really thought this game might be a little closer but apparently Brossart is not at the same level as Paris. Hasn't Paris won a lot of All 'A' regionals in a row. At one time I remember Brossart dominated that region. Looks like the tables are turned, at least for another year. I would guess Paris would be favored tomorrow against Bracken Co.? Haven't seen either on play but seems like Paris is playing well of late.

Paris have won the last four in a row and the last five out of six! Brossart has lost only six games during the All "A" Classic 10th Region Tournament and all six of those losses have come against Paris.

I may get criticized for this comment, but here goes. I blame this loss on Coach Geiman-Eberhard. I'm sorry but when you are playing a team who is 10 times faster than you, you cannot afford to play man to man. #22 for Paris had a field day driving to the basket around a much slower defensive squad. I would have thought by the middle of the season teams would have learned to have a chance against Paris you need to play a zone. They don't penetrate as well and mostly stand outside the key and jack up 3s or long J's.

Hopefully Bracken figures this out because I believe they are even slower than Brossart!

Congrats to Paris holding Brossart to 28 pts is real good

Paris defense smothered Brossart all night. Score could have even been more lopsided if Paris had knocked down freethrows. Good luck Ladyhounds against Bracken.

Well, Bracken County did start the night out in a zone against Paris and that lasted about 2 minutes due to the sharp shooting of Paris. The Paris team from the beginning of the season would have stood outside the key and jacked up 3s and long J's. Now Paris is penetrating well and knocking down shots when they need to. I think it is safe to say that Paris is peaking right now and that is due to the tough schedule that they play and the dedicated coaching staff that they have. Paris has been ranked in the Top 3 of the 10th region for the majority of the season and now they are playing like they belong there. They will be tough to beat regardless of what defense you play on them.

How many teams have won the All A playing zone? Or even a state championship?

The good teams play man for a huge majority of the time!

I agree! Paris has definitely gotten hot. I would have never expected them to knock down as many outside shots as they did against Bracken.

Like you said.. the good teams! I wouldn't necessarily say Brossart is any where near as good as they have been in the past.

They aren't that good yet, but they are young and have the potential. IMO or my best guess is she knows to be good, you have to be good at Man. Zone mixed in to throw teams off is ok. But the good and great teams play man defense primarily. She could just sit in a zone, but how does her team learn how to get better to be a great team? Again, my opinion, and as you can tell I am not a big zone fan.....

Good points by all but I think a zone can be effective IF you use it the right way and capitalize on the oppenent's weakness. I have seen better teams use different types of zones to throw off another team and it has worked. Although I agree man defense puts more pressure on the offense, sometimes it doesn't hurt to try a specific zone to see how the team reacts to it. But apparently man defense did not work for Brossart (I was not at the game so I can't comment on it too much) so they could have seen IF a zone would have done better. As a coach you HAVE to be flexible and be willing to try something different if what you are doing is NOT working. Don't know if that was the case against Paris but from what someone else wrote, it sounds like the man defense was questionable. It's all water under the bridge now anyway.
