarter and all of the 2nd quarter with foul trouble. She is the best "forward" I have seen this early season so far. Why have I never seen her name mentioned as a Top Player? Good luck to both teams. It looked like a first game for both teams.

It was a good win on opening night for Ludlow! And I have no idea what/who they played last year for it to be called a weak schedule. Heck, I don't know anything about the teams on their schedule. I went and watched Conner/Holmes as two top ten teams and was pretty impressed. I went to watch Ludlow/Brossart as two more top teams and was unimpressed. Neither of those teams could be with in 15 of Conner/Holmes. So it appears there is a real drop off in the top ten. At least to me being an outsider coming in feeling my way through NKY bball. A good team will be able to shut down Hardin, and slow down Daughtery. So does the weak schedule complaint from locals come from the teams that were hanging on the wall? Because I hadn't seen any of those teams even get top ten votes? But back to the game. Does Ludlow always just sit in a 3-2 zone? Or was this just they didn't have the confidence to go man to man against the smaller/faster team? Good luck to both teams as it was obvious they both have good, young coaches that are teaching fundamentals! It is always good to see that!!!

Great point about the posts really being "young" in Varsity terms. Daughtery (#40) didn't look young. She has nice touch around the basket. But being the first game, I will give you they will be much better as the year goes on! I am sure I will try to look them up again!

I was very impressed with Brossart and how hard they played with a team of players that were the same size across the board. They played as a complete "team" and I really think their coaching staff did a good job to be in the game and to be leading. Pardon the pun, but they are just SHORT on posts.....they will give smaller teams fits. A team with some posts will front Ludlow (or at least I would) and help slow down their good post players! And they are good, don't get my assessment wrong. I just expected more from them I guess, or at least from all the hype.

The "if" game could be played here all day and night long. But I will throw one "if" out there. IF Brossart had a post, they would have won (in my unprofessional and unbiased opinion). But again, if grasshoppers carried pistols, the birds wouldn't mess with them either. So it doesn't matter.....Ludlow won. They were the best team last night!!! My take on the game was that it was a sloppy game, and in my mind a disappointment. I expected more from two "top ten" teams....Both teams had moments showing strengths: Brossarts tough man pressure, and Ludlows strong inside game. However, if I was a coach scouting them (which several schools were there I noticed), both teams showed more weaknesses than strengths....but it is November and NOT March!!!!! Good luck to both teams this season. I will continue to make my way around NKY and get acquainted with the local teams/players...

I left with 20 seconds to go and Ludlow was up 48-41. It was a tight game, back and forth. But in the end, Brossart couldn't handle the big girls of Ludlow. It was a pretty ugly game. I bet both teams had 20 turnovers each the first half alone. And what I don't understand is two things when watching Brossart (who I think was actually the better "team"). 1st- Why didn't they front the posts? They were dead when #40 Daughtery caught they ball and they were behind. But when they fronted, it was a limp lob and stollen. Yet they continued to play behind.... 2nd- #32 for Ludlow is like 6'4". Brossart didn't appear to have anyone over 5'9". So why did the continue to try to shoot over #32. She must have had close to 10 blocks (some in her armpit) I say if these teams played 10 times, Brossart would win more than lose. They were much more disciplined on offense. Ludlow was one pass and chuck a shot....no offense. And a soft 3-2 zone... But on this night ladies and gentlemen, Ludlow was better!!!

It's always nice when the home grown talents stay true to their ties! I appreciate the info. I will look for Ludlow to probaby win it sounds like. Plus aren't they ranked like #6 in the NKY Enquirer? So they SHOULD win?????

what style of play do these two play? sounds like Brossart is small and fast and Ludlow is tall? So are they more of a half court offensive team? How about defenses? Pressing? Zone? I am going to the game, so I guess my questions will be answered, I just wanted to get some info before I am introduced to NKY bball! And I look forward to seeing Stamm. I have heard a lot of good things about him and his coaching style!
