32minutesofpressure Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Will this be a good game? Who wins this one?
imo Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I can't really answer that one. My instincts say Brossart, but I don't know. St. Patrick's Freshman team beat Brossart last night by about 20 points. I wouldn't have had a prediction on that game either, but I sure didn't expect it to be that big of a margin. I thought the score would have been closer (or maybe been in Brossarts favor). Too early in the seson to tell what's going to happen with most schools. I'm not sure, but I think the final score was 52-32. We'll see what happens tonight.
Hamilton Joe Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 This should be a really entertaining game and one that I wish I could attend. Both teams have enjoyed considerable success the last couple of years and I believe it might be a case of can Brossart stop Ludlows rather tall inside game and if Ludlow has the speed to keep up with some of the smaller quicker players from Brossart. This fellow at Ludlow (Stamm) has to be considered one of the up and coming coaches in the 9th region and I have to wonder just how long Ludlow will be able to hold onto this guy. I have heard from a great many area ADs and coaches that he is definitely someone that everyone holds in high regard. I got to see them play a half dozen times or so last year and the Guy always seems to be working hard on the sidelines and his players seem to respond to him well. Would hate to see Ludlow lose someone of his abilities but can't blame him if he is looking to move to a bigger school or switch to the boys side somewhere. Does anyone know if he is a teacher as well. That might have some bearing on his situation. Good, young, smart coach..With the game being at Ludlow I think I'm going to take the Panthers by 5 in this fast paced game..Good luck to both teams..
32minutesofpressure Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 what style of play do these two play? sounds like Brossart is small and fast and Ludlow is tall? So are they more of a half court offensive team? How about defenses? Pressing? Zone? I am going to the game, so I guess my questions will be answered, I just wanted to get some info before I am introduced to NKY bball! And I look forward to seeing Stamm. I have heard a lot of good things about him and his coaching style!
Hamilton Joe Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I know that Ludlow has 3 inside players that go about 5'10", 6ft and 6'3" and a young lady that was one of the leading 3 point shooters in NKY last year. They did lose a 5 year starter (Wofford) that did do all the ball handling and played some very aggressive defense that will be missed but I do think they have some younger girls that as they develop confidence will be able to pickup most of what she was able to do. My understanding is that Brossart is smaller but very quick and plays rather aggressive pressure defense that may cause the Panther ballhanders a bit of trouble.
pnthr4life Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 For the record, Stamm is a Ludlow graduate and does not teach at the school. He has done a tremendous job with the girls bball program.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure. All I hear is what a great job he does and the enthusiasm he has generated for girls bball down in Ludlow. Thats great to hear but I wish he was a tenured teacher at Ludlow. That might give them a better chance of holding on to him. His being a graduate may help. Thanks again.
Mr. Infamous Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I believe the young lady your referring to as one of the top 3-point shooters from last year is Michelle Landrum. She has a very nice shot from the outside, a bad shot for her is when the ball touches the rim as passes through. IMO if she's on tonight the Mustangs could have their hands full, trying to defend her outside presence and contain Daughtry's low post game.

When she gets going she can flat out fill it up. If she is hot tonight I would agree with you that Brossart will definitely have their hands full.

He is a very loyal young man and his ties to Ludlow run very deep.
32minutesofpressure Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 It's always nice when the home grown talents stay true to their ties! I appreciate the info. I will look for Ludlow to probaby win it sounds like. Plus aren't they ranked like #6 in the NKY Enquirer? So they SHOULD win?????
futurecoach Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Yea thanks, that was the girl I was thinking of. When she gets going she can flat out fill it up. If she is hot tonight I would agree with you that Brossart will definitely have their hands full. If Michelle is hot tonight, then that is a definite plus for the Panthers. Ludlow has one of the top 5 post players in the region this year in Ashley Daughtery, and Brossart will probably have a hard time containing her since I hear that they are not a very big team..But I think what this game will really come down to is how Brook Jones does for Ludlow running the point against the quicker guards of Brossart. Brook has looked great running the point this for the Panthers during their scrimmages, and I know I look for that to continue tonight. Brook also is one of the best 3 point shooters on the team along with Michelle. Ludlow pretty much does have all the pieces inside and out this year, to make a run this year. And this is a very good test for Ludlow for their first game of the year, because Brossart is also a very good team... Ludlow 50 Brossart 43
20/20Hindsight Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Anybody have a score for this game yet?
footballer11 Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Ludlow wins in a nail biter.. Ludlow was up early but with two fouls Daughtery goes out in the early 2nd quarter and brossart comes back and hols onto the lead untill the fourth where Ludlows inside game was too much with Daughtery on the offensive side and Hardin(6'2) on the defensive side with about 10 blocks...Great game!
